Do you get in "Disney Shape"??

... we all do our best to trim down or beef up to look presentable in our bathing suits. We call working out and excercising 3 months prior to check in getting in "Disney Shape".
..

I've never worked out and exercised just to look good in a bathing suit. I have worked out to improve cardio/muscle tone and to improve stamina for my general wellbeing but not for vanity's sake. Extra time on the exercise bike or walking was always a plus before all of those miles trudged at WDW. Even though I now have to experience the parks in a wheelchair and endurance is not as much a factor at WDW, any exercise I do is for the physical benefits, not for how I might look to others.

I've been doing weight watchers and Zumba since I began planning our trip 7 weeks ago. I've lost 17 pounds and several inches. I still have 20 to go, but I have until September.

I was at the largest I had ever been, and refused to look like that in all of our pictures from my son's first trip to WDW!

Yes.. Sadly I tone up to look good at WDW, wear a bathing suit, tank tops and sundresses.. Then when I return I have to watch what I eat from the weight I gained at WDW! LOL

Oh yeah, I'm all about cardio kickboxing! I'm still losing some baby weight from DS10 months. Actually...I'm the same weight I was before I got pregnant but I still haven't found my abs haha, the leftover fluff must have eaten them?!

Round is a shape, too, you know. However, this year I've started walking and I feel better than I have in a long time. By the time I hit WDW in Nov. I think my shape will be less round - maybe more oval.

If you find your abs let me know how you did it. My youngest is almost 8. My weight is the same pre-pregancy. I run 7 miles a day, and I still can't lose that little mid-section pooch.

My youngest is 15. I'll never be back to prepregnancy weight (and don't want to! 98lbs is way too skinny!), but I would sure love to find my abs again. I'm in the military and do situps like mad, but still can't locate them.

I've been a workout nut my whole life I actually used the fitness center 6 times on our 14 night stay at CSR this past December...lol. I do pig out while we're there though, it is a vacation after all!!

We are a pretty active family but we get into shape by doing more walking and making sure we have at least 2 pair of very comfortable athletic shoes (not brand new) for our trip so we don't have to worry about hot spots/blisters. Also a good idea to change socks mid-day if not coming back to the resort.

I work on staying in shape all year round, not for a single Disney trip but to make sure I'll be able to enjoy Disney World trips for many years to come with my children and grandchildren. I want the grandchildren to complain about being tired because THEY can't keep up with ME!

I just lost 45 pounds (too many deluxe dining plans!) using a program called Take Shape for Life. If you want more information, send me a PM. That was an important step to getting healthy. It was my many wipeouts surfing (attempting to surf) at Typhoon Lagoon that made me want to lose weight and get more fit.

But, I'll say that ALL the eating at Disney World was worked off by all the walking and some morning jogs before everyone else woke up. It can be a lot of walking and getting into shape is important for me. I want to be able to enjoy vacations like Disney World and outdoor vacations that require me to be fit well into my older years.

Will do!!! :goodvibes

Its funny (kind of) after I had DS3, it took me like 8 months to get back to pre pregnancy weight and my abs were great but I wasn't really happy with my big 'ole soccer player thighs. Now I think my thighs are about as toned as they've ever been but my abs are in hiding. I don't know how I can weigh the same as before but still have some baby pooch leftovers. Not that I want to be a twig or anything because I like having some curves but my goodness, can I at least have some tone to my stomach?!?! :confused3 :rotfl:

At any rate, as soon as this stupid snow goes away (it was 80 on Friday, now its snowing...thanks NY), we're going to start our nightly Disney stamina walks . We usually walk every night, weather permitting, anyway but when we're ramping up for WDW we try to go even longer.

I went to disney in 2008 with my family. I had every intention of losing weight right AFTER the trip, because I knew I was not going to eat healthy, too many yummy foods to have in disney. I did, and now when I see the pictures of me 40 lbs heavier when I was on that trip, I cannot be happier that I dropped the weight! I plan on losing another 20-30 lbs in the next year, but the reality is that weight comes off with diet and exercise, plain and simple. I wish there was an easier answer, because when I was plus size, I did neither. And now that I eat healthier and exercise 4 times a week, I can't imagine not doing it (for the chubby girl in me, I allow myself fast food twice a month haha:rotfl:, but the bad food ends there! It's not easy, because I LOVE the worst foods) For an event (like a wedding) I do a cleanse the week before with Kombucha, but for disney, I replace my Jillian Michaels cardio dvd's with running on the treadmill, to prepare my feet for lots of walking. I don't eat bread, except very occasionally, include fruit and veggies often, and I am in disney shape every day!

I usually start going on walks about a month before my trips, but for my December trip, I started at the end of September and wound up with an inflamed IT band by November. :headache: Not my best idea! It still gives me trouble, but after months of physical therapy, it's much better, so last week I started walking again.

Obviously, I'd like to look good in pictures (who doesn't!) but my bigger concern is building up my stamina, especially in my hip, where my IT band is the most inflamed. Oddly enough, walking, which caused my problem in the first place, has helped relieve some of the pain! Strange how that works...
