As a result of BWV purchase, we received a DVC bag.

I was saving it for the right use. After our visit to BCV in Nov when we forgot some of those little comforts of home, I decided to use our special DVC bag to store these items.

Some examples: cooking spices, salt, pepper, individual serving sized jellies, quart sized ziplock bags, saran wrap, parmesian cheese, pasta, coffee filters and microwave popcorn. (I add freshly ground coffee in individual packets just before leaving)

There is a zippered compartment in the bottom of the bag, we put detergent tablets in there.

Everytime I think something else, I just add it in so that I don't forget it. That way the bag is already to go at any given time.

After our most recent visit when we were missing lots of kitchen items and did not find a room inventory checklist, I decided to make a copy of the room inventory check list and put it in a plastic page protector so we will have it with us

Anyone else have a special DVC bag made up? What do you have in your bag?

We have one too! It is a tall shopping bag made of some very durable material and has handles and zips closed. We have all those things you mentioned, plus dryer sheets, air freshener, cooking spray, a roll of paper towels, a ziplock bag full of napkins, a large ziplock bag full of more ziplock bags in all sizes, saran wrap, aluminum foil, dish towels, pot holders, a small note pad, a cooler bag, filtered water bottle, and a large serving platter. When our trip is close I also add a pancake griddle and non-stick frying pan and all the other stuff on my very very comprehensive packing list. We have now done 5 DVC trips since 11/02 and I can honestly say that by the third trip, we had the shopping bag pack list down pat. Heck, for Thanksgiving, I even remembered the turkey baster ! :D On each trip, I kept a "pack next time" list on the island or counter and had everyone add anything to it that they wished they had with them. It adds so much fun to the planning to have everyone involved and looking forward to the next trip.:bounce: :bounce:

I have a Rubbermaid tote. It has the detergent, dryer sheets, salt, pepper, extra coffee packs, Pal Mickey, safety pins, Typhoon Lagoon reusable mug (pay for a new sticker each time we go to TL or BB), and other stuff. It's packed and ready to go in my closet.

We use our DVC tote from BWV for storing all our DVC paperwork on DVC ressies, car and airplane info, guide maps from previous trips, all our old ressie sheets, member guidebook, etc. It sits next to the night stand by our bed always ready for some light reading.

Does a box count? I have this really nice storage box (the prefab kind you put together, with a lid and handles) I use for our DVC trips. Now I have the usual stuff (the spices, laundry tabs, etc.) but through the course of the year the "other" stuff goes in it, too -- namely, every time I see a cute Disney item on sale I buy a few and stick 'em in there. When it's trip time, I look at who all is coming on the trip and sort out the souvenirs accordingly.

For example, right now, I have a few spinning light toys I got for $3 each at a outlet in Fla., some hard candy and small toys bought for about 70% off at a Disney store a few mos ago, some cute kids EPCOT t-shirts (bought at outlet in Fla when I was there on business!), playing cards, coloring books, etc. I then take these with us on our trip. Last time I took gift sacks, let the kids decorate them with stickers, then every a.m. they would find a new "disney goodie" in their bags. It really reduced the "gimmees" in the parks. THe kids were content to wait until near the very end of the trip and buy just a few choice souvenirs then with thier saved $$, instead of hitting up mom and dad every turn in the road! And the kids got LOTS for realtively VERY LITTLE buckage. (Those light thingys alone were over $15 -- they are the kind that spell out words and stufff!) I am also always adding film containers filled with stacks of chagne (2 quarters, one penny, 2 quarters, one penny...) It sure makes the penny presses a LOT easier to handle! This year I am thinking about getting the kids all fanny packs instead of gift sacks.... just something to keep it different! (And then they can carry their OWN penny press chage!)

ALSO -- thanks to a great tip from someone on this board, I also have in my "DVC box" 2 canvas shoe holders (the kind that hook over your door, with about 30 pockets on 'em). With 3 kids of our own (and we always bring guests!) we put one in our b'room, and the other in the 2nd b'room for our guests. These are GREAT for everything from a place for your camera, your spare change, toothbrushes (the kids can reach them!) dh's electric shaver, our cell phones, maps, sunglasses, etc. All that STUFF that just ends up all over your counter top! These fold up nice and flat, and I've decorated mine in a Disney motif, of course! (The canvas ones they sell at Lowe's or home Depot work PERFECT... I also have one in dd's room for all her beanie critters!)

Joepoe...Great idea! Since we always fly and try to make due with as little luggage as possible, this is a great alternative for using our special bag.

Does anyone bring all of this stuff if you fly?

I have several zip lock bags packed with assorted items that I grab and throw in the suitcase. That way I don't have to reinvent the wheel for every trip. I just check the inventory in the bags, add what's needed, and off we go!

gopherit - thanks for the canvas bag idea. I had read on the cruise bd about taking one on the cruise but hadn't thought about taking it for trips to WDW!! Santa brought be a plastic one. I'll try it on the upcoming cruise and see how I like it, but I think it will look more like home at the resorts if DH's stuff is all over the counter!!

Yes, we fly, and as the items are used up, there's room for souvenirs on the way home:earsboy:

Silly thought ...........but if all these things are necessary why do we not ask DVD to ensure that the inventory for the villas includes them.

We got our WAY COOL DVC bag when we made our initial purchase at BCV in Feb 2002. It holds my trip tik, AAA books, maps, toys from Minnie and Mickey to surprise the kids on the long car trip, Cracker Barrel exits:D , the wealth of knowledge that I have copied and pasted from these boards, my Passporter with vouchers, park hoppers, PS numbers, etc-- basically everything that I've organzied for the trip. To answer bluecdr, I would rather bring the stuff I need than have DVC decide that dues need to go up so that they can supply the things that someone MIGHT need in their room. Just MHO!
