Do you have neighbors that don't socialize?

My neighbor is too kind, she always gives me free food and talks to me about her childhood days. She even takes good care of my dog whenever I need to run some errand, and in return, I will walk her Labrador Retriever with my Jack Rusell around the neighborhood. Last Christmas, I bought her a colorful scarf and she gave my pooch a new set of dog boots.

I can say that I am pretty lucky to have a good neighbor like her, she kinda reminds me of my grandmother.

We are very friendly with our one neighbor. She is elderly. She watches our house and we watch hers. We used to be friendly with a couple other neighbors, but they’ve moved. All other neighbors we just say hi or wave when we see them.

My neighbors have neighbors who don’t socialize.

We had some neighbors that we talked to, wouldn't really call it socialize. If we saw them outside maybe a wave or stop a talk a little, until they got divorced, then I regretted seeing him outside, would start telling me how bad she was, then on to the new girlfriend, then when she broke up with him, I got cornered one day mowing and had to hear all about that, well sorry, I'm not Dr. Phil and this is not therapy session. He has since moved and don't miss the drama.

Our neighborhood is pretty private. We have ladies' lunches, which I can't attend usually because I work, but otherwise, we keep to ourselves quite a bit. We all have acreage though, we aren't super close in proximity to each other.

As a whole our neighborhood isn't very social. There are those who do socialize with some, some who are just small talk friendly type, the just wave hi's and the ones who avoid everyone. I wish I could just be the wave hi type but there are some neighbors who I can't avoid and have to do the friendly small talk thing with LOL

....I feel like they think we're rude, but DH & I work all week (only one other mom works) and we like spending our family time together as a family when we actually have some free time. I really have no desire to stand around making small talk. They set up 'street activities' for everyone on our block, even though we have 'subdivision activities' for the exact same thing. Anyway, just kindof annoying and felt like venting and seeing if anyone else has a similar situation. Or, if you're like any of my neighbors and wondering if you think I'm rude. :confused3

I am the neighbor that does not socialize!! My partner and I are in the same boat as you, in terms of working all week and not wanting to waste the time we have.

Are main things are we have solar panels and can blast the AC with minimal expense, and have a big comfy sofa, tv, and three cats; so we like to stay inside.

We have it quite easy since we don't have children, so were not forced to socialize by association.

We live on a long street of three bedroom brick houses (those in SE PA know the look); and its primarily families with children, or maybe a couple of generations crammed in together.

We live in a rural area on a road that is 1 1/2 miles long. When we walk 1 mile we pass 5 houses. If they are out, we might wave and say "Hey" (we're in the South) or maybe talk for 30 minutes catching up if it's been a while since we talked. No one seems threatened by talking and no one is rude and hides when someone walks by. But if I really needed anything, all I would have to do is call on them. On my walk yesterday I saw 1 cat, 2 rabbits, 2 donkeys, 3 dogs (besides mine), 6 guineas and a bunch of cows. On our walks before we have seen snakes, a fawn, wild turkeys, skunks, groundhogs, raccoons and a herd of 14 deer.

We live in an adult community in between two schools, and we love not having to deal with neighbors! I'll wave from my car if I see them, but I'm absolutely never going to stop and talk with any of them.

Most of our immediate neighbors are of the "nearly dead" variety and we definitely prefer it that way. No screaming kids, no screaming adults screaming at the screaming kids, no screaming fights between adults screaming at screaming kids. (LOL... and having dual-pane windows and block house construction also helps!)

Absolutely blessed that there are no dogs in the neighborhood. I would be the neighbor relentlessly calling Animal Control on your negligent lazy butt for letting your dog bark endlessly. And really, in a climate where it's above 100° for a large part of the year, it's absolutely animal abuse to leave your pets outside.

When I moved into my neighborhood full-time where my partner has lived for a while, I was absolutely shocked and appalled how much families fight!!! Like nastily every weekend. That NEVER would have been tolerated in my house, PERIOD.

How can anyone live like that fighting incessantly? Even now as windows open-up I can hear it and still can't believe it.
