Do You Think Disney Ejected This Patron??

About 6 weeks ago we were boarding Soarin', we were in the first group in so we walked past the first ride element and filed to the far bench and started buckleing in. As we did, a woman behind us, who should have followed us to our bench, stopped at the end seat of the first row and sat down. A CM told her she needed to continue to the far bench. She refused. Other CM's came over to explain the rules, she still refused to move. Meanwhile, those behind her are standing there, waiting to be seated. For a few minutes the whole ride was held up, she just sat there and argued with the CMs. FWIW, I said, loud enough to be heard, 'Throw her out!'. Finally, the CMs left her there, seated the others and ran the ride. On leaving the theater, we saw, about halfway between the theater exit and the lobby area, two young, male CMs standing by an exit door that adjoined the exit ramp. We were curious if they were there to administer some Disney justice to the woman but time is valuable in WDW so we didn't hang around to see what was up. Anybody ever see a patron removed from a park? Would this have been reason enough for ejection? I've been curious about this ever since that day.

Although I would love to think she was asked to leave, I don't think that is a battle Disney would choose to fight. My guess is the CM's were standing there for some other reason. I've seen other guests get away with a lot more than selecting their own seat on a ride. Isn't sad though that there are always those that feel the rules don't apply to them or that they should get special treatment of some kind?

I don't know their policy on something like this. Did her actions put her or others in danger? Doesn't sound like it. Probably not enough to remove her from the park. However, if I was (Disney) king for a day, she'd be out in the parking lot real quick! Makes me furious when people don't go all the way down the row. It's selfish!

My sentence would be Small World, but what I was hoping for was a a size 11 penny loafer punting her into the parking lot.

what makes me furious is that she got away with it and probably did it many times..

Wouldn't you love to know exactly what she was thinking when she acted like that? I always wonder what it is that makes people (a) flaunt the rules like that, and then (b) try to argue down the WDW employees attempting to enforce the rules. I'd really like to know their thought process that led them to think that was the correct thing to do right then.

reminds me of the Tigger incident..hope someone made that guy listen to small world all day for picking on poor tigger

Now what really should have happened is whoever should have gotten that seat (hopefully someone really big, mean, and smelly!) would have just sat in her lap and buckled in. :thumbsup2

What I was thinking at the time was, 'How can she even enjoy the ride now?' This was a really unpleasant scene, and it went on for some minutes. Everybody was held up, the CMs were polite and reasonable, clearly she POed the whole theater, how can a person do that then immediately after enjoy an amusement park attraction? Believe me, I'm not a stickler for corporate rules, I draw the line where my actions have a negative impact on other innocent paid patrons. No, she didn't risk danger to others, my thought was that Disney would let her have her way there, then kick her out on principle alone.

A bit drastic and a bit time consuming but I think they should have taken those already seated and moved them to the next 'flight', and left the woman sitting there, and then taken her from the attraction. I would have been happy to wait a bit in order to have a point made.
It's the same with those that ignore the 'move all the way to the end of the row' spiel. Me? I like to be on the end...much quicker exit. But, it's a huge pain to crawl over those who feel that they just are entitled to sit wherever they choose. Of course, I can be a bit of a klutz, so most often as I'm crawling past, toes get stepped on, shins hit with my big ole feet, or a purse swings over and makes my point. Such a klutz.

People are such a PITA sometimes.

We were on Soarin' once when a group of teens were screaming, I mean blood curdling screams throughout the ride. The CM's stopped the ride, threw them off then reset it and we got to sit through the whole thing again.

The whole place cheered.

Quite honestly, I think that people believe they can flaunt the rules because they are brought up or become terminally self-absorbed and truly believe that they are 'special' and that the rules are for others. How many times have you seen in your child's school a parent insisting that the rules need to be bent or broken for their little prince or princess? And how many times do people agree to break the rules under those situations? Often enough that such individuals learn that they ARE in fact entitled to whatever they want and/or that if they make a big enough stink that the person being stunk up will surrender.

And I can assure you having been in customer service and having an acquaintance (notice I did NOT say friend) who was one of those people, making a stink does not ruin their day. In fact they either think nothing of it because they do it so often it means nothing to them and/or they actually enjoy making a stink for the drama of it or because they know making a stink will get them what they want. This acquaintance of ours used to announce as we went into a restaurant with her that, 'Oh goodie, it's time to make a server miserable so I can get a free meal.'

Did the woman speak english? Was she deaf? Did she have a physical disability?

She walked in right behind us, looked to be 30 something and certainly had enough vigor to verbally spar with the CMs for some time. They were speaking English to her and she was quickly responding, I don't recall actually hearing her, the CMs were facing in my direction and she was talking 'away' form me. I think everyone understood just what the other's intentions were and she had no intention of leaving that seat. I have seen the 'No Speekee English' ploy pulled in Muppetts 3D, and this wasn't that.

am i mistaken, or can't you, if you really want the front row seat in soarin, request that and wait longer, but get your request filled?????

so this lady wanted the front row but was not willing to put in the extra wait time for it? if that is the case, i vote for the person who rightfully should have that seat to sit in her lap. hopefully after having a nice bean filled meal in the mexico pavillion. "no sweetheart, that is not the pumped in fragrance of orange blossoms."

haha THAT is disney justice (though speaking of real disney justice, my own personal disney hell would definitely be small world).

Some people are so self absorbed that they genuinely dont care how their behavior is affecting others. Unfortunately, those kinds of people are everywhere (on the road, in malls and definitely in places like Disney World). You wonder how they dont realize how they appear to others but unfortunately thats part of the personality disorder (if you want to call it that). They're so busy thinking they're right and that their behavior is justified that it probably doesnt even occur to them that people think they're idiots.

I dont know how the CMs manage to remain calm and friendly with people like these. I'm the kind of person whose day would be ruined if I had to deal with that woman. Rude people irritate me... especially ones who dont respect the "rules" or think they're above them.
