Hi - do you ever eat dinner in Cabanas? How is it? Do you just eat there if you don't feel like doing the MDR?

Thanks!

I ate there one night for dinner with two of my kids. My husband and son were not feeling well, and we didn't feel like having a long dinner in the MDR without them.

I thought it was fine, same food you find in the MDR.

I was going to one night, but I swear they took the things I would not eat from the MDRs and combined them on one menu. So I left and just did the MDR.

We eat at Cabana's on formal night. We have done formal night dining before, (got the pictures) but prefer not to bring all the fancy clothes for 5 people for one evening. We enjoyed it, just a little less fancy.

We only eat there for breakfast and lunch. Have always eaten in the MDR for dinner, except for 1 time when I had seasickness and ordered room service.

We have and enjoyed it. They take items off all the MDRs for their menu. I was glad we had the option for more than the counter service. We chose Cabanas either because our regular time was inconvenient or we wanted a break from socializing. The atmosphere is relaxed and much quieter than the MDR.

We did it on our recent Alaskian cruise on I think it was the frozen menu night. I didn't like the menu and thought that it might have different items avaliable. It didn't so we got room service as it was to cold to eat out on the deck.

We routinely eat dinner at Cabanas on the middle nights of each cruise we take! Very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere as compared to the rotation restaurants.
As always, the servers work very hard to please there as well.

We did the Cabanas once during our 25th anniversary cruise.
It was the actual night of the anniversary, we could not get a Palo reservation for that night, and we preferred to be eat just the two of us instead of at the table for 8 we were assigned in the MDR. No big deal for the wait staff when the saw us the next evening.

We did it on our last cruise - he first one where we really did not like our table mates - we are a gay couple in our mid 40s on our 9th Disney cruise and they paired us up with two 18 year old guys who were on their first cruise ever and thought it was going to be a booze cruise. They were actually very nice but very not compatible. We went to Cabanas one night and had an ocean view table for two with amazing service and the menu was a nice collection of the various dinner menus. We are now thinking of taking a break one night each cruise and doing Cabanas!

We did on Pirate Night as we do not care for the MDR menu that night. It ended up being the same menu, just more limited. Next time we will order room service.

We dined there 3 times on our last cruise. Gave a break from the table of 8 we didn't have much in common with, we preferred the service and pace and the more relaxed feel. Will definately be doing dinner their more on future cruises

We had the same experience as other cruisers in that the menu was a limited selection of the MDR, the upside is you can eat when you want the downside the waiters do not know your preferences and likes like the ones in the MDR. We ate there for dinner once on our first cruise and didn’t bother the second.

On our 12 night Med cruise in 2014, we went twice. The first night we went they offered a dinner buffet, and this surprised us. I believe that they offered buffet twice during that longer cruise. The second time we went it was as previous posters described--items culled from the MDR menus.

We went there mainly because we had early excursions the next day and second seating in the MDR; I wanted to eat earlier to digest my food. It had nothing to do with our tablesmates (still friends with all of them). After we told them about it, I think each couple then took one night and went as well. It's a nice calm to the MDR chaos.

We never did before, and I was in a bit of what to do on our next Wonder cruise because of new restaurant. If we don't like Tiana's Place we may opt for that. We are not meat eaters and even some of the seafood/fish on their menu has some sort of meat. I'm not into spicy or anything raw, smoked, cured, so little options there. I will try it of course, but if after the first try it isn't what we want I may go check out what they have upstairs. Nice to know the option is there and really don't know why we never did it before... Like we knew, but just didn't.

The biggest advantage to Cabanas for dinner is for those who think that early (main) seating is too early and late (second) seating is too late. Instead of having to arrive at exactly the scheduled times (5:45 or 8:30) every night, Cabanas allows you to arrive any time within a two (two and a half?) hour window. So that is appealing for some. Especially if there is a night when you want to eat earlier or later than your normal time, like because of an excursion that day or early the next morning.

We ate at Topsiders on the Magic before they refurbished and changed the name. It was our first cruise, a 7 night and that was our longest so far. We wanted to try everything. We liked it. They train the staff there.

I think with a 7 night or longer I would definitely go to Cabanas. It gives you some more variety in your dining options.
