Do you ever have enough points?? LOL

I guess we are the exception. We purchased 300 pts 10 years ago and have gotten all the distance out of them we could possibly want. We have taken family 6 times, we have done a cruise, and we have gone about 1.5 times a year.

I am in your boat...we bought 300 last year and have no desire to buy more for a long long time....

We live 2.5hrs from disney so we now do not need to do week long trips and we borrow when we need....

I won't even consider adding on till we have kids and they are at least in elementary school and would prefer more space...but then again who knows what we will do.

We are currently in the process of adding on a second time, so we will have a total of 500 points. DH asked me yesterday if I thought that was enough, and I answered "for now"! But looking around this thread, I'm under the average!! I'll have to share that information with him:rotfl2:!

I was thinking the same thing!:lmao:

We are brand new (as in received our signing papers today), we got 160pts at BLT. When I told my husband about addonitis he looked at me like I was nuts. We're looking forward to getting a 1 bedroom since my DS12 and DD7 are getting too old to sleep in one bed without fighting...and eww who wants to sleep with their sister/brother...LOL I haven't even made my first pmt and I'm dreaming of more points. My daughter will be competing in gymnastics for the next 4 years down there so I'm going to be borrowing and juggling for a couple of years until my hubby sees how wonderful it is and gives me his blessing to buy more...gotta take it slow...I'm hoping in 2 years! LOL:wizard:

Welcome Home!!!

How are you having a 1 bedroom and not having the kids sleep in the same bed? Just curious because I thought we might need to go up to a 2 bedroom soon so that my DS won't have to sleep with his sister when she is old enough to sleep in a bed. They are 6 years apart and I am sure he is not going to want to sleep in the same bed as his "baby" sister.

At BLT they have the couch that is made into a sleeper and the chair that is made into a twin sleeper as well..and they'll have their own TV. I think that will work for a little while until we bump up to 2 bedroom.

Oh, Ok! I did not know that. Very good to know!

Learn something new everyday.....

DH and I joined in Feb. 2009 with 160 pts at AKV. We added another 100 AKV pts in May 2009 and 100 pts at VGC in June 2010. I know that this 360 will not be enough. We don't have any children yet so we've been enjoying the trips with friends and family so far. Oh the joy's of adding on :cool1:

We originally bought 150 pts. at OKW in 2000 and then a few years later added 150 more via resale. Then last fall we bought 150 pts. resale at BWVs and I really would like to add 50 more pts. there but right now we are satisfied with what we have. Always in the borrowing mode but we usually take family with us so larger accommodations and when it's just DH & me, we like a 1br.

I guess if we had family that could go with us more often I could see buying more but most of our family have to save for several years to go even with free-to-them lodging.

Just when I think we may need more points, I get my Annual Dues bill in January and I think "we are just fine where we are!" 600 points is good for one GV trip with kids and grandkids every other year and several trips for hubby and me in the other year.:cool1:

Since I originally bought into AKV in 2008, I have added on FIVE times! Just this morning, I was reviewing how I will vacation through 2012 and I already see how I will need to borrow that year. :scared1:

Another killer for me is the airfare! I would buy more points, but I have to fly there to use them. I'm praying that fares don't skyrocket in the near future, or I may wind up renting my points out.

I'm going to have to ignore my desire to add on any more, though, because I need a new car and that takes priority.

I think we have enough, and they are at DW and my fav resorts. In fact, I was considering selling the SSR contract (165) and getting two 50 point contracts for the other two resorts to bring them to 150 each. Optimal for me would be to have 200 points at BLT and 150 at GCV.

I just sealed my deal with DVC and bought into AKV for 200 points. I am thinking I need more for what I want to do. I like going places and I can see myself wanting to venture out in the future so the thought of doing Adventures by Disney would be great. I am also a solo traveller. I want to do Disney Cruises as well not just in the Bahamas but Alaska and the Mediteranean. So I looked at it and me thinking I want to do all that stuff I need about 200 more points will do. I will have to borrow at that level for some things but I won't have to borrow much. So right now I am content with my 200 points but after I pay down the loan for these I will get 200 more somewhere. I will probably think SSR or BLT if they are available and the MF aren't too high. Something a little less than the MF for AKV as they are high enough for me.:yay:

You are not alone!

We started off with 175 points @ SSR in a studio for 10 nights in summer, with 1 child.

God then blessed us with our baby boy (who just turned 3 @ WDW!), and we added-on 125 points @ AKV for combination of studios/1 bed for 10-13 nights in summer.

Point re-allocations hit us hard, so we added on 60 points in December, and it's still not enough.

Just returned from 3 days @ Vero yesterday, and DH now wants to do a small add-on so we can go every other summer to Vero in a 1 bed for 3 nights.

I said we were stopping @ 300 points, and then we added on 60 more and are now @ 360. DH know wants to add on 50 more, so we'll be at 410. But, we are done with studios, so we would need these points to go to Vero. Plus this year's re-allocation hit us again - our vacations cost us approx. 33 points more due to both re-allocations, so I'm very peeved at Disney, and don't want to add-on, but DH and kids fell in love with Vero...

I am very cautious because of dues - CDN exchange has been great to us the past few years, but if dollar was to go down again (like to 60 cents), then our yearly dues will be very high. Our only expense is our home, and private school tuition, but DD has switched schools, so only 1 tuition now. Cars are paid off, and we have no other debt, so we can afford an add-on, but I am very aware of the $40,000 we have already given Disney, not counting our yearly dues over the past 6 years of ownership.

this is good to hear. we are in the process of buying 300 points. :yay:

Nope - never enough.
We are just a little shy of 1000 and figure we need about 200 more points in 2 years. :rotfl:By then I am sure we will decide we need more!:rotfl:

My parents bought 170 points at SSR in 2005. I bought 200 points at AKV in 2008. We have had to borrow points every year. This is the first year that we've ever had to bank anything. I had to bank my parents points for them - but it was only about 14 points. So the answer is "no", we never feel like we have enough. :D
