Do you think WDW will ever reopen River Country water park?

If you want to see a piece of it, the main pool at Fort wilderness houses the old water tower, repurposed into the slide. I was at RC years ago. It was a nice little waterpark. My kids loved it. Sad to see it in disrepair, and now, gone.

Don't think so. That's an urban legend. The profile tells the story.

Google is your friend (search both sides of the issue).

Not arguing with you - just setting the record straight.

Found this via Google search:
"The very last remnant from River Country can be found at Fort Wilderness’ main pool. Literally towering above the water line is a water slide created from the River Country Water Tower in 2009. Removed from the front entrance of the water park, it was refurbished, painted and used as the centerpiece of the new water slide. There is no memorial tablet to tell you this fun fact, but Disney Parks fans will recognize the emblazoned logo on the front of the tower."Credit: iThemePark

From Mouseplanet:
The Relic
Today, there is one "Easter Egg" left that is actively used in Fort Wilderness: the water tower in the Fort's main pool. It was removed from River Country and refurbished to be used as a part of the new water slide. There is no marker to tell you this, but it's a great piece of Fort history and trivia to know.

who knows. I've also read that it's new and built to mimic the old. :)

I can see I assumed too much and have to skip some steps to be more direct.

So I will jump ahead to the relevant topics:

- the logo on the FW pool tank (the shape which is the same as at the old River Country), can you tell me the background of the logo and where it came from?

It is a short, direct line to my point.

PS - "profile" is not necessarily the shape/outline of the tank but the description of an online account - its "properties". What describes the features of that online account?

I remember when they closed RC. Disney said at the time it was because of the bacteria in the water but I always felt it was because of alligators.
It closed for the season at the end of 2001 and did not reopen in 2002 due to the impact 9/11 had on tourism. Disney was hurting and needed to make cuts... and River Country was the least popular water park.

Disney never said it closed because of the amoeba issue and the only occurrence of that that amoeba linked to River Country that I'm aware of occurred in the 80's. The park did not have an opening with Bay Lake so alligators were not an issue.

The amoeba part is correct but the alligator part isn't. First off, Disney really doesn't have an alligator "problem" except for the sad incident at GF. Alligators can walk, crawl, swim, and climb their way to just about anyplace where one body of fresh water is close to another. That being said, Disney has a very robust alligator removal program. I have been told by a CM that they remove the alligators they find that are 3' long and up. I doubt that to be true as here in Florida the removal of "problem" alligators start at 5'. At 3' they are still so small they're hard to spot. Alligators are mostly tail. Anyway, alligators are afraid of humans and disappear when they see people. This does not apply to those that have been fed as they lose their fear of humans. That's when they become a problem and are removed. Just a PSA for those who aren't from alligator areas and have a misconception of the critters.

I think it was those two factors, PLUS the long-term strategy of having a Disney waterpark/s for visitors. RC closed in the 9/11 era, but I am sure they realistically knew that they needed to build a waterpark that was up to modern codes and that could handle large numbers of visitors when tourism returned. In many of the videos I have seen of RC, it looked crowded and unsafe compared to what we see today in waterparks. TL and BB have much higher capacity.
