Do you drive a 2011 Pilot or 2011 Acadia?

If you do please tell me what you love or hate about it. After extensive research and multiple test drives of each, I change my mind about which I want every five minutes. These are definitely the only two choices.

Please help an indecisive hormonal pregnant woman make up her mind!!

No, but I drive a 2006 Pilot and love it. I'd check out the reliability and true cost of ownership of both cars.

I have the 2011 Pilot Touring model and I LOVE IT. Lots of cargo space. My MIL has a 2010 Acadia and I like hers as well. I did find that the Acadia has a bigger blind spot for me and the rear window is a bit smaller.

I don't have either but my friend has a 2010 Acadia and complains about the horrible gas mileage she gets. Their 2007 Tahoe does much better on gas.

Visibility is my number one "con" for the Acadia. I felt like I couldn't see well at all, in any direction really. That rear window seemed tiny!

The Acadia definitely has a "fancier" feel though.

Ugh.

They're both pretty bad for gas mileage unfortunately, but not any worse than my Jeep Liberty, so my gas budget will stay about the same.

Personally I would go with the Honda because I think it would be more reliable in the future. We have two with 100K miles on them and they are still going strong. I have one Chevy with 60K mikes on it and it's a piece of crap and has been from day one, and it's the newest one. Just from my experience over the years, I will stick to Hondas from now on. I am going to be buying a Pilot in the next year or two myself. :)

I have a 2003 Chevy Impala I bought new and now has 160k miles on it. DH has a 2002 Chevy pickup truck with higher miles than my Impala. No problems out of either, just regular maintenance that any car would have to have done, oil changes, tune ups, etc. GM vehicles are reliable.

Here's what I always tell people when trying to make the Honda vs ??? decision:

1. As far as reliability, resale value...you can't go wrong with a Honda. Just look in Consumer Reports at the reliability charts....and the used cars they say recommend as a "buy" or "don't buy".

2. If you enjoy driving, get a Honda. Honda's are always "tuned" towards the sporty side in regards to handling, ride, feeling connected to the road, providing driver feedback, driving dynamics....as opposed to many domestics who place more value over a smooth, quiet ride and gimmicks.

Here's a nice comparo from Car and Driver:

I think the Acadia is basically the same as the Chevy Traverse...

Just bought a 2008 low mileage Honda Pilot. We love it! It's our first "grown up" vehicle after 13 years of minivans.

We bought a 2011 Pilot in January. I was skeptical. I wanted a tahoe or Suburban but my DH was dissatisfied with the quality. We tried the Acadia and Traverse but they both had huge blind spots and again my DH was not happy with the quality of the car.
He test drove the Pilot and insisted I try it. I really LOVED it. It's smaller. No blind spots. And it's zippy. I get good gas mileage and don't cry at the pump:lmao:
Overall I am glad we went with a Honda. I am 6 ft tall and my DH is 6 ft 4 inches. My oldest DD is 5'10" and my younger two are tall for their age and we have plenty of room.
We have the EX-L so we have leather, bluetooth, sunroof, and back up camera. We also got incentive financing which I LOVE!
Overall, I am happy with his decision! But SHHHHH!! Don't tell him he was right for once:rotfl2:

That was exactly why we went with the Pilot. My kids are tall and long-legged. I wanted a vehicle where they were comfortable in the back. We test drove an SE (cloth seats) and that convinced me that I wanted the EX-L (leather seats).

One of DS's first comments was that he loved the large front and back windows. That was something I definitely wanted. Didn't think I would care about the sunroof, but ya know what? It's nice ;).

I have the Acadia and wouldn't trade it or anything. It is super comfortable to drive, I am 5'5" and have no blindspot issues that were mentioned nor do I get terrible gas mileage. I average 22 miles per gallon which I thinks great for semi-city driving.

I used to love honda and recommend them all the time. They have had some brake issues in the most recent years with the ody and the pilot. I no longer recommend them after we recently had an accident, total brake failure (after they fixed the 2 recalls and claim there is nothing wrong...)

Consumer reports mentioned the pilot takes longer to brake than other suvs in the same class.

I drive a 2007 Pilot. I like it, but the road noise is really loud on the highway. We're looking for something quieter since we enjoy driving vacations.

I don't know if this applies to the 2011s, but it's something to check out.

I love my 2009 Acadia. I don't have a blind spot if I use my side mirrors. I never used them much with my minivan so that took getting used to. I wish the back windows were bigger. I also get good gas mileage.

I admit in the beginning I wasn't thrilled with the Acadia. I loved my minivan, and I didn't want anything else, but GM stopped making minivans, and we like to buy GM if possible. My DH talked me into the Acadia, and now I'm glad he did. There is so much passanger space, and I can fit 8 passengers. My minivan only held 7. We actually took 4 adults and 3 kids along with all our luggage on a 4 day trip out of state, and we all fit comfortably. The back was packed really tight.

The downside is no matter where we go we always see lots of other black Acadia's. I put something in my window to tell mine apart!

honestly, most of the new crossovers such as the Acadia are nothing more than minivans with hinged side doors versus sliding doors.
