We decided to use our DVC for the first time for Christmas Dec 21- Dec26th. We really want to stay in the WVL, we only need a Studio, its just the 2 of us. We havn't called MS. I have read the WLV is hard to get in Dec. What do you think? Where would the next best place be to stay for Christmas?

Not only is VWL hard to book at holiday time, but a studio will be THE MOST difficult to book. You might have better success if you try a 1 bedroom though. My guess is the waitlist would be quicker with a 1 bedroom than with a studio.

Given the dates you want, call MS and take anything that's available and put yourself on a waitlist for VWL! You might get lucky, but no matter which DVC you'd be in, you'd be in the midst of holiday decorations. :thumbsup2
You can visit the different resorts to see their decorations and plan for your next year's trip!:goodvibes

I agree with the above. We sneaked in after the AKV MS stampede (pun intended) and got a 1-br at VWL for 12-16 - 12/21. They did not have a studio for that timeframe.

Are there really that many fewer studio's then 1 bedrooms

Nope, but many more studios get booked, so that often leaves 1 bedrooms available. I prefer the 1 bedrooms for the Jacuzzi, kitchen and living space.

I've been trying to rent points for a studio at ANY resort for Dec. 27-30 for almost a month now--all booked. I was so very surprised to find how difficult it is--I thought I was planning ahead! Unfortunately, as much as I'd prefer a 1 bedroom, I just can't afford it during this pricey season. I have tentatively booked 2 of my 3 nights, though, and waitlisted the other night, so maybe....;)

If you waited until 7 months before, unless you had an owner in your pocket to call day by day exactly at 7 months, you probably didn't have a chance. You should have gotten an owner with home resort points to make your reservation at 11 months out. Some resorts get booked right away, like standard view at BWV or VWL.

On June 9 my DH booked a studio at AKV, so he canceled the studio we had booked at SSR for Dec. 20-26. I'm thrilled!!
I had thought they'd be all booked at AKV.

He tried about a month ago to get a studio at WLV but those were all booked at that time.
