Do You think DISNEY has gone down hlll the last few years?

Now, you want to criticize the OP for her "opinion"?????? Who are any of you to tell her she is wrong? It is her "opinion"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good heavens, are some of you folks so tightly wound you wish to take away a person's free will to have an opinion???

Yet those of us that have a different opinion get slammed left and right.

It seems that opinions are only welcome when the are :worship: :worship::worship::worship::worship::worship: to the original poster.

Personally if I were as unhappy as the people here seem to be with the lack of maintenance and the prices of things.... I would just stop going.

I paid a high price at Royal Pacific and had a disgustingly dirty room and the grounds were also really dirty. I cleaned my own room on several occasions and had to use a bed blanket to dry my daughter after her bath since we had no towels and called down several times for new ones. Bad, bad experience.

Guess how many times we have been back? Zero.

It is a simple solution. Spend your money elsewhere.

If you don't think the Disney resorts are actually "deluxe", which IMHO they are not ~ stay off site at a 5 star resort. I think of it just as a why to distinguish between the level of ON PROPERTY resorts not in comparison to others.

It's like when I go someplace and order a "medium" drink and the cashier says "we don't have medium. we have large, extra large and ginormous" It's all semantics people. Extra large at one place can be the same as small at another.

If it bothers you and you don't complain right then and there ~ but rather wait.... what weeks? months? and come to a message board most likely NOT monitored by Disney higher ups ~ why would you expect it to change?

I've never once said OP is WRONG. I said ~ I don't agree. And I don't. We have just as magical a time now as we did the first time.

I also don't appreciate getting the fact that I said I haven't SEEN something reduced to I don't believe it because I didn't SEE it and "make sure to get pictures to prove it." Sorry I have never seen an overflowing trashcan. I will make sure to seek one out when we are there in three weeks. I'll take time out of my vacation to seek out things to complain about so that I can drink the koolaid and be part of the cool kids. :thumbsup2

Suellen-

I was the one that asked you not to leave the thread. :confused3And they're are plenty here including myself, that said differing opinions were welcome. I said that to you directly. I'm not really sure where you are getting the :worship: from?

This thread was not started for "Disney" higher ups to look at. It was just for discussion. But since many here do agree, we are looking to edit a letter and send to Mr. Igner.

I have figured this out.

There are a few challenged individuals who cannot fathom the concept that Disney has things they need to work on, so they attack the messenger. Now some of these same "challenged" individuals have the audacity to criticize and question the OP for stating her concerns? It is not the "complainers" who are the threat to Disney, it is the complacent ones who continue to accept substandard at a premium price.

Let me explain it to the magnanimous "photographer" in the group: The picture was not taken with a flash. Get it? Understand? Tell me, were you there? Can you prove it with your integrity and all of your in depth knowledge that there "was a flash"????????? No, you cannot. Because I TOOK THE PICTURE!!!!! You remind me of the kind of individual who would argue about the torn wallpaper when the room is filled with rats. Get a clue.

What I "figured out", is that apologists like you want to see this thread closed. It has been an excellent discussion for the most part until there are a few "whiners" whom want to know how to "unsubscribe" to the thread. Frankly, I have been a participant and the only way I "see the thread" is if I open it up. Don't want to see it? DON'T OPEN IT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's really simple.

Really, it is not the OP with the problem here.........

Finally, the bed skirt. It is faded. It's not a big deal in itself. It's just a "detail". Understand? A detail or a symptom of a greater ill. Make sense yet? First, it's the CM's losing their magic, then it is the roofs of buildings going neglected, then the quality of the food then raise the prices. Eventually, all the little things that made Disney great, turn it into Six Flags.

None of us want that!!! That's why we complain!! That's why the OP started this thread!!!! Because WE CARE!!!! It is only people like some of those here, that make it worse by ignoring it!! When substandard becomes the norm, substandard becomes acceptable. That's not what Disney wanted. It's disgraceful! As paying guests, we have as much right to complain as it is your right to ignore it!!

As for any further personal attacks on the OP, feel free to PM me. I will be more than happy to straighten anyone out on how to properly address a lady. By whatever means required. Show some respect. If you can't, give me a call and we can settle this properly.

It is unfortunate, that a few individuals have dragged this thread down. It was one of the best discussions I've been a part of until this nonsense began. Heck, even Bicker had more respect than a couple of you folks now are showing.

