Do you know anyone famous?

Oh, and my DH knows a former shuttle astronaut and retired Admiral from his time in the reserves. I met him a few times also and sat next to him at one retirement ceremony. He went up twice I think.

I also met Joe Theisman about 30 years ago at his restaurant that he used to have in Camp Springs, MD. He signed a picture that my DH gave my mom as a joke because she's a diehard Cowboy fan. My whole family is actually.

DH grew up down the street from G.Gordon Liddy and knows and is FB friends with his daughter. What's amazing is when DH went to OCS for the Navy, no one believed him when he said he knew him because they were so far removed from the DC area, they didn't understand that most politicians live in the suburbs and not the city.

I also went to HS and knew Marty Gravel (his dad was the senator from AK at the time, Mike Gravel). Marty was actually in my sister's class, but we used to go to parties at their house when his parents were out of town. They had a nice house with a pool.

I think most people know or have met someone considered famous.

My cousins friend and sister's friend from high school is married to Nick Jonas. Such a sweet guy. They are in town frequently and he is always so nice to all the teeny boppers who chase him down in the food store and ice cream shop lol. My family is close with Laura Sangiacoma and her family (Julia Roberts friend in Pretty Woman). We are also friendly with Furio from Soprano's (Federico Castelluccio) he is an incredible artist as well, which most people don't know.

Nick Jonas isn't married, though..:confused3

Yes, I know some very famous people, but to me, they're just people who happen to be very successful in what they do. I also wouldn't go off bragging or touting I know them because it would be unfair to them. I actually stayed at one couple's estate this past weekend in Boston.

Bradley Cooper is my cousin :)

It was awesome to see him go from nothing to an A list celeb so fast!

I remember when he got his first movie role in Wet, Hot American Summer. We all thought he was big ish then. We had NO idea he'd get as famous as he is today. We hoped and cheered him on of course, but never imagined the magnitude of his celebrity-ism would get this high so fast!

I met a few people when my best friend's father was a producer at a theater in Atlanta-they would not remember me to save their lives. General Colin Powell was directly in front of me when we saw a play with his daughter in it. Tony Robbins worked in the same building as me when I lived in San Diego-I only saw him once. I walked a charity walk with a DJ in Atlanta. I met Ted Kennedy years ago at the Boston airport-he was with his wife. Very nice!

I almost forgot, and I don't know if you'd consider him famous or not, but I know Richard Garriott, the game developer. We don't hang out or anything, but we say hi if our paths cross, and he's pretty cool -- for a rich guy. :lmao:

Sorry to post twice on this thread.

I've met several famous people...Tom Landry and some of the Dallas Cowboys back long ago...think I was in the 4th grade? I won a contest at school and got to go watch training one day and get some autographs.

I've come in close contact with a few too, but did not talk to...

I flew on AA one time with Brooks & Dunn and their band from DFW to LA. Recognized them immediately when I walked through first class! On that same trip I saw Howard Stern & Steve Guttenberg at LAX (not together...)

I was in Nashville one time with my dad as a kid and we were checking out of our hotel and we saw Nascar driver Bill Elliot coming in.

I remember seeing the Pope when I was younger. His Popemobile drove right by where we were sitting.

Thats all I can remember...

OH...WAIT...one more...when I was young and silly I went to a NKOTB concert and found out their MOMS would be at the mall the next day for autographs, so, yes, I made my mother drive me there so I could get their autographs...so I met all 4 moms. What a crazy fan I was (and hundreds of others who were there).

Lucky u! Your cousin in HOT!!!!! I watched him on inside the actors studio and was so heartbroken at the end when they did the "in memory" of his dad....so sad

I went to high school with Dave Haywood and Charles Kelley from Lady Antebellum, as well as Josh Kelley, Charles' older brother. They were a year ahead of me but I remember them very well, I was in chorus with Dave's sister. I actually went to school with Charles and Josh since elementary school I think.

Also, James Brown is known for being from here (Augusta, GA), but he actually lived in the small community where my husband grew up and they used to drive near his house all the time growing up and get run off, lol.

I just realized this thread was asking if I knew a famous person personally. In that case, the answer is no.

I did go to high school with Edie Falco and her brother was in my graduating class. I guess that's as close as I get.

Can we be best friends?!?! Cause your cousin is HOT and I'd like to have his babies. :) call me! :)

Definitely not buddies with anyone famous, but have met a few:

My husband and I used to go to lots of golf tournaments in the 80s. We met and chatted with a lot of pro golfers including Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Payne Stewart, Greg Norman, Chi Chi Rodriquez, Curtis Strange, Fuzzy Zoeller, etc.

Had a nice conversation once with Donny and Marie Osmond at the Flamingo in Vegas. Talked about losing weight (Marie) and where I grew up (Donny). They were very friendly and warm.

Also had a nice conversation a few months ago with Ryan Buell--the young man from A&E's show, 'Paramormal State.'

Also briefly met Jimmy Buffet, Kirk Douglas, Alan Rickman, Alan Shepard

My son knows Steve Buscemi's son, Lucien, and Spike Mendelsohn from 'Top Chef'

I graduated from high school with Daniel Dae Kim (Lost and Hawaii 5-0). I wasn't friends with him...we ran in different circles...

My DS12 used to go to school with a little boy who's father was in Stomp! on Broadway. I used to talk to him all the time at pick up time. He helped out at our arts day at school too. Nice guy...until I found out he was having an affair and left his wife and kids (and from what she said, it was BAD)

Criminals count? I went to school with a kid who (along with others) poisoned their teachers coffee (high school). Ended up doing time.

Remember 3 Army guys who were held captive years ago? I went to elementary school with one of them (Christopher Stone).

Do I know anyone famous? No, but on 2 separate occasions, I've Joe McIntyre and Ed Robertson. I was totally speechless when I met Ed from bnl. But he was an incredibly nice guy. Got in close to take a picture with me:lovestruc

My sister is really good friends with Cameron Diaz's nephew. My sister has "meet" her about twelve times (she was invited to family events & Cameron was there as well). I was lucky enough to meet her once.

I meet "Sunshine" from remember the titans at my dads vending supplier. Apparently his dad was opening a similar business and was taking a look around the ware house. He shook our hand and offered to take pictures but we had no idea who he was at the time until after they left and the owner told us. I still don't know what his name is.

I have had as clients the wife of a famous baseball player and the sister of a famous actor. That is all I can say.
