Do you take your iPad into the parks??

I'm still trying to decide if I even want to take it on our vacation, much less the parks. I mean... where would you store it when you ride rides? For anything with a height restriction, one of us will have to sit out with DS, but both of us will ride with him on the other rides. And I don't want to leave an $800 electronic sitting in the stroller...

You could put it in your bag/purse and take it on rides with you.. Although I dont see why you need it in the parks. Growing up, I didn't have gameboys and nintendo and mp3 and iPad to amuse myself with in lines. As a family, we talked or played I spy.

If you're worried about entertaining your DS, pick up a hidden Mickey book!

I'm leaving mine at the resort. The only reason I'm taking it at all is for the airplane rides and killing time at the airport.

I took my Ipad2 3G for the internet access (refuse to pay $10/day for wi-fi) but left it in the hotel room. Just buried it under a bunch of dirty laundry. No problem.

Of course my kids were old enough to be set along on their own (13yo and 15 yo) with numerous check-ins via text, phone, or in person, so it wasn't like we had to keep them entertained.

I would hate to lug that thing around the parks. Was crazy enough dragging it around the airport.!

There is no reason for your iPad at the parks. My DD brought her laptop for downloading pics from her camera, but didn't bring it to the parks. At the parks you want to be as unencumbered as you possibly can be. I carry a lanyard with a pouch for CCs, tickets, money. I put my camera on a neck strap, phone & car key in a pocket.

I always travel with it, but I rarely, if ever, bring it into the parks. If I'm on a solo trip, I might bring it to dinner as my "book", but that's about it. But, it would be easy to keep it in a small backpack or shoulder bag; those can be taken on any ride at WDW safely.

In the resort room, I just leave it on the dining room table. I trust Mousekeeping not to steal it, and if they do, well, that's what insurance is for.

No iPad... but I'm debating my Droid phone- HTC Desire. Not sure if I should take it. Don't want to lose it, or get it wet....

But I can use the mobile Disney site to find characters, take pictures, etc...

We would never take our ipad to any parks. Too much of a risk and really there's no need. For our trip next month, I'm trying to convince my husband and sons that the only electronic gadgets we should take on the trip at all are our phones and the portable DVD player for our grandson on the plane. Not having much luck convincing them yet. :sad2:

I sometimes see people with them. It is actually pretty funny when someone is trying to use it as a Camera. :lmao:

If you want to bring it to the park then why not? It is yours and no more valuable than other things you will likely bring. It is all about how you want to spend your time on vacation.

I took mine into Discovery Quest that is a zzzzzzzz for me. My DBF and daughter did that roller coaster simulator multiple times and I played Sudoku on the ipad

The funniest thing at the park is watching the zombies walking around the parks with the gamboy, PSP, iPad, you name it. Come on, you are at Disney! Are you really that bored that you need your gadget?

I'll give you a pass if you are using one of the apps that tell you stuff about the park.;)

this post reminds of a family I saw while waiting in Innoventions for DH and friends to ride mission space. I was sitting on a bench and across from me was a man, a woman, and a young girl.

I'm assuming they were husband/wife (given the rings), and daughter.

Assumed daughter was playing on her ipad. Assumed parents were both starring at their phones. Not one word was uttered by 1 of them the entire half hour I sat there. Every time I looked over at them, they were staring at their screens.

It made me sad for them. I felt like they were missing out on quality time together....time to bond....ya know?

Now, I know I was missing out on quality time of my own. But I didn't want to vomit for the rest of the day...:headache:

A note for any flames...I really have no idea of their relationship/their lives/anything. It was just an observation of strangers while I waited for DH/friends to appear.

So my thought, OP, is to leave the ipad at the resort....not only because it's expensive and you'd kick yourself if something happened to it, but because it could make you miss out on real human interaction and probably better memories than you'd make looking at that ipad.
