Do You think DISNEY has gone down hlll the last few years?

It's not faded... the lighter and darker spots are actually shadows from the folds of the bedspread hitting the floor. If you look carefully, the darker spots all have a fold, divet, bend, etc. The lighter sections are catching the full force of the camera's flash.

FWIW, camera's aren't always the best recorders of fabric. For example, brown polyester anything from the '70s-80s reflected this crazy light when photographed. Still today there are some fabrics that reflect funny when photographed. So take it however you wish.

WL is supposed to be rustic. Yacht Club is more uptight and "citified". I would half expect denim of any shade at YC.

Look at the corner seam, you can absolutely see the difference and light is the same at this portion of picture, obviously this fabric has ability to fade. As for official picture, it is pretty dark blue and no amount of flash would make it bleach blue, comforter looks the same on both pictures for instance. Moreover, I do not see on official color change at all so I think we can dismiss theory about original, jeans like, uneven color but we can see it on Brunette picture.

Thank you Kelly. But it appears that another poster states that the bedskirt was not a Navy blue. I can tell you for a fact our room did not have a navy blue bed skirt, but it sure looks like Navy blue on the official Walt Disney website. If that's not Navy blue I don't know what is.:confused3 Oh well.

sigh. For the umpteenth time, it was faded and I did NOT have a flash on my camera when taking the picture. Our room did not look one thing what was pictured on the Disney website. That is why I took the picture, because it was so "FADED", and "WORN" and frankly "TIRED" looking. I was there, I know what it looked like. I do interior design, so I know what I'm talking about and that is why I wanted to take the picture. I refuse to argue with you about this subject, since YOU were NOT there. Thanks! Brunette:wizard:

Brunette & I had completely opposite experiences at the WL this summer, but seriously guys, why on earth would she take a photo of the bed ruffle thingie unless it were faded IRL!?!

Ours wasn't faded but was the colour in the photo at the bottom of the bed (i.e. none of the fading to the left which looks like too much exposure to the sun to me). It wasn't navy, nor did it look as though it ever should have been navy. I can say this quite categorically because although I did not take a photo, I spent rather a lot of time on my hands and knees moving the bloody thing as I tried to find lost bits of Lego! :lmao:

Maybe it was once navy blue, but the sun bleached it?

... and I originally came into this thread to say, no I don't think Disney has gone downhill over the past few years. For me, Disney hit a low three years ago which is when I found many CMs to be less than magical, loooong waits at restaurants past our ADR times, slow bus service etc. We're recently back from a fantastic holiday where CMs were unfailingly friendly (OK, minus one server at Olivia's and one bad tempered CM at Test Track), our children were showered with pixie dust, the food at restaurants like Teppan Edo was great and the transport was regular and efficient. Little extras like the movies on the beach were a brilliant addition. The parts of the holiday which are important to us were there tenfold compared to a few years ago.

Thank you Bonnie. Your exactly, right, that is why I did take the photo. I didn't take it just to take a picture of a bedskirt. It just boils my blood to have people state on this board that I am in fact lying about what I saw. Sheesh! Why waste my digital space on my card for that picture.? Frankly, I couldn't wait to get out of the room and move to another resort. And, I will reiterate, the WL over all look and feel was GORGEOUS! I am not bashing the WL, just the accomodations, that were sub-par. If only they would do something with the bedding, then I would stay there again. But until that time I won't.:sad2:

Thank you!

I think the whole bed skirt issue is a minor detail in the bigger picture. The other complaints that go along with alot of the wear is what alot of disers are talking about. My number one complaint would be price increases and that gets compounded by the obvious cutbacks in areas and lack of detail in others! The whole hey I don't mind if they increase prices every year attitude is what gripes me the most.Really you don't care ,gosh I do, I would like to be able to enjoy the parks without getting gouged. Now when you compond the price increases with alot of these other issues I really have no stomach for it.

Ugh... had something to post but it's not worth arguing with you about it - I'm trying to respond in a manner that is not rude, and I get yelled at. I keep forgetting why I post in the theme parks forum - too much rudeness around here.

Although I will probably get flamed, it is in my humble opinion that brunette, to use her term "snarky" with most people that disagree. Just saying

Please qualify your post. Because most people that did not agree I had no problem with. As a matter of fact a few wanted to leave this thread and I politely asked them not too. So please quantify your statement.

Further, I thought YOU were eh hem, unsubscribing from this thread. You claim that we just whine way too much! Just sayin......lol

I agree that this is nothing major but, definitely an eye sore. I wonder what the turnover rate is on rooms at the WL... family bangs up the wall with toys or luggage during their stay, checks out at 11, room has to be cleaned up asap for next guests. Does the next family want to hear "Room needs repair and isn't ready yet. Leave your luggage at bell service and come back." or want to see wet paint signs with their little ones running about the room?

