Do you burn candles?

I do and I love them! My favourite scent is vanilla - I always have LOADS of vanilla tea lights everywhere.

Right now I have some other flavour but it's really nice - my Mum got me them for Christmas and I'm just using up the last of the box.

I'm a little bit paranoid though, and blow them out whenever I leave the room - even if I'm just going to the bathroom

I used to love burning candles, and especially those "tarts." You know, those little waxy scented things that melt? They can make the whole house smell nice!

Now that we have a bird, though, we have to confine the candle burning to the bedrooms. My current favorite candle is a firewood scent from Bath and Body Works. I love the smell of burning wood!

We do all the time. In fact, I just went to the Yankee Candle outlet and bought a TON of votives.

You must be fairly new to the DIS if you asked this question. :goodvibes DISers love their Yankee Candles! :) Do you have Yankee candles in the U.K.?

My newest favorite scent is Vanilla Lime. I also like two of their newest scents, Tahitian Tiare Flower and Mediterranean Cypress. The latter two are very subtle.

Christmas is coming so I'll be burning my Christmas Cookie and Home for the Holidays. I have a huge closet full of Yankee Candles and burn them pretty much around the clock. :)

Have you smelled the basil tangerine? It sounds ghastly but it was so fresh and clean smelling. I'd got MIL a big jar for her birthday and really wish I picked one up for myself. I think pink grapefruit is one of my favorites.

YC's flagship store is a hop skip and a jump away from here. It's olfactory overload though and I usually have a headache by the time we leave. But the sampler room is so much fun it's almost worth the pain.

I haven't yet tried that! Is that new? I don't recall seeing that in the store...

It might have been one that wasn't popular and had a short-sales life there, as I found it at TJMaxx. Regardless, I really liked it.

ETA- I just did a quickie search and found it is retired. Acually it's basil/nectarine. Got my citrus mixed up. :)

I LOVE candles and have a lot sitting around but I don't burn them often at all. I wish I could but I just can't because...

1- I am a firefighter's kid and I have had horror stories etched into my mind. Not to mention that as a kid another firefighter's kitchen burned down because of candles. And a house down my street was gutted about five years ago because of one left in the basement. Paranoia!!!

2 - I have a kitten and an old cat that like to knock things down.

3 - I have a kid with autism who would get "ideas".

4 - I tend to fall asleep on the couch in the evening. I am the forgetful type sometimes and could easily head to bed without snuffing one out.

BUT, if 1,2, 3 and 4 didn't appy I'd be all over Yankee Candles!!!

We have a Yankee Candle department at our local garden centre. Although here in the UK they are not that easy stores or departments in stores to find.

I love Yankee Candles (although over here they are expensive, not sure what you guys pay but here the smallest jar is around $16.) At the moment I have my cherry candle lit, but last week I bought some Christmas Holiday scent and some Jack Frost which smell lovely. I also loved the fruit punch scent which I was burning last week.

I take my candles to the bathroom with me! :teeth:

I usually only have one lit at a time, so if I need to use the bathroom or if I do to the kitchen to cook/wash dishes I will just take it along rather than blowing it out.

The tarts would work for you though- with one of the little electric warmers instead of using the tealights. So you could have your cake and eat it too. (Or christmas cookie, birthday cake, gingerbread or blueberry muffin for that matter. ;) )

Mmmmm.... I will have to consider this very carefully.;) I really didn't think about the electric warmer. I am heading to the mall Monday so I will have to check it out!

My very favorite candles are Trapp Candles. They are made in Kansas City, so I'm not sure how available they are elsewhere (but the website has a link to someplace in Canada). I had a huge lavendar candle burning the other day, but it wasn't putting out much scent. I lit my itty bitty Trapp Candle votive, and it filled the whole downstairs with a great smell.

My favorite Trapp Candle scents are Orange/Vanilla, Snowflake, and Tropical Isle (coconutty).

Living in Massachusetts, DW and I used to go to the Yankee Candle factory and flagship store in Deerfield. If you love Yankee Candles, you will think you have died and gone to heaven. It is huge and they have EVERYTHING!!!!! Really nice way to spend the day, especially this time of year with the foliage.

I say used to because one year we realized we could open up our own shop with all the candles we had stockpiled!! Of course you could only get Buttercream, French Vanilla and Strawberry, but we had more than enough. DW is just starting candle burning season now - it's nice to come home to a sweet smelling house!

You know what, I have an electric tart warmer here and I would strongly caution you if you get it, keep it far out of your autistic child's reach. My kids know better than to go near a lit candle, but didn't understand the electric kind. One of them by accident pulled the thing down on top of himself, not realizing it was filled with hot wax. Fortunately most of it fell on the floor but it did burn his hand a little. He was howling in tears, I would hate for that to happen to a kid with sensory issues.

Currently burning my favorite Yankee candle Autumn Leaves

Only when we have a party. They freak DH out he is afraid of a fire.

I always have candles burning...
My favorite is Sweet Honeysuckle.
But it's starting to get cooler, so I'll switch to pumpkin pie, or spice soon.

My allergies get worse when candles are burning. I can't even walk into Yankee Candle without breaking out into a sneezing fit.
