I don't inspect for scuffs and nicks and etc - but I do wipe down surfaces/remotes/door handles no matter how clean they look. I think I watched one too many 20/20 episodes in my past.

Only once did I encounter something gross enough to warrant a call to mousekeeping - and that was a wad of towels that looked like they'd been puked in and then stuffed under the sink at BWV. I was very glad to have Lysol. :thumbsup2

I don't really inspect anything. But I know one thing, if there was a dead body in the closet with the vacum - I'd never find it. :rotfl:

I've stayed DVC twice and I don't check. Unless it's something glaring to me it's not a big issue. I will wash the dishes in the 1 or 2 bedroom though - I'm really picky about dishes. :)

Nope, we don't really check for issues. On our first DVC stay in a studio at AKV, we noticed that the door handle to the mini-fridge and the area around it on the counter top was super sticky, plus we also were not given enough towels, so we called housekeeping about those two things. They had the sticky stuff cleaned up in a jiffy and left us a bunch more towels. These were just things we happened to notice--we didn't check for them specifically.

We do a walk through and wash the dishes and utensils.

Anything broken, missing, or really in bad shape are reported immediately. We have learned that it may take a couple of days for Disney to respond so the sooner you report a problem, the better.

That's pretty much what we do too. I don't like to be surprised about a missing something or other in the kitchen, so I always check to see that everything is there. Once I got surprised and didn't have a pancake turner after I had already had the pancakes mixed up.

I have learned through the years that yes one should at least look things over to ensure you have the things needed to make you comfortable. I too load all the plates , glasses and utensils into the dishwasher. We do this if we are at Disney or in a rented house at the beach. I hate the idea of using these items when I do not know how clean the person was that used them before me.Other than that we have more important things to do than do a white glove inspection-----Donald Duck is calling.:rotfl2:

Experience has proven that a brief walk-thru to check that all doors lock properly, the key is in the wall-safe, and that there are no obvious deficiencies is time well spent. It's just easier to take are of things upon arrival than to discover and attempt to correct them right before bed-time. If something is obviously noticeable during our brief inspection (5 minutes or less), it's an issue that housekeeping should have noticed and fixed prior to arrival.

As others have noted, we also wash the dishes we're most likely to be using.

We don't look for dust bunnies or gum wrappers under the bed. Our DVC experience has taught us to settle for surface clean and to be content with that.

With the substandard housekeeping we have experienced the past few years, we definitely spend a few minutes checking out the unit. We learned from the housekeeping manager to also check the oven, since one time there were gobs of old melted cheese sticking to the racks.

I generally look around and check for glaring problems.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels that the housekeeping has gone down hill.

probably should look harder.

but if something is a problem will call.

the door to the balcony (and this was a handicapped room - would not open but a few inches. Knew from other studios that this was a problem.

another place the air conditioner was making really, really loud noises - it was put together wrong.

a few times there have been problems with the fans.

once when cooking found out that no hot mats - they came after we took the cookies out of the oven. BWV definitely seems to have the worst service (my opinion) - had to wet a towel and use that.

if it is a little thing and can use something else - since lazy might go that way.

I don't check for problems either. If I find something wrong with the villa, I will report it, but I don't check the unit before unpacking/settling in. On my last trip to the BWV, we had a list of 'small things' that built up the first day we were there (dead batteries in the remote, burnt out light bulb in the master bedroom, kitchen drawer that didn't close, etc.), so we called maintence the next morning and by the time we returned that afternoon everything was fixed.

We do a walk through, make sure bathrooms and frig are clean. The frig I got one time looked like something out of CSI. :scared1:

Anything "broke" we call immediately to get it fixed. Check for light bulbs, remotes, things we need to work. Do not get down on hands and knees and if dishes look clean I figure that is good enough.

Small stains and such I clean myself.

I walk through just because we're still pretty new to DVC ---I like to see the layout of the rooms. :goodvibes I check to see if the food came and is in the fridge. That's really about it. If there was anything horribly wrong I think we'd notice, but I don't do a thorough check.

The only problem we've had is the disposal didn't work at AKL, but we didn't know til we tried to use it. They were there in about 10 min to fix it.