I'm not arguing either side of this one. Just thinking aloud. Interior must be much more difficult to maintain when guests are constantly checking in and out.

But, this was once important to Disney. I remember taking a park tour, early in the morning. This was one of the things pointed out. Crews would come in, before the parks were open and do routine maintenance. No paint chips, or dead flowers. Everything was clean and looked brand new. And, I never remember the resorts looking so tired and worn. I wouldn't expect a $400+(regular season including tax) hotel room to be so neglected. I don't see this as accepatable. MO

That's my thought. Generally for me any vacation spot is a "sum of many parts".

Sure a worn, unkempt carpet in and of itself may not make me shake my head but then couple that with lackluster restaurants and cut backs in entertainment (fantasmic cut back, 4 for a dollar gone, pleasure island turned into one more gigantic shopping venue) and things start adding up.

I fully admit to have some specific standards and some what I call Disney standards. I admit that if you advertise "Deluxe" that puts my mind in a totally different frame of mind, so yes I'm sorry the "all I need is a clean room" excuse ain't cutting it. I expect a clean room in motel 6 on I-95, the Grand Floridian, I expect more.

I remember last summer checking into the Beach club, they have this beautiful table in the middle of the lobby. its the first thing a guest sees through the doors and the thing had dead flowers in it. :scared1: In the grand scheme of things are lobby flowers going to ruin my vacation? no not at all but it did make me :sad2:. what was worse they did not replace the flowers for 2 days. Sorry, not buying the recession argument either. appearances are important, if you want to cut the bill, get some silk flowers put in.

So for me the 'little" things like flowers seperated Disney from other places.

This thread is like passing a car wreck, you don't want to look but you just have to.

Please pardon my snarkiness

Post #1036 YC was far from uptight. No need to get snarky about my "FACTUAL" comments. Is that how you try to refute what I'm saying, by telling me that the YC is "uptight"!? Too funny.

Once again, please qualify where I got "snarky" with a poster. :confused3

Maybe you're better off "unsubscribing"! :rotfl:

I agree. If you go to any Hilton, or Westin hotel you will mostly like find great accomodations.

I have figured this out.

There are a few challenged individuals who cannot fathom the concept that Disney has things they need to work on, so they attack the messenger. Now some of these same "challenged" individuals have the audacity to criticize and question the OP for stating her concerns? It is not the "complainers" who are the threat to Disney, it is the complacent ones who continue to accept substandard at a premium price.

Let me explain it to the magnanimous "photographer" in the group: The picture was not taken with a flash. Get it? Understand? Tell me, were you there? Can you prove it with your integrity and all of your in depth knowledge that there "was a flash"????????? No, you cannot. Because I TOOK THE PICTURE!!!!! You remind me of the kind of individual who would argue about the torn wallpaper when the room is filled with rats. Get a clue.

What I "figured out", is that apologists like you want to see this thread closed. It has been an excellent discussion for the most part until there are a few "whiners" whom want to know how to "unsubscribe" to the thread. Frankly, I have been a participant and the only way I "see the thread" is if I open it up. Don't want to see it? DON'T OPEN IT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's really simple.

Now, you want to criticize the OP for her "opinion"?????? Who are any of you to tell her she is wrong? It is her "opinion"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good heavens, are some of you folks so tightly wound you wish to take away a person's free will to have an opinion???

Really, it is not the OP with the problem here.........

Finally, the bed skirt. It is faded. It's not a big deal in itself. It's just a "detail". Understand? A detail or a symptom of a greater ill. Make sense yet? First, it's the CM's losing their magic, then it is the roofs of buildings going neglected, then the quality of the food then raise the prices. Eventually, all the little things that made Disney great, turn it into Six Flags.

None of us want that!!! That's why we complain!! That's why the OP started this thread!!!! Because WE CARE!!!! It is only people like some of those here, that make it worse by ignoring it!! When substandard becomes the norm, substandard becomes acceptable. That's not what Disney wanted. It's disgraceful! As paying guests, we have as much right to complain as it is your right to ignore it!!

As for any further personal attacks on the OP, feel free to PM me. I will be more than happy to straighten anyone out on how to properly address a lady. By whatever means required. Show some respect. If you can't, give me a call and we can settle this properly.

It is unfortunate, that a few individuals have dragged this thread down. It was one of the best discussions I've been a part of until this nonsense began. Heck, even Bicker had more respect than a couple of you folks now are showing.

A faded bed skirt is a sign of a deeper issue. The details don't matter near as much as they used to...., how sad.

I forgot to chime in on the letter pirate.I like the letter ,the only thing I would change is the amount of the increase on the turkey legs and parking, they actually doubled or increased by 100% if I am not mistaken.Anyhow I thought it was a good letter and applaud that you took the time to write it and hope you send it along to Mr.Iger, please feel free to add my name to signatures if you would like.
