I have tried it and do not like it-I don't like the texture.

I am very tactile with my food (I won't eat any meat/chicken with bone in it)-stuff that is funky feeling in my mouth is off my food list.

I know I am a little (okay LOT) odd about this.

I really don't like raw meat or fish, it disgusts me. And I don't like the sugary taste of the rice neither.:scared1:

Now I'm hungry!

Darn you to heck, the lower level even:lmao:

My daughters and I love sushi but my husband will not touch it. Don't do shrimp anymore due to allergy but will eat pretty much any of the others. Favorites are tuna, salmon, yellow tail, octopus, spicy tuna roll, obispicy salmon roll, tobiko (very small fish eggs), uni and natto.

I tried a California Roll - (which had may in it) and was completely turned off. Maybe if that mayo wasn't there I would have liked it. I liked the wasabi and pickled ginger though :)

Sashimi is thinly sliced raw fish.
Sushi is vinegared rice with various topping which may or may not be raw fish.

I was very open minded about trying it- I don't consider myself a picky eater. Sushi seems all the rage right now, as almost all my co-workers seem to love it. So...I went to lunch with them one day to a sushi place. Supposedly this is the best one around. It started off good- I loved the Edemame (sp?). But the rest was just plain NASTY. The fish, the seaweed, the wasabi, the ginger, the fact that you have to shove the whole darn thing in your mouth so you gag, instead of taking little bites. And then it cost an arm and a leg, too! Never, ever again!!!!!!!

I like cooked rolls the best - Spider rolls are very good. I also like vegetable rolls, like avocado and cucumber. I haven't really had a lot of raw sushi.

Spiders rolls are so good! And at the sushi place I go to they put wasabi mayo on it...yummy!

I also love anything with eel or tuna. And I love tuna sashimi or the nigiri tuna. A lot of the rolls I like are more specific to the sushi place in our area (or at least the names are) but some of the more common ones I like are the philadelphia roll, dragon roll, and spicy tuna roll.

This thread is making me hungry, now I want some sushi! :teeth:

I've never tried it, and I probably never will. Besides the fact that I don't really like anything it's made from (seafood--raw or cooked, seaweed, rice--not a big fan, wasabi, etc.), there's that texture thing that someone else mentioned. Plus, I just plain don't like the looks of it. I can't eat anything that doesn't look good to me. Maybe if I were literally starving to death, but I hope I'm never THAT hungry!

I've never tried it but my DH loves it.

I love sushi! I especially like sashimi which is the raw fish with rice sometimes served on the side. It's important that it be very fresh and of good quality or else it won't be very good. Here on the west coast there are many places to choose from. I would say it's an acquired taste though.

I have to say that I'm very surprised at the number of people who actually like it! :confused3

I'm more confused at the number of people who have never even bothered to try it but say "bleeegh raw fish" even though sushi is not raw fish!! :confused3

I love it. I too enjoyed the sushi at the California Grill. :)

I love sushi! My girlfriend and I have the best time when we go to our favorite Japanese restaurant and try all sorts of new things on the menu.
