Since it won't bring brutally hot in November when we travel.....is there still a need to take a break from the park? MK closes at 10 pm, HS 8 pm etc

When my kids were younger we would break mid day, but now with teenagers we're all nighters!

We still take breaks around noon or 1 pm, even though the kids are older. They enjoy going to the pool during this break and I either go shopping or just relax in the room.

We always take a break in the afternoon regardless of the weather. Gives me a chance to freshen up.

I'm old.............we take breaks during any season :lmao:

Actually we've been during 95deg days in May.........on days we didn't break (yes there were a few :rotfl:) we looked for cool off locations.........shows....shops......."Its a small world" (although that darn song....:scared1:)

Doug :goofy:

Nope, there's absolutely no need for my family to break at lunch, and we've had 2 kids under 5 on both our last trips. The one who still takes naps would nap in the stroller if they needed it, and we would save the 3ish hours we would lose JUST in going back and forth to the hotel (walk from random spot in the park to the bus, wait for bus, travel to hotel, walk to room, repeat in reverse to go back to park) plus whatever time we were "napping".

Honestly if my kids needed to take this break mid day I'd just stay close to home and do something there, no sense going to Disney for us if we're losing 6+ hours each day this way. Plus, we NEVER have enough time in the parks, and keep adding extra days to the end of the next trip to fix this but we find ourselves in the same boat each and ever time :confused3

First trip to Disney so not talking from experience. However, we have no plans to return to our resort for a 'rest' or break. Our kids do not nap, and we are staying at AofA, so would be a big time waster. However, even if we were on the monorail, I couldn't' see us heading back, for the same reason. Instead when we want to rest our feet, we'll just find somewhere to sit down for a bit. And we have one sit down ADR a day to ensure we get some unwind time. Also we do have a non-park day where we will either head offsite, or just enjoy our resort pool, etc and take it easy.

Our last 2 trips have been in Oct/Nov. We get to the parks at RD pretty much every single day, so around 2-4pm we leave and take a break back at the hotel. After a rest, we're back at it to another park for dinner and a few rides. My girls were 7 & 9 on our last trip.

Our only two family trips were both in November. Given the "shortened" park hours during that time, we tried NOT to take a break during the day. Our first trip about 4 years ago, when my boys were younger, we did go back to our condo around dinner time (early) on some nights as opposed to staying for park closing. But on our trip this previous November, we were able to go pretty much all day. Similar to Frozen2014, we made sure to take rest /snack breaks throughout the day. We also scheduled an "off" day during the middle of the week, where we went to one of the water parks.

We do, but we do from pre-opening to a late night dinner and are at a monorail hotel so it's just a zip or boat ride away.

A little rest, a quick change, and we're back out there. :thumbsup2

We don't even go with kids and we always take the break in the middle of the day in November. We like to use the pool and spend time around the resort. The parks get more and more crowded in the afternoon and we are there for rope drop so taking a break to hang out at the resort is great! We have an ADR each night for dinner so that give us time to rest, shower and get ready to head out for the evening. It is much less exhausting and my feet aren't as tired as they would be if we stayed all day long into the night.

Our last two trips have been in mid November and we usually take breaks in the middle of the day. We do this to enjoy the pool at the resort. Because it is November and not super hot, the only time we have found it hot enough to enjoy the pool is midday. Then we head back to the parks in the evenings.

:confused3 We never take breaks :confused3

We are a youngish couple (late twenties-early thirties) and active. We also only have one child. We don't get to vacation often, in fact, this will be our first in three years, so we certainly make the most of it. I suppose people call it "commando" touring :lmao:

I'm in my mid-twenties and my husband's in his early thirties. We are going to WDW for the first time together in December. We don't plan on taking any breaks! Maybe it's ambitious, but we want to maximize our time in the parks. We are on the deluxe dining plan, so I'm hoping having quite a few ADRs will give us a little bit of a break without trekking all the way back to the hotel.

No way for us. We tried it was always a failure - and our trips have had some very young kids on them. However, we leave the parks when one child acts like it's time to leave. That time has been getting later and later as they get older. Our first trip had a 2 month old and 3 year old - we left around 5pm usually. The kids are now 11, 8, and 5 - so our goal is to be back at our hotel at around 8pm most nights - though we may split up so the 11 year old can stay out later.

Pre-kids, we were rope drop to close and definitely didn't need a break either. We are still morning-commando style but we slow the pace way down for a couple hours in the afternoon. So, they have some downtime in the park.

We've never taken breaks, except to swim once, and to change into our MNSSHP costumes. Otherwise, we are in the parks from open to close. We have gone every year since the kids were 2 and 4, now 9 and 11. :goodvibes

We also go in the off season, and with the shorter hours, I just don't feel like we have time to go back to the room for a break! Our kids will nap in the stroller, so we end up doing a sort of break in the park in the afternoon, where we maybe grab a drink or an ice cream and take turns sitting with the stroller and using baby swap. It's plenty for us.

We also tend to do one TS meal a day, so that acts as a break as well. For us it is less important to take a nap vs. just spending some quality time in the AC! It's nice to get cooled down before heading out to close the park down!

We went in February and took breaks because dd needed a nap. It would've made for a very long day otherwise, plus we stayed at WL so coming back from MK was easy. I'm not sure what we'll do for our upcoming December trip. She's dropped her nap. We are staying on the monorail, so we'll probably just play it by ear!

We have been going in the Sept./Oct. timeframe for over 12 years now and we find that it is best to take an afternoon break due to the heat. It may be Fall but this isn't New England and most days have heat indexes well into the high 80's, 90's and sometimes 100's. By taking a break we get a chance to enjoy the POP pools or just read and take a nap. Then, we are much more refreshed at night to enjoy the events!:surfweb:
