Do you really go to Disney every year or every other year?

We go once a yr to OKW, and now we will go off-site to VB once a yr. Once we retire in 6 yrs .......look out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

We bought into DVC last year. We have been going every year since 1998. We will continue to go once a year until we can get more points.

We go at least once a year...but have been up to 3 times in a year. Would live there if I could. :p

Most of you must think I am crazy.

I really expected that after I moved to Weston, near Ft Lauderdale, that I would be making all kinds of trips. We really haven't changed our vacation habits very mouch. Basically, just a once a year trip. I have only done two or three short trips in the five years I have been down here.

Five years, well not quite, it will be five years this fall.

That is always my yardstick for how long I have been on this site. I found this site about a year before we moved to Florida.

Most of you must think I am crazy.

Rich, Why would you think that in your above quote??:p

When we were deciding whether to do DVC, we realized we had gone to WDW an average of 2 out of every 3 years. We not only went to the parks, we used it as a base of operations to run over to the beach or the Space Center. Plus, there was always something we hadn't quite gotten around to seeing or something they were building that we had to come back to see. (right now that would be the Mission:Space in Epcot). So, it looked like a good deal, at least in the short run.

Since buying in we've discovered other reasons to go - the Food & Wine Fest is a great adults only getaway, DS and I have popped down for a short trip to see the Christmas decorations, Vero turned out to be awesome and a new reason to go to Florida. All these things are part of WDW, but not really "park". If we consider that we usually have frequent flyer passes and actually like to cook in the room, the trips become practically free - especially in years when we have an annual pass.

Just another point of view...we have owned since 1997 and have been going every 8 months or so. At this point not only are we tired of going but our 9 year old son wants a change. It looks like now we will go every 2-3 years, and visit Hilton Head more often.

Lack of enough time and money are the only reasons we don't go more than a couple of times a year.:smooth:

My DW and I hit the DCL in Jan, Sept, and Dec of 2001. We hit WDW in January, May, Sept, Dec, and Dec again in 2001. We joined DVC in April of 2000. It was the best thing that we ever did.

We've gone to WDW at least once every year since 1987. I love it and luckily so does DH. Even my kids who are now 19 and 16 1/2 love it. Obviously DVC was the perfect purchase for us.

I'll be dropping in at least twice a year - WDW is a great place for a single person like me, I can stay busy on my own if I need to - but I've got 5 trips booked this year, two weekends, one 5-night and two week-long trips, and will be accompanied on all of them. WDW is a short and relatively cheap flight from DC, and I wouldn't mind going down there without setting foot in any parks!

Just wanted to weigh in on the side of less frequently. I have only been a member for a few years but do NOT go every year. We used to go every 2 years and now that we are members go about every 18 months.

This DOES work well! We usually go for a longer stay (10-12) days and bring family and friends (they help offset costs by paying for some of their points). This fall we are spending 3 nights at WLV and 6 nights at the BWV Grand Villa - can't wait! We still save an incredible amount of money - I am even thinking of buying a resale at BWV (our homeresort) to add on!

As has been mentioned, you can always rent out your points or even sell your contract if you find you aren't going as often.

DVC is still great even if you don't go several times a year!

We bought into the DVC in 1995 and my husband and I go once a year for 10 to 12 nights. We purchased 310 points and added 100 points on two years ago. Our two married children alternate and go every other year with us, so we get great use out of our points. Planning to bank and also borrow one year to use a Grand Villa for all three families soon. It's the greatest purchase we have ever made.

We go every yr. We tend to do longer trips, inviting family or friends (not both, they don't mesh too well;) ) We own 250 points and this yr we are going to buy an AP and slip back before they expire in May 03. I have 2 small children and between day care, parochial school, after school care, I can only afford to go once a yr. But let me tell you, we do not want for anything when we go. It turns out ot be an expensive vacation, but I'm not complaining :p

My childhood started at the age of 29, with my first WDW visit. I've been making up for a lot of lost time and although I get a LOT of grief about it, it's where I am happy 24/7. I have a pic of WL sittng in front of me at work and I daydream about my other home. We try to get there twice a year for 8-12 nights. It's not for everyone, but most here will agree that familiarity does breed contempt and that's part of what makes us addicts.

Now that we own (at VWL) I am constantly checking Orbitz for good fares out of the NYC area. My DD and I went ,due to a very cheap flight ($98 rt!), and went this past Feb. All of us will go down for DH's first trip as owners in July. Little does he know that I booked another trip for this New Years Eve! I can't get enough and neither can DD. It's DH that isn't crazy about WDW. I just hope that this July his mind willl change and he'll get more enthsiastic about going!

We go three times a year and there are years when either our son or daughter and there families go also. We have just added on more points at the BCV and our looking forward to our first visit there probably in January. We visit every Xmas it's a family tradition, and then we visit during the winter, usually January & Feburary, now with the added points we may stay and visit in March!
We started visiting in 72 and have gone there almost every year since, We purchased in 91, the DVC was one of the best thing that could have happened for our family. We just can't seem to get enough of the place!

DW and I have been members since 2000 and have been going at least two times a year. Normally with our 270 points we own at OKW we have enough to go twice a year. This year we had some extra dollars from Uncle Sam, Okay actually they were mine to begin with, so we planned an Easter trip that we paid cash for. We will be going again the first week of June for a week with both DD's. And then in December we are taking our neighbors, my brother and niece and staying in a 2 bedroom at OKW.

Is it worth it you ask. Yes, DW and I buy AP's so that we can go to the park when we want but we also do other things like enjoying different dining options, swimming at the pool or just enjoying refreshments while soaking up the sun by the pool.

Oh, and by the way, before you ask so far we have never been to IOA or US or Sea World and have no desire to go to those places.

:smooth:

We live out west, so we can only go around once a year or 1 1/2 years, depending on purchases of AP's. We skipped 2000 in WDW, but did head out to Disneyland for a Disney-fix. We have visited Disneyland every year since 1986 before we found WDW in 1997 and bought in to DVC.

We did WDW in June 2001, and are going back end of May 2002, but won't be returning until October 2003.

If we lived closer and did not have to pay such high airfares for a family of five, we would probably make two shorter trips a year. So, we make one long trip instead!

We own at BWV. We just renewed our APs during our trip last week, and we will be able to use the passes for 3 more trips (Oct, Dec, Mar '03).
