Do you talk to your pets?

I do talk to my kitty
Shhhh... no one in my family knows though :) I only do it when they aren't home.
I never was a "cat person", but when we got her in August as a present for my DS, I just fell in love. She is so lovable. Can't imagine not having her....

Of course we do! And they do talk back... so we chat with each other

No, I'm not nuts, I seriously have very chatty cats :teeth:

Arf arf arf and arf arf. :dog2:

I talk to him all the time. He talks when he wants something, lol.

They seem human sometimes. Last week, he got up and gave me a meaningful stare. Which meant he wanted something. So I asked him, "what is it? What do you want?" He looked at me, and started lapping, like he was lapping a bowl of water. HE WAS THIRSTY AND WANTED WATER. So I got up and got him water. He ran to the bowl to drink. This is the first time I have been addressed in sign language by an animal, and no, we did not teach him to do that. And no, I am not making this up.

He's a better communicator than some of the college grads I work with, lol.

You betcha! I talk to our lab Jake all the time. Heck, I even talk to our fish (and I swear he/she hears me...LOL!) My DH jokes that he wishes he would get just a fraction of the attention Jake gets. When the kids are fighting or giving me trouble, I always turn to Jake and tell him at least he doesn't give me any grief! :dog:

Of course I do! Why wouldn't I--they don't talk back to me, ask for money, a trip to the mall, etc. :rotfl:

I talk to my deaf cat all the time!
(His name is Gabriel, because he's white like an angel :cat: and apparently it is somewhat common for white cats to be genetically deaf.)

agnes!

You mean there are people who DON'T talk to their animals?

PS...white cats....while genetically deaf....also have the genetic ability to read lips....

Just a little while ago I said to my cat. "Cat, " said I, "you can be replaced." Then with a pause to let that sink in, while she looked at me with disbelief I said, "with a DOG." and she ran and hid.

mwahahahahaha

I talk to my 3 Siamese cats as well!! :cat:

In fact, Bailey, the Blue Point female, is my best friend, when it comes to carrying conversations, lol. She'll just start a conversation with me any time she's awake. I answer her, she then responds to me, and it just goes on for a bit until I usually sit down, make a lap, and give her some well needed petting. All in all, I do ttalk to my cats!!! :teeth:

By the way, meezers, I think your two Siamese cats are beautiful!!!  :lovestruc Let them know, OK? (As if they don't know it already, anyway? lol) ;)

I talk to them all the time and sometimes they answer me when they're in the mood. And when they get scolded, they give me back talk and leave the room, just like rotten kids! :paw:

My cats would like to see pictures of your cats please!

Thanks...they have had a rough week...teeth cleaning and some extractions. I keep telling Hannah (retired show champions and breeder extroidinaire) that the anti-biotic and pain medication are for her own good....she is so not having any of that...plus they are not happy with their new food....

But....my new kitty (don't have him yet....still at the breeders) the red point boy....is doing well and the current favorite name is either "Gideon" or "Orange Pekoe"....comments welcome :)

I always talk to my little dog Bo. However, sometimes in public I forget myself and some people look at me like I'm a little weird. But I like being weird.

I think people who DON'T talk to their animals are the weird ones!

Not only that, but we tend to talk FOR her - telling each other what she is saying! It's a sickness.

Catsrule...do yours at least share that pillow with you? My Mavric has gotten very pillow hoggy lately!

I hurriedly read the responses because I wanted to know if anyone said they don't. I agree that they would be the weird ones!

We talk to our dog and cat all the time.

We talk to our three cats and dog all the time - and 'for'them at times too!!! I agree it would be weird NOT to talk to them!!! Bet we go one further as we talk to garden birds and animals we meet out and about too!!!! Gosh that looks weird written down in black and white!!!!!!

Yep, I talk to all of my pets, even the leopard geckos. I also agree that it would be weird not to.

I talk to my dog all the time and she knows what we say. We tell her, "Go lay with Jack" and she jumps off our bed and goes into our son's room. She's brilliant I tell ya- brilliant!! :teeth:
