packed in water or oil? LOL...I know it's a stupid question, but I was making a sandwich earlier and I wondered why anyone would buy a can of tuna packed in oil. Maybe someone can enlighten me...:teeth:

I don't eat tuna (YUCK!). I buy the one packed in water for my SO. He thinks the oil one is nasty. I think it's ALL nasty.

Water. The packed in oil just sounds too heavy and slimy.

I wish they would just pack the tuna in pickle juice...then I wouldn't have to do that part myself. :)

I don't know anyone who buys tuna packed in oil. I'll stick with water.

Not to change the direction of the post - but has anyone tried the tuna packed in the bags? Just wondering if it tasted any fresher.

In water! Tkyes, I've tried the bagged tuna and didn't notice any real difference in the taste, but I did think it was too dry.

What does Tuna taste like? I can't even get past the way it looks or the way it smells.

Tuna in water for sure. Tuna in oil is just plain nasty in my opinion. One time I bought a can in oil by accident and I spent a lot of time rinsing it in a collander, but that still didn't make it any better.

Water. Who needs the extra fat and calories?

Only in water! :)

....then just with sum lemon juice and sum fresh ground black pepper on it! Yum! :)

water, for sure.

my mom claims she can tell a diffference between the bags and cans, but i didn't like the bags. they tasted the same to me, and as seashelley said, i thought it was dryer.

Grew up with tuna packed in oil. (They didn't know any better back then) The oil just gives it a different flavor.

Definately nothing but water packed now.

Albacore, water-packed (I add my own calories with mayo) and dill pickle relish added too.
I like the idea of it packed in pickle juice (dill of course) ;)

Albacore tuna packed in water.

CBRorBust, you should try albacore tuna if you think tuna looks gross. It's in chunks, more like chicken, and I don't think the smell is quite as strong. It's more expensive, but it's worth it. Mix it with mayonaise, sweet pickle relish, dill weed, and lemon pepper. Yum!

Like Dan, we eat albacore white tuna packed in water.

Like Newmousecateer I grew up eating tuna packed in oil. It's fine that way(after all most people put mayo on it--that's oil). I don't buy it in oil anymore, but it's not gross that way.

very interesting....all waters here...no oils...I still don't get the whole oil deal...LOL :jester:

I don't like any kind of canned tuna...makes me um...sick. I do like tuna in sushi or tuna steaks...yumm!! but canned tuna blech!!
