Do you love where you live?

I live in Winter Garden, FL.

I don't really like it, even though we're 10 minutes from Disney. I can see the perks of living in Florida if you live on the coast and can go to the beach, but I HATE the heat (it's November and still in the 80's...that probably sounds great to some people! )

I want to live up in new England so seeing all these posts about how great New Hampshire is makes me happy! Right now DH works for Disney so there's no chance of moving but hopefully someday we can move north and I can see SNOW again!

heehee we are the opposite of you. I loved the weather in Florida having it be warm all year long and all the New Hampshire posts have me going NO WAY! Nothing personal, I'm sure the people who live there are quite happy but, we just have no interest in all the snow and ice and cold. Brrrrrrrrr

I live in Newport Beach, CA. Love it!

DH&I have only lived here since summer '08 so we are still new-ish!!! Coming from New England I will say our first winter here last year was fabulous. No snow, no storms, no black ice, no horrific freezing temps, no rain, no humidity. Just lovely warm sun 24/7!!

There is just so much to see and do in Southern California.

Oh...and Disneyland is 20 minutes away!

mufreesboro, tn is my favorite city in the world! we're an average sized city, with lots of things to do, places to go, restaurants to eat at, and we're really close to nashville too. we have a college (mtsu.) and new people come to town every day. its a beautiful city on the geographic center of tennessee. we have warm summers and (usually no snow) calm winters.

its a great place to live!

my parents moved to northern delaware and the love it. they're close to NJ, PA, and MD and they have no tax on anything and super low real estate tax. i would love to move there when i have a family. the nice thing is that most of the homes are in developments in delaware so you have a lot of people who also have kids living around you. another good thing about delaware is that it doesn't really snow in the winter, last year my mom's school closed for 1 inch of snow one day, the rest of the winter was mostly dry.

we live in western mass and although beautiful in some spots, there are a number of huge college towns that make it super busy during the school year. january and the summer months are nice and slow though. the good thing about living around so many colleges is that there is always something to do on the weekends. plus living near the yankee candle flagship store (and chandlers, yum!) has it's perks too! also, we're only 1.5-2 hrs away from boston, which makes for a great day trip! the winters can be brutal here, so you'd really have to love the snow to want to move here.

NJ is not an easy place to live, but I do love it here. Mountains are to the west, New York City to the east, and the shore is South.

I love my town. We have the most wonderful neighbors imaginable. Spring time here is like one big block party. Everyone has backyard parties that everyone around is invited to join. High school football games are another great place to socialize. Homecoming weekend is coming up and I'm so excited! This is really a terrific town.

I don't know if I'd recommend it to anyone outside the area. It's busy, busy, busy here. You have to be pretty tough to take it. Traffic is nuts. Home prices and taxes are insane.

Still, I am very happy here and feel blessed every day that we chose to buy a home here when we got married 15 years ago.

I love where I live. The town is small- main street is 3 blocks- but the outlying areas are growing. The school system is excellent which is causing the growth. We are only about 20 min from downtown Charlotte so can do anything cultural we want - we actually saw Bruce Springsteen last night . We have a several hundred acre greenway in our town that is full of wildlife. Close to plenty of shopping.

The town we live in has A LOT of transplants. I know very few people that were grew up here.

Please tell me more, we are highly considering moving to Waxhaw NC or Ft Mill SC but are scared that kids won't adjust, this is the only place they have ever known, but we have relatives not too far from there and we love the houses.

I LOVE where I live! Cedar Rapids is a nice sized city with almost 130k people, and it's surrounded by lots of nice small towns. Plus it's within about 20-30 minutes of Iowa City, which has the University of Iowa (school) and U of I Hospitals and Clinics, plus lots of cultural/arts events and things to do. I love having all 4 seasons, even though summer and winter can both be pretty extreme. The schools are overall very good.

We had a huge flood in the summer of 08 that displaced literally thousands of people in Cedar Rapids, and it's been amazing to see how everyone has pulled together for the recovery process. A little over a year later and most people are back in business and able to move on.

I'd highly suggest almost anywhere in eastern Iowa for anyone looking to relocate.

Honestly? No. I hate corn, I'm not a 'farm person' (grew up in the city), and I don't like "medium-sized" towns/cities. Would greatly prefer living in Chicago. Have to live here b/c of DH's job.

However, I confess that it's cheap to live here and, in my area, crime is very, very low. We also have some good friends here.

Still, if I won the lottery tomorrow, I'd be outta here in a flash!

How old are your kids? To be honest, your kids will probably adjust very well. They won't be the only 'new' kids in school. I know at DD's HS and middle school they have student ambassadors. Those students would show new students around the school and introduce them to other kids and help them get adjusted. DD is one in her HS this year- the kids have to apply for this and get recommended. There are plenty of sports or other types of youth activities for kids to be involved in.

I like being able to walk to the beach. I love fishing and kayaking in our backyard. I am from Western NY and while I miss my family and the lovely warm people there, I do not miss the snow/cold at all!

It has been easy to make friends here as most are from someplace else. I find the established communities much harder. For example, I liked living in Chicago but found it hard to make friends outside of work. The people were nice - but already had such a full plate of friends and family. For example, I had a baby there and while I got tons of gifts and flowers - no one felt close enough to come visit me in the hospital. I had no visitors outside of DH and that was kind of sad.

I don't know too much about Fort Mill, but Waxhaw is WONDERFUL! We looked there before we decided on Indian Trail. The only thing that kept us out of Waxhaw was that the homes we loved were just out of our price range.

I live in Gainesville Florida and love it! Home to the University of Florida and the National Champs- the Gators! It's a small, college town with so much to do-movies, museums, small shops, a little bit of country, etc. It's about 1 1/2 hours away from Disney World. IMO, it's perfect.

Western, NY is where we live & as I said before, I really don't like it because of the cold. Love my family & friends & would miss them terrible, but I long for warm weather all year long.

A while back somebody posted a thread that might have interested you. It had a link to a site where you could fill out a survey and determine which cities might be a good fit. I believe the link was to www.findyourspot.com. The number one city it came back with for me sounded like it would fit me perfectly. Perhaps you should try it and see what suggestions come back.
