Do you sometimes....maybe even frequently....like to do things alone?

One of the coolest things I did on vacation was wake up before the rest of the family (sleepers), hit CitiWalk for a quiet breakfast (of my choice), and to the park super early. Blew through Universal Studios in an hour as a single rider, express-passer, early-riser!

2 best concerts I ever went to....alone. Great seats are available if you don't need to sit with someone!

Currently, I am SO craving a solo day trip to the beach. I want to get up, grab a chair, throw books and sunscreen in a bag and take off. Alone.

Mind you, I'm not always like this, but I do fairly regularly enjoy my solitude (and, to be honest, the freedom that comes with it) and I'm finding that many people think this is strange. Anyone else?

Oh heck no, I'm right there with you! I love doing things alone sometimes, it's a beautiful thing. It lets me sort out my thoughts and re-charge my batteries.

No, I don't think you're strange at all. DD finds it weird that I prefer to go to the movies on my own. I get to pick the movie AND get all the popcorn. She told me, "I can't wait until I'm old and it won't bother me to do that." :lmao: I shop alone--I prefer that, as well.

I like to wander around on my own at WDW, too, especially in the early morning when everyone is still asleep.

Isn't it amazing how something that once made you feel so vulnerable is now so liberating as an adult? :goodvibes

I don't think you're strange at all! While I sometimes love doing things with a lot of people, I frequently love the simplicity of doing things alone, too.

I am always with either my DH, kids, neighbors, friends, someone! I CRAVE time alone. My siblings are much older than I am and I grew up with a single parent, so I was like an only child in a very quiet house. I'm used to being independant too. I love my life with everyone in it now, but do miss some alone time. I really want to do a solo WDW trip but haven't quite rallied myself up to actually do it yet. One day...

I love having my alone time. I love it when everyone leaves the house and I can do stuff without the other people in the house getting in the way, having all their stuff on, and making continual messes.

I really prefer to go shopping alone so I can concentrate.

As for as dining alone, going to theme parks alone, or the beach, I would have to say that I prefer to have someone with me on those things. Not sure why.

But I think it's great that you feel good doing those things. I need to strive to get more comfort in doing that stuff on my own. It could be a long, lonely retirement if I don't!!;)

I prefer to shop alone. I also like to take walks alone...especially early in the morning at WDW or down the shore.

It's tough, though, when you have a family. Like, I'm not sure how I'm going to pull off my solo beach trip without being completely witchy to everyone. "Yes, dear, I know you like the beach too, but I don't WANT you to come along." - See, it doesn't sound right does it?

I love going out and doing things by myself. DH will take over in the evenings or on the weekends a lot of the time and I will inevitably end up at Borders, curled up in a chair, drinking frappucinos and reading until I completely lose track of time! I like going out to eat by myself-usually with a good book in hand. I enjoy going to the movies by myself as well. Too often, the movies I like are ones DH really doesn't enjoy so it makes a great escape for me.

I do love spending time with my family as well. Now that DH FINALLY has weekends off, we try to take one of the two days and spend it totally focused on the three of us and usually finding something fun to get into.

Going to DisneyWorld alone was one of the nicest, most relaxing days, I've had in a long time. I didn't have to worry about anyone else. I did what I wanted, when I wanted.

I've also gone to Broadway shows alone and enjoy sitting by the lake by myself.

Oh yes, I LOVE my alone time! I also love my family and spending time with them, but I need alone time, too.:)

I can get lost in a book, magazines, or a jigsaw puzzle for hours. I love being alone in my car, driving with the window down, listening to MY music. I love spending an afternoon (or an entire day!) shopping all by myself.

On vacations, I love to get up early and walk on the beach all alone, or spend some time at the parks or shopping areas by myself.

Definitely a perk to getting older is having less responsibility in life and getting to do whatever you what, whenever you want, and for as long as you want!:thumbsup2

I love it too! I'm NOT a shopper for recreation at all, but when I do have to head to the mall, I do so alone. Going with a group of people to browse is not my idea of fun! I wouldn't want to do a whole week vacation at the beach alone, but an afternoon with just me, a book, a cold drink and the waves sounds heavenly!

About 10 years ago I took a solo trip to Europe. I was tired of waiting until someone could go with me and since everyone kept having excuses I knew that day would never come, so I booked a flight, checked into a hostel and had the time of my life! It forced me to get out of my comfort zone and talk to other people instead of travelling companions. I met a lot of really nice people from all over that I would never have spoken to had I travelled with someone.

I love doing things alone, especialy in Disney. Single-rider is such a bonus!
I just got back from a trip to the mall by myself, and it's a lot easier to have willpower when you don't have a friend telling you that, "yes, you need this."

I enjoy my time when I'm home alone, but as far as to go places alone, no I don't like it at all.

I like going to the movies alone. I do go to the movies with friends and relatives here and there. But I like going more because my preferences differ from those of my friends and I'm serious movie fan who studies certain things about movies.

I do like going to concerts, plays and musicals by myself. I also enjoy shopping alone for some reason.

Absolutely agree with you -- the majority of my friends think it's "so odd" that I like to go to movies by myself. I absolutely prefer it!

I also get up early when we're on vacation so I can sit on the balcony by myself (it really helps me wake up and I get annoyed if someone else from my family wakes up before I'm fully awake - if that makes sense :rotfl:)
