I am having my puppy bathed tonight at Petco. It is a puppy special for $22.00, they just wash, condition and clean teeth and nails. No clipping. New at this, should I tip and how much?

Thanks!

I never thought to tip the groomer. I just assumed thats what I was paying for.

I tip, too.

But one of my dogs usually poops all over their floor so I feel really bad :scared:

So tip 25% if your puppy poops on floor.

DD is a groomer at Petco. Tips are greatly appreciated. I told her that I never would have even thought to tip a groomer and I bet a lot of people don't realize that you really should tip. She said, "well, you tip your hairdresser so why wouldn't you tip your groomer? Dogs and cats are a lot harder to do." Made sense!

As for the amount to tip, she gets anywhere from nothing to some very generous tips. It is hard to say exactly but anything is better than nothing.:goodvibes

So why is there a difference between your hair and a dogs fur?
One stylist gets a tip and the other, who works with animals and probably gets bit and scratched quite often, does not get a tip?

We've only ever had my dog's nails clipped at Petsmart once. We tipped a buck or so to each person because they both kind of helped.

I faithfully bring my dog for a grooming every 4 weeks. The bill is $25 and I give $28 each time. No it isn't 15%, about 11%, but I feel it is fair since the cut is alot and I'm there faithfully. No knots as she is kept clean always.

Rule of thumb... If you ever ask a question that starts with "Do you tip _____" then 99.99 % of the time the answer is 'Yes'!:goodvibes

My dog is a ball of mush and doesn't scratch, he just stands there. But I don't think the groomer gives my dog the same level of service my stylist gives me. I guess I can see tipping if its a difficult to handle dog.

We get ours groomed at Petsmart. We do not tip. Tips at our Petsmart are strictly prohibitted. There's eve a sign that says "This isn't a barbershop, and we're not waiters, put your tips away!"

We were told they get in trouble at ours if they accept tips.

I would not tip at Petsmart. I do tip if I take the pups to an independent place of business. I figure the lady who does it owns this little house and uses it for her grooming business and she has overhead costs. Plus she treats my little guys little royalty! I give her 15% or generally an extra $20 at Christmas, since she gives my guys a little doggy stocking filled with goodies!
