Do you feel like a traitor going to Universal?

Metro west i love the picture at the end of your post. Dueling Dragons is one of my DS and my favorite coasters. As for feeling like a traitor NOT IN THE LEAST. I feel it is 2 different experiences. I love US IOA and I love Disney (actually DS and I love Disney a little bit more). Last year we did US after disney and we missed Disney enough to extend our trip and go back for one last day. This year its US first!!

Thanks John. I took that picture a couple of weeks ago. I rode Fire four times today and Ice twice. I like Fire better. BTW..I used to live in Charlottesville! :)

Thats cool Metro I wished I lived that close. Did you ever get to Kings Dominion when you lived in Charlottesville? I was there yesterday and rode most of the coasters. I just LOVE the Volcano, Flight of Fear and The Anaconda. (sorry didnt mean to hijack this thread)

Check your PM's.

I am always surprised when people think that Universal is all thrill rides. If you have never been, you are really missing something. (I do agree it is less for small children than MK.) The special effects in the rides are much better than Disney. (Watching a Twister form that looks so real that those of us from tornado country turn pale.) ET is so cute and walking in the woods up to the ride is as good as the ride. IOA park is worth the visit just to look around. Dr. Suess land is sooooooo cute and has lots of nice places to take pictures that make you look like you are in a cartoon. I am not a thrill rider anymore but I ehjoyed IOA just looking at the Sets and still found pleanty to do. I even took a few rides in Suess land while hubby (50) was riding the dragon coaster. ( I did ride the Mummy- WOW!- what a trip!!!)

I like Disney's cue lines better than US or IOA and the fireworks and parades are much better too. The best part of Disney to me is the feeling of being a part of Walt's Dream, the nostalgia of our childhood and sharing that with our own kids and most of all the CM's. Disney's CM's are fantastic!!!!!!

It's all good. :Pinkbounc

People tell me all the time to go to Universal and I just can't. I do feel like a trader!! I am a disney fan 110 o/o :earsgirl: :earsboy: ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo :jumping1: :disrocks: :mickeybar

We always stay at Disney, but go to Universal as well. Not every time, but we always go during our longer trip in AUgust. We do both Universal parks at that time.

I'm with Tarzan on this (maybe its a south west thing!) I'm going for the third time this year and still haven't made it ti universal yet, partly because Disney has everything we like and more than enough to keep us happy for 2 weeks and maybe because I'm always under the impression that universal is more about the big thrill rides which we don't do. maybe I'm wrong about that, we will get there one day so I'll find out then.

yes you are soooooo wrong :goodvibes

USF is different,, it offers stuff that disney doesn't. yes, it has thrill rides over in Islands of adventure,<they also have dr. suess playground there>. but the universal side is really a great place to visit. we don't travel with youngin's (well ,we did one year with our grandson) but there is barney for those who like him, fievels playground, ET , Shrek, jimmy newtron, there is an animal show also. younger kids probably would NOT like the other rides, which can be scary, such as Jaws, Terminator, twister, etc. but if you have teenagers or go as adults, it REALLY IS worth a trip . I absolutely love Men-in-black ! (halloween is really fun!)

go with an open mind, & try it once! spend some time on the USF board & learn about the parks.

at least with fire,, you can go through the 'babyswap' door to get back right on the ride (when it isn't crowded) instead of rewalking all the way around.. they won't let you get back on with ICE,, since they use that door for fastpass riders.

Actually, they have a re-ride door they open when it's not busy. It was open yesterday and you can walk right past the Express entrance and into the castle w/o going outside.

Planning on trying US and IOA for the first time next year. Have been to WDW 10 times since 1998 and have yet to make it over there.

I'm actually amazed that people DON'T do Universal!!!! Especailly the person who said they wouldn't do it because of the advert! WTH?!!! :confused3

Try it for goodness sake - you're missing something GREAT! :flower:

I don't look at it as missing something great. I'm enjoying something GREAT at Disney with my family. When they ask to go to Universal, we'll consider it but until then we are a Disney only family. :earboy2:

I believe that you should have a wonderful time where ever you go!

both coasters are better at the back than at the front. far more G-force, but the front should be done as well just for the view.

We love Universal, for different reasons. The parks are newer, and we enjoy the theming there as well.

Both Disney and Universal have something special to offer. It depends on your personal tastes and the ages and interests involved what will make you the happiest.

We went to Universal and Sea World for a break in February, and we have a big Disney vacation planned in August. We are looking at the two trips quite differently, trying to have realistic expectations for each.

I don't feel like a traitor when I visit one or the other. Both are eager to accept our hard-earned money, and I feel free to spend it wherever I wish.

I'm not a theme park fan, I'm a Disney fan. I doubt that I will ever go to Universal :earsboy:
