We do. I am pretty fanatical about it. I crush cereal boxes, recycle the junk mail. Of course we do plastic and cans too. Our township will only pick up clear glass, though. I tried to talk DH into "taking" the other colored glass, mostly beer bottles, to the recycle center. So far he's not cooperating!! Sometimes I trash pick them and do it myself.

At work, we have no recycle pick up, so we put receptacles there and we take turns taking plastic and cans home. The paper recycling we put in the cardboard dumpster. One guy at work completely refuses to cooperate and every day I trash pick his newspaper and lunchtime soda bottle.

The people I babysit for recycle NOTHING. I have been trying to talk the KIDS into doing it, but it's falling on deaf ears! I trash pick recycles there, and bring them home.

Why wouldn't someone want to recycle?? I don't understand...

Yep, we recycle here too, Dorothy. If you have to throw it into a container, why not THAT one instead of THAT one? So simple. Since recycling was instituted in our town, maybe 15 or so years back, we have so much more recycling trash than garbage trash. It truly is amazing, and when you think of that multiplied by millions of people, it is scary. Good for you.

we have regular trash pick up and recyle pick up here in our city.......we also happen to be the highest city that recycles.........we have a blue bin that we put our glass ......our plastic......our cans.....and our newspapers and magazines .........the truck comes and has different areas that this goes in..........then he throws our bin on our lawn......we also have spring clean up here and we can put out major things that our trash will not pick up.......minus tires of course.........we are also one of the highest taxed cities in the state......but we do have trash pick up still....

We recycle all the time. It takes so little extra time and it is so good for everyone involved. We used to have recycling bins but our village just replaced them with recycling cans that are just as big as the garbage cans. Nice!

Yep....we have trash cans in the garage for aluminum, paper, tin, plastic and newspaper.
It gets hauled about once every 3 months.
We started about 12-13 years ago.

Of course! I recycle anything that is recyclable- plastic, glass, tin, paper of all kinds...every garbage day they not only pick up the garbage, but the yard trimmings and the recycles...I wish Portland would switch to the San Jose plan---they just have one HUGE (bigger than the garbage can) trash can that you throw ALL recycles in- you can mix everything up and even throw away small appliances in there- how easy is that! Here is Portland we still have to separate everything, but it's not a huge deal.

Our town has a recycling pickup. They take many plastics, glass bottles and jars, cans and paper.

We recycle but it's weird, all the cans , glass and plastic go into the recycle bin , no paper cardboard or anything. I used to separate everything and then the garbage company would just dump the papers and cardboards with the regular garbage, now I have a box for just papers and cardboard, a trash can for regular garbage and then the recycling bin. DH is recycling impared but we always catch him in the act and make him take it out. The kids know better, I use the mother earth will get sick if you don't recycle story, they don't want that.

We recycle. We have weekly pickup with the garbage.

We recycle. Our council has recycling boxes that we put out with the bin. We have a huge recycle centre about 5 minutes from our house where we can take larger items to. Even before this started I would put recycalable items into seperate boxes and take them to the local recycling centre.

I am a recycling fanatic.

My inlaws in Vegas do not recycle and it drives me nust when we visit not be able to have someplace to put the recyclables. (geesh, that doesnt look like its spelled correctly).

I am wondering, if you do not recycle is it because there is no pick up or because you just don't want to?

We have a large trash can and they pick up for paper, aluminum, most glass and number 1 and 2 plastics. When we lived in Hollywood you could also recycle number 6 plastics.

People don't do it because they're lazy OR there isn't a convenient set-up for recycling. (when your garbage company doesn't provide the containers, it's tough for busy people to do it on their own.)

On our regular garbage pick-up day, we set out seperate containers for yard clippings and a double container for glass/plastic and for paper of all kinds. Even an empty paper towel roll doesn't leave this house in the garbage can - it goes into the paper recycling!

DISshopkeeper, I guess I'd better recycle, since my hubby was the "recycling cop" in the Philly tv and billboard campaign:D ("If you don't recycle, I'll give you a ticket")

We recycle sometimes. I don't think the recycling system in WI is as good as the one in IA. All we have here is a small bin. In IA you have a big trash can that is divided into 2 sections. One for paper and one for the rest of the stuff.

Really! Hey, goodstarr, I knew somebody that looked just like that guy. He used to go to our former church.

We used to laugh so hard whenever we saw this commerical!

Hey here's somehting interesting, in my town in S.Jersey, they do provide recyclable bins.

However, if you put it out, it goes in the TRASH TRUCK! My township privately contracts out the garbage. More than once I have seen them dump the recycles into the regular trash truck.

We recycle probably not everything we could but we do make an effort
All our plastic, cans, glass go in one garbage can for recycling
paper is separate

Cindy, we laughed hard too! I'll tell DH he has a recycling twin out there somewhere. What was even funnier was Jay Leno held up one of the recycling door hangers with DH's picture on it and said that his band leader (I forget his name) was actually moonlighting as the recycling guy. The Philly Inquirer this weekend had an article about recycling and mentioned DH (stating that he was cute:D ) Something I already knew;)

Yes, I recycle. My town provides a recycling can that is for glass bottles, cans, etc., that gets picked up the same day as our regular garbage, once a week. We also have newspaper pickup once a month. I recycle other items as well. :sunny:
