Do you own your dream home?

So, do you own your dream home?

We don't, currently, but we both have dreamed of living in a log cabin since we were kids. In looking at houses in the area that we hope to move to sometime very soon, we found our dream home. We are not ready to move yet, but it's the perfect house in so many ways. Before the housing market crashed, it was listed at over $500,000, which we could never afford. However, it's now below $175,000 and we think we can actually talk them down a bit more because it is a bank owned home and even if they won't budge on the price, it's still within our ability to afford, but if we can save a little more, so be it. :thumbsup2

My fiance has some family obligations that would make being closer to them so much easier than what we are going through now. It stinks only seeing each other for 5 to 10 days out of the month. This would be the ideal home for us to raise a family and I am positively giddy at the thought of us both having our dream home. I am going to need a new job, hopefully with the same company that my fiance works for because I am very familiar with the software and in working for them, we both could work from home. Of course we need to either sell our current home or maybe even rent it out. I have no idea how renting it out is going to work being a state away, but I guess if this is meant to be, that it will all work itself out.

Yes. Because it's paid for.

Yes, we bought our dream home almost four years ago. It's a log and cedar home nestled in the pines, in the country four miles from town, and only 35 miles to the nearest city. We love it and it's our forever home. We hope to have it paid off in seven years and then it'll be perfect. :lovestruc

I hope you get your log home too! :goodvibes

We have our dream mortgage payment :thumbsup2

House is smaller than most of the people on here own, but we have done all sorts of upgrades over the years and it's on 2 acres of land. I love our house, I think it's very pretty. It's not my dream home, but we are very happy here. $417 payment and only 14 years to go. Plus our daughters are going to be graduating high school in a couple of years, so we don't really want to upgrade or move. It's safe and quiet and we have a beautiful view of the foothills of NC. SO pretty in the fall.

Now, my dream home would be a brownstone in Manhattan. That ain't gonna ever happen.

Any house where my family's with me is my dream home!

Hope you get your log cabin -- hope it all works out!

It's not a dream home, but it's just right for us now. If we could pick it up and move it to Florida, I think it'd be our dream home.:)

No, but I'm still happy in the house I own. I don't intend to move about until my children have both left the house. And then it will be into a smaller condo or apartment near the historic district of my city.

I don't know that I have a "dream home". I like our house, it has all of the features we want but I don't know that it is a "dream" home.

Unfortunately, DH and I have different ideas about what a "dream home" is! So, no, not my dream house.

But, we have a very nice home and 2.5 acres and we enjoy it.

Dawn

nope, not dream home. Someday we'll move but we are in our starter home. We won't be moving til both our DD's are out of high school and we can then move to wherever in the country we want.

We say the same thing, except on the other coast in California. If I could have my house out there, then it would truly be a dream home. But, sadly, an affordable house in the Austin burbs would be at least a million bucks in Cali. :(

Not yet, when DD graduates from highschool (6 more years) we are going to build a new house. I have a binder and as I find things I like the layout, I take a picture and stick it in the binder. One day...

No, I am not in my dream home, but I like the house that we are in. I would like it better if I could redo my kitchen! :lmao:

I am not sure what my dream home would even be. For years I have said that I want the house in "Father of the Bride" or a home like in the movie "Christmas Vacation", but when it comes down to it, I am just not sure. :rotfl2:

The next time we move, which should be in the next year or so because of Dh's job, I think we will build. It will most likely be our home for a LONG time.

Yes! We feel very blessed to be where we are. We built our home 8 years ago. It's not a mansion but it's more than we ever thought we could have and we love it.

Yes, we custom built on a great view lot 2 years ago.It is a dream home. Of course it is not my FANTASY home, that one would take winning the lottery.

Nope, but we do like it here, and it will be paid off on my 40th birthday (less than 6 years to go!).

Nope because we live in an apartment. My dream home is a house with a wraparound porch in the woods where I could just sit and live peacefully. I would need some land to have a big garden. Instead, I get to hear the guy upstairs play the electric guitar a couple of times a day. He is quite good, but it still is annoying most of the time.

Now, I'm starting to dream about any house being my dream home.

Yes, but I didn't know I did until I put it on the market and began looking for another home in another part of New England. While it wasn't perfect; (glaringly outdated kitchen and bathrooms), we could not find something we liked that gave us the amount of square footage, first floor master bedroom, privacy, yard and pool without spending thousands of dollars more than we would get if we sold. So now the kitchen is almost done, two bathrooms are almost done, and our house is paid for. In the future I picture our dream home in a warmer climate. We have really loved this past summer and hate to see it end.

I did. Sold it 7 years ago to move closer to my job after last child moved out. Now we live in town in a planned community in a smaller home. No regrets. It's just a building.

I don't know if I would call my home my dream home, but I often dream that I am having to move out of it, and I am always so disappointed over it. I love my home and my neighborhood. I just don't like where he are located...we are on the gulf coast and hurricanes are a yearly scare.
