Hi I was wondering if you take a travel kettle for the hotel when staying at Disney, my Mum wants her tea! Is it okay to do this or can we hire one from the hotel.

Thank you!:goodvibes

Yes we take our own kettle as the coffee makers never boil the water and therefore the tea tastes horrible! We have the Russell Hobbs which we got in Argos a few years ago.

Claire ;)

We bought a fairly cheap one from Wal Mart while we were out there and left it in our hotel when we came back.

More room in the suitcase for pressies! :thumbsup2

Amazed to read this, can't believe Disney still don't provide Kettles, coffee and tea in their rooms along with free wireless access inroom.
Don't think they are ever going to tempt me back onsite.
Marriott hotels 2 mins off site £25/night include everything. I guess they must fill the rooms without offering things like this.

They provide coffee makers and coffee but not a kettle for tea! Although the DVC units all have kettles or so I am led to believe. Mind you no hotel over on the West Coast last year had a kettle either just coffee makers!!

ah, not so bad then, they are improving. In 2000(Xmas) they did not even have coffee maker in ASM.
We use coffee makers just to get hot water then add it to either tea of coffee in the cup.
They just need to give free wireless access now, I am not paying them $500/year to access the net. $10/day is a rip off with what they charge for rooms.

Not all DVC units have a kettle, although they all have coffee makers. The studios don't have kettles, and I think you may need to request one from housekeeping in the larger units. I still take my travel kettle with me :)

I'd still prefer to be onsite and take a kettle with me! ;) I guess it depends on what each of us consider to be 'worth it'.

I've yet to stay anywhere in Florida that has provided a kettle automatically alongside the coffee-maker. I've tried making tea with the hot water from a coffee maker, but it's never hot enough and always tastes of coffee!

I've always used the coffee makers if no kettle without a problem, but I can drink tea/coffee/black/white/with/without/weak/strong not fussy with my drinks.
I think maybe we should try a moderate room sometime to try Disney again but did not enjoy ASM compared to offsite, but then we spend more time at Universal, SW, Busch and other places. Disney is only a small part of our holiday.

Ah, now I'm quite fussy when it comes to my tea! ;) I wouldn't lose any sleep if I couldn't have it, but I do like a cup in the morning if possible :)

If we're not visiting the WDW parks, we stay onsite only if we have DVC points to use up. Otherwise we stay wherever makes sense for what we plan to do/where we plan to go. We mix n match our Florida accommodation to suit each trip.

We've stayed in DVC one bed villas in OKW a few times and BW Villas, neither had kettles. We stay in Marriott Vacation club places now and they have the lot!! IMO they are a lot better than the DVC hotels, but I will admit you feel more 'part of it' in DVC.

We always boil the water for our tea in the coffee maker. It's hot, it's wet and it's TEA!!! :cloud9: Although as we live in a hard-water area, I find tea tastes quite different anywhere away from home! ;) :rotfl:

Another vote for buying a cheap kettle from Walmart. Our travel kettle takes forever using US voltage. If you buy a US kettle, you can always pack your it full of socks so that you don't waste space when you bring it home. Ours goes backwards and forwards over the atlantic every time we visit WDW. I'm a girl who loves her tea. When it's tea I want, nothing else will do.

Although you can use the WDW coffee makers to heat water for tea, it tastes terrible cos the jug is enfused with coffee.
