I am finally going on my first solo trip. I booked one a few years ago then lost my nerve. This time I am just gonna go ahead and try it. I am trying to decide on a hotel. I was leaning toward assports preferred room or French Quarter. I have stayed at both and loved both. I am just a little concerned about coming back late at night to a resort without interior hallways. Do you feel safe doing a solo trip at the values or moderates? :confused3

I have always felt safe no matter where I travel. While solo at Disney in a value or mod, I would suggest asking for a room that is not on the first floor. Just keep in mind that there are ALWAYS people out and about at Disney at all times so you are never truly alone. Enjoy.

I stay @ the French Quarter...I feel totally safe there. The grounds are well lit...and I always came back on a full bus...so when we were dropped off late at night there was a full bus load of people walking around back to their rooms. In addition to that...even at night I don't think once did I walk to my room where I did not encounter employees either walking around from building to building...or in the golf carts. There was always someone within loud speaking voice distance...so mosdef within yelling distance. The last time I stayed...I was on the backside of one of the further away buildings (2nd floor)...and not once felt uncomfortable walking to and from my room...and that's with one night that I got back @ 1:00 am.

Thanks for the input I feel much better. I think I might just go with French Quarter since it is quieter than the all stars. I guess I am just a little bit nervous about my first solo trip. I am sure it will be great. Thanks again. :)

I'll agree with all the previous posts. I did my first solo back in Dec 2008. It never even occurred to me to worry about safety. I've always felt safe at WDW. Of course, I'm sure part of it is due to having that "cut off from the world" feeling you get when stay on-site.
When are you going? I'm almost to the point of making a ressie for first week in May at POFQ. I haven't been there for the Flower & Garden in about five years.

i'm heading down for my 3rd solo trip in 12 days (:cool1:) and it never really crossed my mind.. when I was 18 my best friend and I went to disney and on the cruise as a graduation gift from our parents and beside them not wanting us to get off the boat on the cruise they never had any concerns about us going

as long as you keep your wits about you I wouldn't worry... when ever I travel I call my mom to let her know i arrive safely and then again half way thru the trip mostly to check up on my dog

I generally do ask to stay on the first floor because I have issues with walking and stamina and what not i just always use the door latch and i generally bring in a binder clip to clip the curtains closed (im a light sleeper and if light seeps in it annoys me)

Well, I went ahead and booked the trip. I ended up going with Pop. I decided I would rather save the money. Also, I am going to be staying at POFQ in may with my mom so I thought trying something new might be fun. I have never stayed there before but I have heard really great things. I am going April 9-12. I decided for my first trip I would try a long weekend and see how it goes. I am sure I will probably get hooked on solo trips after this.:)

Yes, I feel perfectly safe. I remember one night, not feeling safe, but only momentarily. I'd checked in around 1:00 am, and for some reason, I declined bell services offer to escort me to my room. There I was walking all alone when I suddenly heard some whispering noises around the next corner. Suddenly they appeared-two women clad in evening gowns and Mickey ears! I had to stifle a laugh at myself!
The only caveat is that I refuse to have a first floor room-the front desk has always been very nice about changing me when they've assigned me one, but I explain I'm solo and that would make me uncomfortable. I've always found Disney very nice and accomodating to solos.

Pop is a fun place to stay... you will have absolutely no problem with security walking to your hotel room. I am a female and never feel scared walking alone around my resort or from the bus or anywhere while on Disney property. There are usually people with families or Disney staff around - even SUPER late at night... sometimes I am surprised to see little kids out and about during the wee hours of the night!!!!

Have to agree with everyone about feeling safe while solo at WDW. About 70% of my visits to WDW have been solo!

Also agree about requesting a room on an upper floor--I usually request top floor at Pop Century. That tends to be my only requirement--although sometimes it's third floor, rather than 4th. Occasionally I will add a second request for a specific area of the resort, which isn't going to make or break my stay. :)

I tend to close the parks--have returned to my room solo at 3:00 a.m. a number of times. Between being a natural night owl and the time change from west to east, I'm not even functional at rope drop until the last few days of a 10-night visit! *LOL*

You'll see Security driving around the resort frequently, and sometimes a cast member will see you and ask if you would like an escort. I haven't felt the need for one to date. Just be aware of your surroundings, as you would anywhere else, and you'll be fine!

Have a wonderful solo trip! :D

I think WDW and DL are about the safest places you can be solo. When you are going back to your room late at night, generally everyone else is too!

:) My Mil travels with us most times to Disney and of course has her own room. She loves having days to herself to walk about. She says she feels "perfectly safe" since it is a somewhat closed environment. She is a very spry 68 year old.

I was solo last weekend at All-Star Movies. I never felt unsafe. I arrived at 2:30am and had to walk to the ducks building myself, but there were lights so it felt fine. I just made sure my door was locked and latched whenever I was inside.

I stayed at Pop on my solo trip. I checked in late at night and had a fair walk to my room, which was top floor looking over the lake and got to see the EPCOT firworks from my window every night (magical!!!) I felt safe the whole time, it is well lit and there seemed to be people walking around ground level and staff in golf carts most of the time.

Since you are staying at Pop you might want to consider getting a room that does not face the pools or the football field. Believe me the noise level can be a little loud especially if you like to sleep in or go to bed early.

Or i you are a late bloomer take a lake view room... .awesome.

I had felt apprehensive at Riverside when walking from the bus stop through the woods to my room. Solution (figured out after I got back home) Get off the bus at the main building stop.
