Do you ever misspell?

A bright woman applied for a job, a particular job where extra fine details were going to be VERY important. This was a job where even the smallest mistakes could be costly to the company.
She often bragged about her goal of perfection. Often and with great glee she pointed out the smallest mistakes her co-workers made.

She was horrified when someone reviewing her resume at this company called her to let her know that in her resume, she claimed that she was "detial oriented".

True story.

p.s. She did NOT get the job.

MSKanga, Keep on posting and pay no mind to those with small ones.

:D

I don't worry about others' spelling.
And...I love the typos!

One of my favorites is when people leave the "r" off the word your.

example (just making this up):
Don't forget to bring you tickets to the park.

hehe...I know I'm weird, but that is so cute to me.:)

*edited* to add...I hope everyone knows I'm not making fun of anyone...I really think the typos are fun.:D
Heck, sometimes I leave the "r" off on purpose just because I think it's so cute.:D :D :D

Yes I misspell, mistype and then some! Doesn't bother me....my new motto works wonderfully

Out of SIGHT, out of MIND!

Oh and bravo to Deb!!

Actually, I wanted my DIS name to be ODDKICKER....I've been too embarrased to admit that until now.....;)

No worries, Kanga.....it's just internet stuff. :)

I make them all the time. Sometimes they aren't even mistakes!:o I couldn't care less what people think of my spelling skills. If that is what matters to them, their not for me.

Oh and Saffron, if you read this :p to you for calling me on my last typo!:teeth:

And one more thing. I don't think I would ever misspell Nazi Natzi after visiting the DIS!;)

Always consider the sores I mean source but in this case "sores" will work. :p

I agree with Deb in IA.
Browneyes - If I tried to finish that poem I would've had a headache. :p

Oldkicker, hehe, that's pretty funny, don't worry I wont tell anyone. :p

I don't know why but I can never remember how to spell definitely and I only got it right this time because I looked it up first ;)

cinmell, I used to have a problem with "definitely", too. A guy on an eBay message board kind of blew up about it, and he pointed out that the root word there is "finite". I've never forgotten that incident. ;)

Life is full of mistakes.

It's the internet. Would you really expect anything different?

I think everyone misspells and mistypes! There are even misspelled words and typos in our local papers all the time. Recently, there was an article in our local paper about a hockey game. In the article one of the players was quoted as saying something like (and I may not have the exact wording).........
The first s**t was the hardest, after that things seemed to come easier.

The word, of course, was intended to be "shot", but it turned out to be something very different. The article was much more amusing read in the context of the typo.

So, Mskanga, if even the newspapers can make mistakes, I think we're allowed, too.

Ah Olga, I am a terrible speller and I only know 1 1/2 languages...I can barely get by with Spanish.

With me its a matter of rushing, I am flying around posting in a hurry and not paying attention I suppose. I would not be overly concerned with anyone being critical regarding spelling or any other issue. It seems we all need to put on our body armor for some reason occasionally. People that know me, I mean really know me and have met me face to face tend to have different opinions then folks I have never encountered. Meeting someone puts a whole different light on a situation then just posting on an internet board, I am sure you know all this :) Pick and choose the things worth being upset about....Just some advice from a friend.

Olga, I wish I was conversant with as many languages as you are.

I misspell words, I make typos. I may not be any good at all at communicating with others but I try my best. I should get some credit for trying, don't you think?

Don't worry about what other people think or say about you you give them way to much power when you do that.

Now give us a smile and forget all about this :)

Well I four won think its awful that u cant spel! I meen how dare u! Im perfect in evry way!

What goes around comes around. Give them a few days and they will be back to spatting with each other.
;)

Actually, I'm one of those picky people. I know that everyone misspells and mistypes on occasion but sometimes if you just take a minute to reread what you typed, it can really help catch those errors. Some posts can be really diffcult to figure out if you don't use capitals and punctuation or what you're trying to say can be read the wrong way if you use the wrong word. Spellcheck is not always perfect either.

It also depends a lot of what and who you are typing for. If you are trying to make a point about something, spelling should be important. If you are going to present a polished piece of writing and ask others for their opinions, take the time to correct it. I know a lot of people on the internet like to write in shortcuts but I have to tell you, it really drives me insane.

A lot of errors are things that my kids are learning about in school.
Things like your and you're, to and too, its and it's. I realize that if you are from a different country it's going to be harder for you. But then I see my son typing on IM to his friends and I have to bite my tongue. I can't help myself sometimes - I like to edit and I hate to see mistakes.

But I'll make a promise - if you don't laugh at my math skills, I won't laugh at your English skills.

*** Yikes, it is so easy to miss a word! LOL!

Karel -- not to be picky, but you might want to edit your last sentence. :teeth: LOL! :p ;)

I'm just joking with you. :)

I spell pretty well for the most part. My typos drive me crazy. Other peoples typos don't. Although I might say something if the typo is funny. :)
