In other words, do you pass out candy to the kiddies dressed up in costume? pirate: princess:

Or do you just turn off the lights and pretend you're not home on October 31st? :magnify:

I give out candy. Every year, though, fewer and fewer children ring my bell. More than half of the trick or treaters are really big kids, like 15 or 16 or even college age.

We need more little kids in this neighborhood :)

We live so far out in the boonies that we've never had a kid knock on the door on halloween. There are several kids my dd's age living on our street but they've always went elsewhere to trick or treat (who wants to walk a couple miles to hit three or four houses? lol)

Absolutely!

In fact, when we were first married, DH and I made a pact never to give out "cheapo" candy for Halloween. You know, the stuff that's still sitting in the bowl when Thanksgiving rools around! We only give out things like Snickers and Hershey Bars.

We don't trick or treat anymore. The reasons being that my DD11 doesn't really like to do it anymore, especially since it's always during the day here in our city. My DS5 doesn't like candy of any kind.

So...last year we decided that on this day we go out for lunch at the place of their choice and have dessert and then go to Barnes & Nobles to browse and each gets to buy 2 books. They are looking forward to it. (My DS will have a costume party in his K-class).

Hand out treats to the little ones and some not so little. We turn on porch light during the hours that are listed in paper for trick and treaters. We do not decorate for Halloween our church frowns on that.:wave2:

I hand out treats but do not dress up myself. I usually turn off the outside light around 8 or 8:30 as the teenagers are then out with their huge pillowcases full of candy.

We decorate the yard and even dress up the dogs. We give out candy until it runs out but only ever had that happen once. We have tons of kids in our neighbourhood and last year I think I counted about 150 trick-or-treaters. I love the little ones who like to rummage through the bowl of goodies to pick what they like. DS likes to decorate but is now too old for going out. DD usually goes out with friends who have little siblings and takes them around.

I just finished putting up my decorations. I have orange twinkly lights on every bush, pumpkin lights in every window and a projection light of a huge Happy Halloween Pumpkin on the front of the house between two windows. We'll get a couple of 100 lb pumpkins for the front yard and throw a big neighborhood party the week before Halloween. On Halloween we pass out full size candy bars and I dress up too. Yes, I guess you could say we celebrate Halloween. ;)

We are only one of two houses who puts up decorations on the whole street. I know the kids in the neighborhood LOVE it and their parents? Not so much. Oh well. You can't please everyone. I love my tacky Halloween Haunted house!! :)

We give out candy, but living out in the country, only the neighbors stop by.

I love passing out treats!!! When the boys were younger, DH would take them around trick-or-treating so I could pass out the candy!:D

We have trick or treating hours during the day when many parents are at work and can't take the kids around so we don't get many kids. My neighbor and I usually take the kids up to the local business district to go trick or treating. I wouldn't mind at all if instead of trick or treating, I could take the kids to a party somewhere.

I love Halloween!!!!!!!!!! If we are home we pass out candy!! WE even put the dog in a costume!!!!! Our wedding anniversary is on Halloween so we are not going to be home this year!!! We will be in Canada for a week. When we are home we DEFINATELY hand out candy!!!!! I guess it is time to get my decorations out!!!!! Most people have a Christmas village we have a Halloween village!!!!

Well DH & I just bought 2 huge bags of candy at Costco and I brought up the 5 ceramic pumpkins I have from the basement. So I guess you could say, we "celebrate!" I am hoping that since this year it falls on a Friday we will have lots of kids (and get rid of all that candy!).

we don't do either -- no one trick or treats in our apartment building... i would pass out candy if they did though.

If you have any left feel free to send it my way!!!! :hyper:

We give out treats and decorate. That's not as much fun as costume parties though...:D

We give out treats (we have over 100 visitors each year). DS 3 will not like it this year. He doesn't like costumes at all (on him or anyone else).

We do give out candy, but I always tell the individuals have a wonderful fall season. I also give candy according to age. The youngest treats receive animal cookie packs instead of the chocolate. Also, neighbors are given homemade bread. The kids I know are given full size candy bars.