A faded bed skirt is a sign of a deeper issue. The details don't matter near as much as they used to...., how sad.

Here is another thing.... Suellen, you are not being criticized here. I've read most of the posts on this thread. "Not agreeing" with the OP is not an issue, no one has said it was. Also, the "Kool-aid" reference is a bit much, don't you think? What has struck me about this thread in general, is just the opposite. I would have expected a major "group think" event here but it is not been that. Also, I myself have stated "I" don't agree with the OP! I think Disney is exceptional in most ways!! I have a few issues, of which I have spelled out several times.

Where I have taken issue, is when it gets personal or picking nits. Not everyone has experienced some of these things, which is awesome because it is clear then, that they are still the exception! That more than anything else, is what most of us hope to see happen.

I fully intend on revising and sending the letter I posted a few pages back. I would encourage anyone who agrees with what the letter says, to copy it and send it as well.

To Kelly and Flicx:

Thanks for your kind words!! I am going to feel bad when this thread finally runs it's course....., I've met a few folks whom I have grown to like considerably!!

Yeah I do. I thought so earlier in the thread when it was slung at us disagreers. <--- and yeah ~ I know that isn't a word.

I have been criticized and mocked because I said I didn't see something or didn't know about it because it was something we don't eat/do so it didn't affect us. Hence the make sure you take pictures to PROVE it happens. Which makes me :rotfl: because I never said it didn't happen ~ I personally haven't seen it. I've also never seen a turtle lay and egg... it doesn't mean I don't believe it happens. :confused3

The only item in FACT I did question was where someone got an $8.00 hot dog because I didn't see that on any of the menus I checked. Unless the menu prices listed are wrong. I have no idea.... we don't eat hot dogs.

I think I may have posted about that. There was a thread on the DIS about 2 weeks ago saying that Disney is now selling gourmet hotdogs for $8.00. I think one was topped with a Reuben topping, and other's with chili etc. But there was indeed a thread about. Nope, I never saw them either, and I dont' know where they are selling them. Casey's maybe? Not sure.

When I was young in school, I always seemed to be .... um .... be in the pricipal's office. He WAS a very nice man, and I didn't put cats in the microwave or anythign awful like that. (and NOT because microwaves were not invented when I was young.) My middle initial is M and I thought it stood for mischief. (talking in class....wow....who would guess?)

Anyway....reading this, I felt like I was standing there once again, trying to explain why I thought it was a good idea to put one desk ontop of another. I WAS SHORT.....I couldn't see the chalkboard!

Principal's office all over.

I'll be good. I promise. (see my fingers crossed behind my back!)

That's my thought. Generally for me any vacation spot is a "sum of many parts".

Sure a worn, unkempt carpet in and of itself may not make me shake my head but then couple that with lackluster restaurants and cut backs in entertainment (fantasmic cut back, 4 for a dollar gone, pleasure island turned into one more gigantic shopping venue) and things start adding up.

I fully admit to have some specific standards and some what I call Disney standards. I admit that if you advertise "Deluxe" that puts my mind in a totally different frame of mind, so yes I'm sorry the "all I need is a clean room" excuse ain't cutting it. I expect a clean room in motel 6 on I-95, the Grand Floridian, I expect more.

I remember last summer checking into the Beach club, they have this beautiful table in the middle of the lobby. its the first thing a guest sees through the doors and the thing had dead flowers in it. :scared1: In the grand scheme of things are lobby flowers going to ruin my vacation? no not at all but it did make me :sad2:. what was worse they did not replace the flowers for 2 days. Sorry, not buying the recession argument either. appearances are important, if you want to cut the bill, get some silk flowers put in.

So for me the 'little" things like flowers seperated Disney from other places.

Very true.

What made Disney differnt was the details....whether it be fresh flowers, opening a car door, or clean stairwells.

We are finally returning to BC this November. 3 years ago the list of "little things" grew to a point we could not ingor......about the same time DH fell out of a broken chair on the balcony which was never removed in spite of multiple calls....filty stairway to the sidewalk (coffee cups, straws, napkins on stop of a layer of black filth which had been there a long time.....again...never cleaned even after 3 calls to the front and eventual chat with the manger)...and more.

There is a point when you just can't ignor the details.

