Do you ever feel SNUBBED on certain boards?

Once in a while. I've accidentaly stumbled into threads that were really inside jokes between the OP and one or two friends. I've posted thinking it was a regular thread and then I feel kind of foolish afterwards. I haven't done that in a while (at least I don't think so :D ) since I have come to recoginze those threads now.

Sometimes I feel I've asked an interesting question and I wonder why I don't get many responses. I don't take it personally though, I figure its because maybe it wasn't that interesting after all. :teeth: Either that, or the fact that the boards move so quickly, maybe it was missed.

Totally off topic, but WDWHound, I just now noticed your tag. How is your wife doing? I remember we met at WDW a couple of years ago. Hope all is well with her, miss seeing her on the boards.

I used to feel like I got tons of answers on the Theme Park planning boards but lately it seems pretty lame over there. I wonder if the DIS hasn't just "specialized" a little too much.

Yes I have felt that way on here before and a couple of times in chat. But there are also many ppl on here who I enjoy reading their posts and poting witht them. I just ignore the ones that arent that friendly.

I think my questions and comments have been answered on the other boards. If I've been snubbed, I haven't noticed it.

Yep, happens to me all the time here on the CB. I could post that I was having a heart attack and noone would reply to my post -LOL. It doesnt really bother me, I just read more than I post now.

Wow, can I ever relate to this! I'm getting better at recognizing them too but sometimes I still accidently post to those threads. I almost did just a few minutes ago in fact.

I have felt snubbed from time to time but only on the CB. I think that the CB tends to be more cliquish than the other boards so it seems to happen more over here. I used to worry but the friendly people who do pay attention more than make up for those who don't IMO.

PG,
I hope you aren't referring to Beauty's nice thread since we are going back & forth there an awful lot tonight. I just jump in and welcome myself and if I'm truly ignored I them bow out. :( I love to banter back & forth with Michelle. She knows I like to kid her... I would hate to think someone thought they weren't welcome to have some fun with whoever I'm picking on...

No Buckalew, I read threads far back since I can only get here at night most of the time. Besides, I see nothing wrong with playful threads between friends. Of course, some threads end up being not so playful but that's another subject.

Phew! Glad it wasn't that one. :)

I've never felt snubbed on the DIS but on another forum my very first post of me saying hello and introducing myself was deleted because and I'm quoting a mod here "It annoys the other members." So now I just go where I know I don't annoy people.

I sure as heck don't feel snubbed on this thread...Thanks guys.

And by the way, I did get posts to the one I was thinking of but it just took a long time.

I guess if you have gotten a PM from Dan or a funny jab from Eros and you know what browneyes, jason, snoopy and others are having for dinner...You are accepted so thanks again...

I feel soooo loved here tonight;)

While I think over-all the DIS, and especially the CB, is a friendly place, I know at times people do feel ignored, snubbed, left out of the loop; and it can be frustrating and even hurtful. . .

I don't do it near enough, but I do try and make a point of saying something if a thread or poster seems to be getting passed over for whatever reason when I see it. Others do a lot better job of that then I do, and I would encourage everyone to be aware it happens (usually unintentionally) and try and make sure everyone feels valued and welcome here. . . :)

No place is perfect; but every place can be made better.. . :)

WillyJ,
That was a very nice post and something I try to do. If I notice a thread doesn't have a responding post, I try to answer back - but sometimes I flat out don't know the answer. (I will often times admit that, tho!) I know what it's like to have a thread just out there floating.....

If I have a thread or a post that is an inside joke with a friend, I have NO problem with others chiming in on the thread. I don't think he/she is foolish when he/she posts and I like the participation of others having fun around me and with me. I don't believe I've intentionally posted something as an inside joke that is offensive to my friends (what kind of friend would that be?) and he/she knows I'm only teasing them. I like to make my friends smile.:) So if I have a post/thread that seems like an inside joke, chances are I'm only inviting everyone in to have some fun and to make more friends. I save the personal ribbing for pm's.;)

PG, I hope I've never made you feel snubbed. If so, I didn't mean to.:(

BTW, Sam, I had a BLT chicken salad from Wendy's last night.;) With a cherry sprite from Sonic.:teeth:

Snubbed and/or "jumped on." I had the audacity to express a negative opinion about a special event I attended at the MK on the Collector's Board. I knew I would get flamed, but thought it was important to say what had happened. I wasn't whining. I love Disney as much as the next guy (see signature).

I was told that I "shouldn't have gone to the event." I was questioned on why I bothered to attend the event. I was told that you only get out of something what you put into it. I was even seriously chastised for mentioning that we also attended Universal. "Isn't this a DISNEY board?" How dare you... blah blah blah.

I was even told that I should take the Nightmare Before Christmas graphic out of my signature. Jeesh....

Simply ridiculous.

I know I've killed a few threads in my day, and I read tons of threads but don't respond to all of them unless I feel I have something worthwhile to say - for fear of looking stupid I guess. There are a few (very few) "inside joke" threads that I am a regular poster on... and at least the ones that I am a part of welcome anyone who posts there. Just as in a community in the RL, there are groups or cliques or whatever you want to call them. But to me, that's the beauty of being a community. I've seen family squabbles, major huffs, slight tiffs, play-fighting, and just plain meanness. I ignore and move on... hoping that the issues are resolved via PMs. I guess more than anything, I don't want to step on anyone's toes (since reading words can make statements a lot more stark or harsh than they were intended) so I try to refrain from critical comments or disagreements.
I love the DIS, and I have felt ignored at times (not being part of the "in-crowd") but I brush it off and move on. Nobody has done anything to me that has made me feel like less of a person or like I didn't belong. I see it (the CB mostly) as one big happy family with the usual array of wacky cousins, strange neighbors, bratty sisters, bully brothers, and cheap great-aunts.:p :p
And somehow, knowing what browneyes had for lunch or dinner, always seems to complete my day!:p :p :p :p :p
