If you see a phone number on your Caller ID or on your cell that you don't reconize it and they don't leave a message do you call the number back?

I have a friend that is sort of obsessed with these kind of calls, if she sees a number on her caller ID at home or on her cell she always calls them back and sort of "interrogates" the person. Who are they? Who are they calling? Why are they calling? What number did they dial, Where did they get the number? ect...
Some people are like....
"Geez lady, I dialed wrong, get over it."
and hang up on her.

I know if you get enough wrong numbers it's annoying but, I don't know, if I don't know the number and they don't leave a message I move on with life. Why waste my time calling them back?

I had a woman call and do that the other night. Problem is we didn't call her, she dialed wrong. When I asked her what number it was she had three of the last four numbers mixed up! :rotfl: Then she argued with me and yelled that I had been calling. I finally got pissy and told her we hadn't called and hung up.

When a unfamiliar number calls I might do a reverse lookup and if it is not listed I might prank call from my skype account.

I dont even call back numbers I know!

No? Why would I call someone I don't know? :confused3

If it's genuine, they'll call back or leave a voice mail.

I only do reverse lookups if I have an interesting conversation with whoever called. Like them telling me to watch the cops search the neighbor's house. Or if they leave a message telling me to pick up my dd at daycare. I don't have a dd. Other then that, I just let it go. If they want to talk to me, they will leave a message.

Very few people have my cell number on purpose so if I get an unidentified number I dont call it back. If they want me they can leave a message.

My home number is unlisted and very few people have it, so if they don't leave a message, I don't call them back.

Pretty much the same thing with my cell, although everybody and their brother has that number. I use my cell for business, but in all honesty if they don't leave a message they probably either realized they got a wrong number, or are just going to e-mail me.

My sister does the exact same thing! She drives me nuts.

I don't care who's calling me. I don't want to talk to the people I know, so why would I call a stranger back? :confused3 :rotfl2:

I don't call back, at the moment in the UK theres a standard scam where a number calls you and when you call back your on a premium rate number with a recorded message telling you, "You missed a call from one of their sales advisors please stay on the line to talk to one now", then on top of you calling the premium number they try to sell you something. . .

One day the lines in our town were all mixed up somehow (land lines) and my dd tried to call her aunt, kept getting the wrong number, so I tried, then dh got all mad at us and said " the 2 of you are crazy let me do it", and we all of us every time got the wrong number. I guess we should have left a message because the lady at the wrong number called us and SCREAMED at us!!

I explained that the lines were messed up (I had called the phone company and confirmed it) and she apologized, but it taught me a lesson!

I have made a mistake dialing on both land lines and cell phone lines and have had repeated harassing phone calls back. I guess some people are just paranoid. One guy kept calling and asking why I called him. One day my sister called my home phone number and a stanger answered, he was not in my house, the lines were messesd up. At that same phone number I would sometimes be able to pick up my phone and hear the entire phone conversations from the lady next door to me. I was polite I never listened in. Be careful of what you say on the phone, you never know who is listening.

Had this happen this past weekend. Guy calls and demands to know why we called him from our number. Then I hear his wife (or just female friend) yell in the background "whoops, thats a 2 not a 5 for the last number!", then he hangs up.

Your friend is crazy. :dance3:

Unless it's a number I know or they leave a message to call back, I totally ignore numbers on my caller ID. That's the whole point. To be able to screen your calls and only answer the ones you know or want to.

One time some guy rang our home number asking for a business with a similar number (it happens often). When my mother told him it was the wrong number, he refused to believe her. He told her he'd dialled the right number and SHE was the one who had made the mistake :confused3 He was quite angry at her refusal to admit that this was in fact the business he had intended to ring

I had someone do that to me once. I was at a concert with my friend. She had forgotten her phone and needed to call her daughter. Well she used my phone and misdialed the number, mixing up the last 2 numbers. She hung up and then dialed correctly. The misdialed number called right back and we didn't answer. 2 months later he calls my cell, and I dont' recognize the number. He starts yelling at me why do I keep calling him, my number is all over his caller ID (she dialed it once, 2 months prior, but I didn't know it was him yet). I said, sorry, but I have not called you. I get to work and show her the number and she says thats the one I called from the concert. I label the number in my caller id as "freak" so I know not to answer. Sure enough 2 months later he calls again. I did not answer that time.
