Do you burn candles?

You know what, I have an electric tart warmer here and I would strongly caution you if you get it, keep it far out of your autistic child's reach. My kids know better than to go near a lit candle, but didn't understand the electric kind. One of them by accident pulled the thing down on top of himself, not realizing it was filled with hot wax. Fortunately most of it fell on the floor but it did burn his hand a little. He was howling in tears, I would hate for that to happen to a kid with sensory issues.

Thanks for the warning. She is, of course, my biggest concern with regard to things like this (despite being listed as #3 ;) ). She is actually hyposensitive. Therapy has made a big difference and she knows what hot is, but when she was small we didn't know she was hurt unless we saw blood or a wound. She understands "Don't touch that, it is HOT!" but curiosity is a powerful thing. I worry about open flame because she loves bonfires and will toss just about anything in one to watch it burn. The pyro force is strong with her, so having candles burning is beyond worrisome to me.

We currently have 5 dogs, I burn them constantly and the house still smells.

I don't like Yankee's at all. They are very overpriced and not near as strong as other homemade ones. *shrugs*

I burn a lot of candles, but also really love my tart warmer. My only complaint is that the tea light burns out so quickly! =)

My fave scents change - right now I am LOVING the vanilla coconut from White Barn/B&BW.

I burn candles all the time! I prefer Yankee candles, or Pier I. I'm in my favorite season right now, great time for pumpkin and spicey candles :)

I love candles..especially Yankee Candles.

A tip for those who like Yankee Candles, but think they are pricey.... check Bed, Bath and Beyond or Linens N Thing for their scent (or scents) of the month. The scent of the month is marked down 25%. You can then use your $5 off a $15 purchase coupon, or a 20% off coupon to save even more. I always buy my candles on sale.

Yes, next to Christmas, Autumn is my favorite time for candles. It gets dark early and chilly in the house, so I fill the downstairs with light and fragrance...Pumpkin Pie, Harvest, Autumn Leaves from Yankee Candle. I never pay full price, there are lots of coupons out there and I also use Bed and Bath Coupons to stock up. I just received a coupon the other day...$10 off a $20 purchase from Yankee Candle. I will be going there soon to get my Christmas scents. :goodvibes

Exactly the reason I would never have a dog!

My housemate has a dog, and I love both my housemate and the dog to bits. However, the house smells of D-O-G. I knew this when I moved in, so I have odor-neutralising blocks in my room and I burn candles so my room smells beautiful :goodvibes

I understand why people love dogs but personally I couldn't have one - I can ALWAYS tell when I enter someone's home whether they have a dog or not, no matter how big or small, because of the smell. Guess I'm just over-sensitive to it :confused3

Constantly! Right now, I'm burning a YC Mistletoe candle in the living room and a Bath & Body Works Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin in the kitchen. :goodvibes I also just got my online order from B&BW, which consisted of 3 bottles of Tree and 2 bottles of Winter home fragrance oil. I loooooooooooove both fragrances!

I have Yankee Candles all over and the guest room dresser is full of them. Right now I'm burning Balsam and Cedar on one side of the house and Moroccan Rose on the other. Vanilla Lime and Fresh Cut Roses are 2 favorites I've just added to my list!

Just wanted to say...if you have parrots or pet birds...candles can be toxic! I love candles, but we have so many darn birds that I can never burn them!!!

We have a Yankee Candle department at our local garden centre. Although here in the UK they are not that easy stores or departments in stores to find.

I love Yankee Candles (although over here they are expensive, not sure what you guys pay but here the smallest jar is around $16.) At the moment I have my cherry candle lit, but last week I bought some Christmas Holiday scent and some Jack Frost which smell lovely. I also loved the fruit punch scent which I was burning last week.

They ARE hard to find. Do you know of anywhere I could get them without having to go to a garden center? The postage on most candle websites is high and it's more trouble than it's worth with the postal strikes at the moment - plus I'm rarely in during the day to receive deliveries and so I have to walk into town to get it anyway!

I  candles! I like the fruity or baking smells the best. I do get mostly Yankee or White Barn, but even a Walmart candle will do, as long as it's scented! The stronger the better. :)

I love candles as well, must be the piro in me. But usualy no scents.

We have a few holders in the dark corners of the living room and dining room. You can realy see the light dancing on the walls. It is real creepy for scary movies too...

We have wraught iron holders on the wall that hold 4 and another that hangs and holds three. The candles are all below the lip of the glass holder so they will never spill wax and catch on fire.

Mikeeee

OK we did have a cinnamon/pine that smelled pretty good. Oh,, and the time we had a jacuzzi sweet at the hotel and DW came back with hazelnut/cream candles to put around it.

It's just started getting chilly here this past week, so I've pulled out the Yankee Candles I've been accumulating. We had an outlet store open 5 min from my house, so I've probably bought more candles in the past 3 months than I have in the past 3 years.

My favorite is Home Sweet Home, but I am burning MacIntosh and Sparkling Cinnamon tarts right now, ymmm; pure aromatherapy for me.

lori

The tarts would work for you though- with one of the little electric warmers instead of using the tealights. So you could have your cake and eat it too. (Or christmas cookie, birthday cake, gingerbread or blueberry muffin for that matter. ;) )

Candle warmers are the best way to enjoy candles without the worry. I keep one going 24/7 except when I will be gone overnight. Today at a small craft fair I got some great smelling chunky tarts that were locally made.

Yes, as a matter of fact I just found some pumpkin pie scented ones. They smell so yummy!
