Do you collect any certain brand, style or designer Christmas ornaments?

A couple of years ago I started collecting the mini Disney hallmark ornaments and have a small tree with them. I just think they are the cutest...they are so tiny!

I've also started a series for DS...it's a little dog that will grow up with DS. It started last year and will go until he's one year old. I also plan on letting him pick his own Hallmark oranment each year.

Other than that, our tree is a mixture of things. Most of my childhood ornaments are still at my mom's and she uses them. So we're slowly building our own collection. I like lots of different ornaments that bring back memories as you put them on the tree as opposed to themed trees.

Nope. Just posting to make you feel weird. ;) :teeth: :jester: ;)

Most years we haven't put up our own tree, and I honestly can't recall offhand what we have in the way of ornaments.

I have a friend who is a glass blower and she made me some blown glass ornaments before she moved to Oregon. They are really pretty and they look nice with seashells on the tree.

I occasionally pick up some Hallmark Ornaments.....:D

Our ornaments consistent of about 95% Disney. Then there's the monorail set that runs around the tree:teeth:

I started collecting Snoopy and Peanuts ornaments from Hallmark. I think they were discontinued for a while and I have since seen them again. I always thought that Snoopy would be a fun dog to have as a pet.

I have 2 christmas trees. One gets decorated with gold and red decorations, the other in blue and silver. When ever I go on holiday I always try to get an orniment with the place and year on for my tree.

Every year for the past 7-8 years I have gotten an ornament from an artist at the annual Christmas craft show in our town. He takes a blown-out egg, coats it about 15 times in clear acrylic, then paints a Christmas scene on them. He will date them for you at the time of purchase, too. They sound cheesey, but they are really little works of art. I have started collecting them for my boys, but I have to hang them at the top of the tree so they can't reach them!

Your ornaments all sound lovely! This thread makes me smile! I love the ornaments that bring back memories! They're the best!

Jeanette - they're beautiful!

Brer_Papa! :earseek: LOL! I love that you have the recalled ones for each of your kids! LOL! :p

minniepumpernickel -- wow! You're very fortunate! What a wonderful gift from a friend!

hrh_disney_queen - I don't think they sound cheesey at all! They sound beautiful! My SiL collects snowmen that a crafter makes to sell at the church Christmas Store every year. They're made of socks! LOL! They sound cheesey, but they're not! They're not cutsie or anything like that. I guess she has about 5 or 6 now, one from each year the crafter has had a table set up there!

Flaps! Behave! ;) :p

Now I want a tree decorated with shells. :o LOL!

I have what we call our memory tree. All the special ornaments my DD & DS made over the years, from the popsicle stick Rudolph to the construction and glitter ones. The ones they made in primary school with their pictures with Xmas decorations snapped into a plastic frame. Then we have the one each child picked out for themselves at craft shows or Christmas stores. Many were very heavy and tacky but loved all the more because they picked them out. Also some special ones with special meaning a patriotic one comerating 911. A NHL Buffalo Sabre one signed by Pat LaFontaine. First Christmas together, Baby's 1st Christmas for each child. Ones with our dogs pictures and dtd. Some from their grandparents and great grandparents.

A total mishmosh of love and memories. Both children are in college but we still pick special ornaments each year. We even have 2 WDW ornaments for each year we went. And for Christmas last year my DD bought me the Hand Blown Glass Mickey thru the years. :lovestruc

I never wanted a tree that looked like a magazine or one you see in the stores. I always had a real tree which truly meant something to me and my family every year. Decorating it just brings up so many memories. laughter, and love. When done we turn all the lights off in the house and light the tree. Just brings tears to my eyes every year.

I totally forgot my favorite collection of mine is my "Hermey" collection from Rudolph the red nosed reindeer.

I collect the Dave Grossman Saturday Evening Post Norman Rockwell Ornaments, although haven't added to it since 1994 (that was the year I got my last one) I couldn't find them round here any more I have seen them on the interrnet but I can't find all the years I need.

Christmas in July?:hyper:

my tree is so loaded with ornaments that you can barely see the tree. Last year someone commented on if I remember where they came from and I started to rattle off each ornament (some are very expensive antiques from Poland that my husbands grandmother gave me when we were married, some are my granparents, some are homemade ranging from when I was little, to my kids and friends, others have meaning; Disneyworld trip, NY city trip, etc. Some are from friends to the children (actually when my kids are grown I won't have so many:( ). When she couldn't believe I remembered them all, I realized that no one else would - so last year I started an ornament journal. I didn't get very far but will try to finish this year. I'm going to fill the book with a picture or each special ornament, who it belongs to (which child if any), who it came from, and a story if any that goes with it. Of course now I can add the year we received it.:earsgirl:

Oh my gosh! That is such a wonderful and touching idea! I hope other people will read your post and do the same! Thank you for sharing that with us! :) :)

About 10 years ago I started collecting Disney ornament by Christopher Radko. They are so beautiful. We have so many ornaments that we now theme our tree differently each year. Last year was all Disney. We've done it in angels, vehicles(cars, trucks and trains), and I think this year we might try it in Santas.
Our attic is full of Hallmark ornaments. Because of the rarity of "recalled" ornaments, we have purchased 4 Lion King 1994 ornaments with light and music. It's a beautiful ornament but the music wasn't clear so it was recalled and never sold again. One ornament for each of our 3 kids and one for us.
