Do you have a first day tradition?

wait in the hotel for an hour go then go get some food and then the monorail to vist other resorts

We head straight to the Magic Kingdom, breakfast at the bakery on Main Street, then on to the Carousel. My sonny boy would not have it any other way! A real stickler for tradition. He inherited it all from me!

Our first day is always the same. 6am flight at the resort by noon. Check out the pool with my nephew and any other kids in our group (to get out of unpacking :thumbsup2 ) MK by 2 get the customery picture infront of the castle then dash to Tomorrowland for Buzz, Buzz and more Buzz (and a few trips on the people mover :goodvibes ) Dinner at CP then check out more of the make stay for Wishes head back to the resort for some more swimming then crash

We start driving to WDW around 12:00am to start our trip early and avoid traffic. Once we get there (around 11:00) we are excited and tired all at the same time. If our room is ready, we "move in" and take a nap immediately. If the room is not ready, we eat some lunch and call every 10 minutes hoping that our room is ready. Once it's ready, we nap. When we wake up, we either go to DTD for some eating and shopping or we hit the monorail for some eating and hotel viewing. Either way, we soak up the magic and excitedly anticipate the next few wonderful days ahead!

Our first day at our resort, we swim, unpack, and ride the boat over to Chef Mickey's for dinner. The characters are a great first night experience! Then, we go for a quick monorail ride and head back to the resort for a good nights sleep.

First day at the parks (always MK), is Pirates of the Caribbean!

We always head to MK and ride POTC first.....really puts us in the Disney spirit! :wizard:

On the day that we arrive, for the last few years, we make it a point to go to DTD and try to buy as many as our souvys and gifts as we can adn then we will go to a new place that we haven't been to before for dinner. We hit the parks on the next day.

I like that idea! Both times we have been blessed to go to WDW I left the souvy buying until the last minute, thinking I would save money that way. Boy did I, because I always went home without something that I had wanted  ! This time we plan on first doing the usual and going to MK first, and having a late breakfast at CP :goodvibes . That is a must from now on, as we did it last time and it was perfect! Then I think when mid afternoon rolls round we will head to DTD for some shopping and a first time ever dinner at either Wolfgangs or Raglan Rd. With a bit of shopping to take back to our resort when the day is over :thumbsup2.

Our first day is always the same since we drive 15 hours straight to Disney. We check in to our resort or FW Campground and then resort hop. If staying at FW we go to the Trading Post to do a little shopping and soaking up the atmosphere then take the boat over to the Contemporary and hop on the monorail to the Poly and GF. Soaking up the atmosphere of each resort and do a bit of shopping. Go back to FW to watch the electrical water pageant and watch the fireworks over MK.

We usually arrive in the late afternoon. After unpacking we head out to HDDR for dinner. We love it!

We always head over to the MK on our first day. There is nothing more special for us then that first walk down main st and seeing the castle in the distance. :)

I posted this before on another thread like this...

In the past, we've always had flights that got his in to WDW very late at night, and all we had time to do that night was check in and fall into bed. This year, I planned the flights a little better, so we'll be checking in around 4:00pm. DH had suggested that we pop over to the parks that night for a few rides and dinner. I'm pretty firm that I'd like to check in, walk around the resort (AKL) and see the animals, take a quick dip in the pool and then have dinner at Boma.
:thumbsup2
For me, there's something magical about heading out bright and early our first day and walking "right down the middle of Main Street, U.S.A." Even though it's not our favorite park, we always start and end with Magic Kingdom. Something about seeing the Castle in front of me, and riding the rides that we all remember from our childhood puts us in the right frame of mind for a magical Disney vacation.

This year, my DS13 suggested that we spend the first four days visiting the parks in the order that they were opened. The later days we'll hop around more and visit water parks and DTD/DQ. Our last night is always spent watching the fireworks at MK. Last visit, as we left the park, Mickey appeared on top of the railroad station and said "Huh, huh...See ya real soon!" A magical end to our trip!