Happily, our last trip the resort looked better, the lobby bathroom did not have an ordor 10 feet before you entered AND when we asked for Nelson...no one knew who he was. (Nelson = manager who would not recognize Pixie Dust if he fell into a BOX of it.)

So we give our beloved Beach Club another try and we are very excited.

Look for our Christmas room decorations the week after Thanksgiving - we have a water view room!

Personally if I were as unhappy as the people here seem to be with the lack of maintenance and the prices of things.... I would just stop going.

These things I don't agree with in your post,I hate the opinion that a long time loyal customer should just be told to give up going to a place because management has decided to get in a sense greedy( for lack of a better word). The spend your money elsewhere thing has already happened with my family,we are giving up our usual trip to disney this year and spending our money elsewhere.I would think for those of you who have your point of view wouldn't want this to happen too much as if this starts a trend you to may notice changes at the beloved park!Think how much disney loses if a family doesn't go,thousands by my estimate especially if they stay on property.I also think complaining on site(at park) isn't the greatest idea either. If you complain to someone at disney I really don't think you will do as well as sending a letter to the company.

Flicx - right again.

I'm going to quote, once again, someone else on an earlier page.......

If we didn't offer our critique good AND bad, we would still be drinking NEW COKE!!!

Perhaps we should say.....if you don't like reading the critique, perhaps you should not read this. If the complaints at the parks bother you, perhaps YOU should stay home. See, that doesn't work either.

Again... MY OPINION cut down. WHAT I PERSONALLY DID. I was a loyal customer at Universal and on site hotels there. We haven't been back in over three years since that last incident.

Prior to that we were going just as many times a year as Disney. It wasn't the same anymore so we stopped going. We didn't renew AP's and stopped going because we were unhappy with what was going on.

And I totally disagree with NOT pointing something out you find unacceptable. WHY wouldn't you? Go to guest relations and say "ya know.. the park(insert hotel, boat, bus whatever) was really dirty (unmaintained, faded broken... whatever) today and it took a little bit of magic from my day." What can it hurt? Ask for a comment card. Also send an email/letter when you get home.

Prices.... well if they are TOO high why would you pay them? I guess then they aren't TOO high.

As far as no one going and it bringing the park down ~ well I just don't see that happening. Maybe I am naive but I don't see it happening. Besides Disney is diverse ~ the parks aren't the only place they make money.

If the complaints at the parks bother you, perhaps YOU should stay home. See, that doesn't work either.

They don't actually ~ DH and I just look at each other and raise an eyebrow and go on enjoying our day.

And now I am done.

I hope you all can still have magical vacations despite all the issues. :cool1: I know we will.

I meant no ill will suellen.I am not upset that you disagree with my opinion about where or when to complain. Your suggestion of doing both is a good one. The price issue is kinda of where we part ways though.I guess no one really needs to vacation. If they continue at their current price increases(which they have for 22 years) they will soon price alot of people out of their parks .Perhaps this is the new disney plan. I don't know maybe they are gearing towards a deeper pocketed clientel.Either way feel free disagree away, enjoy yourself.Heck my wife sure likes to disagree with me.But thats another story!:rotfl2:

I've never had or heard of a dirty room at the Royal Pacific so I'm sorry that you ran into one. I do understand what you're saying about not having seen something though so I won't argue about that but I don't see how the Royal Pacific having or not having dirty rooms has any relevance to what WDW offers. That is what this discussion is about and I see nothing wrong with you disagreeing. That's what discussions are all about IMO.

We have a GREAT time - thank you very much. Castmember discounts, no ticket cost, BIG discounts on shopping (32 years does bring perks), food discounts.....well, we don't spend much $$ on Disney food anyway.

For us......Disney trips are truly one of our cheepest holidays.

We just finalized our flights for November.......well, we paid the $5 fee and the $10 early bird for our reward flights and transferred a few points so our car rental will be about $28 for 9 days.

One GREAT thing about our Disney trips.......we certainly get OUR money's worth......not so sure about others.

How sad is that! Don't forget.......

Charge 'em more. Give 'em less! = Welcome to Walt Disney World!!

The worst I've heard is that they are supposedly using wheat buns now. That's just plain grotesque IMO.

We call them "crumble buns" because they fall apart so fast!

Yes, they ARE gross.....but they are CHEEPER....oops, not to us.
