Everyone around here calls it "Soda", if someone mentions "Pop" near me, I look at them very weird, it just doesnt' sound right at all to me.

BTW, watching Food Network, it refers to the original people who used to dispense these tonic creations etc. as "Soda Jerks", not "Pop Jerks", therefore Soda is the only correct term between the two.

BTW I like Diet Pepsi, but everyone orders Coke or Diet Coke when ordering cola...and whatever kind the restaurant serves is what you get.
Every once in a while they'll say:we have Pepsi, that okay? But usually they know that a Coke means Coek or Pepsi.

Nope, not in my world. If I order Coke, I want Coca-cola........if they say "We have Pepsi" then I say "Dr. Pepper then"...........if they ain't got that, I say unsweet tea.

I call it soda. :) But most people in Oregon call it pop and it drives me crazy! It's soda, not pop!

I haven't had any pop to drink since I lived in Detroit as a kid.

If you call it "pop" around here, people will sort of look at you like Lois Lane looks at Clark Kent when he uses the word "swell".

Sometimes I'll call it "pop" just to see the look on people's faces when I say it :lmao:. I kind of like how it sounds so old-fashioned ::yes::.

Normally I just call those types of drinks by their brand name, or if I'm ordering one in a restaurant where you fill your own, I just say I want a "drink" (as opposed to ice water). I also will say "soft drinks". Most people around here will just say "cokes", but that has always bugged me since I'm so literal.

I'm from Buffalo and call it soda (but I grew up on Long Island). I've since converted my dh to calling it soda and my kids call it soda b/c that's the only word for it they've been taught! ;)

I drink soda.I used to call it tonic but when I moved to Tennesee for awile a long time ago. The people in the store didn't know what I was talking about. They kept saying ...you want tonic water or hair tonic.

I live in the south and they call everything coke here in Memphis.
I call it soda and they do understand me.

You: Coke please
Waitress: which kind
You: coke, pepsi, sprite etc. then add the above mentioned endearment

But if you want a Pepsi or a Sprite why not just say that from the beginning? :confused3

Called it tonic growning up but then I lived in Missouri for a few years and you cannot call it tonic there. So I now call it soda.

It's a frappe, a sub, and if it's red and goes on pasta it's sauce and if it's brown and goes on turkey then it's gravy. :thumbsup2 :teeth:

Ahhhhhhhh!! Someone that speaks my language!! LOL!! and also a Red Sox fan!!

Soda for me. I was in Missouri growing up and it was soda. However the dividing line is the very northern end of MO. Because in Iowa it is POP.
I always found that odd...perhaps there is a town in MO where they say both.:scratchin
