Do you bleach your room?

I am by no means a "clean-freak" I just really worried about H1N1 in WDW and ruining our vacation so my question is DO any of you bleach down your rooms?

Does anyone bring their own sheets?

I am really wish Florida would get a cold snap so these germs would die off a bit!

I don't really do much, I usually bring a wipe for the remote and door handles, but that is about it. The sheets are washed, but I don't know how often the bed spreads are washed. I don't worry about it very much, I'm not much of a germ freak, I just wash my hands often and hope for the best. It's worked the last 12 trips thankfully :)

i have been thinking about this a lot lately. I will definitely be taking something to bleach the bathroom, giving the kids a bath in a hotel without cleaning it first makes me feel icky. I had thought about bringing my own sheets. Definitely bring wipes for remote, doorknobs, etc. I was thinking i would probably ship the stuff down there before so i dont have to pack it. Or stop by the store. What is everyone else doing?

I always have some individually wrapped antibacterial wet ones in my purse. I use them on my hands before I eat at any restaurant (I think that is cleaner than washing in the public bathrooms).

At any hotel, I use one of the wipes for the phone, remote and door handles. I don't worry about the bathrooms because I feel that most every hotel (even cheap ones) at least spray down the bathrooms with disinfectant between guests.
It is my understanding that Disney washes comforters between guests....not sure if that is true though.

I was planning on sending it down ahead of time. I was only planning on a zippy of Clorox wipes.

They really change comforters after every room change? I will sleep much better now :) The thought always creeps me out. We wipe down handles, remote, lysol the room...that's about it. The parks will be the place carrying the sick people and germs, with the crowds, most likely.

On our last trip, they changed the duvet covers mid week. I know because they left the clean covers on the window sill and the duvets on the beds uncovered (one of several housekeeping issues at CSR, but that's another story). I don't know what prompted them to do it mid-trip.

I do not clean anything in the room. We clean our hands frequently and avoid touching our face/mouth.

Every change of guest they strip the beds completely and change the comforters :)

I don't think that's true about the comforters. My understanding is that they are NOT washed between guests but on a different (less frequent) schedule.

Speaking of wipes....has anyone seen the individual packages of Clorox wipes? I've seen the disinfecting hand wipes...etc but this year I can't find the Clorox wipes resealable purse size package and we use those a lot on vacation.

I never have before but am thinking I may bring along the lysol and probably lysol wipes.

Nope, and I am not gonna. IF I don't get it at work ( I am a nurse and my unit is the designated FLU floor), I am not going to stress about getting it at Disney

I totally agree. My son had it already and neither my husband nor I got it. This was over a month ago.

Besides, antibacterial won't kill H1N1. You need antiviral. Something with alcohol in it. And wipe down all of WDW, not just your bathroom or hotel room.

We always bring wipes for all handles, remote, tables and phone, we have been doing that for many years now and not because of H1N1. We do not use the comforters, we fold them up and put them in the closet. We know you cannot clean everything but doing some things is a lot better then doing nothing.

Since Disney is all about the "green", I was able to find the antibacterial wipes that are considered environmentally friendly. I also brought an extra ziplock bag to put the remote control.

I normally go by myself, so I don't worry about it as much - but this year with the strains of the flu, having two friends along, and we also have a kitchenette this time, I thought it would be a good idea! And if we don't use them up, I will just leave them for the next family.

No, we have never cleaned anything in the hotel ourselves - that's the job of Mousekeeping. This trip we have requested an allergy cleaning because ds8's asthma has been out of control for the past several months and we just can't get it back in control - he will be staring shots every-other-week starting next week. I think the climate change between OH and FL will not be kind to him.

nope. It is largely ineffective anyway. It just makes whoever is doing it feel like they have done something. A "cold snap" on Florida is not going to "kill off" H1N1. It doesn't work that way with a virus.

Nope, not once in over 20+ trips have I ever cleaned my room upon arrival. Housekeeping seems to do a good enough job. If I see something that looks like it needs a bit more cleaning, then fine. But to date, that hasn't been an issue.
I have more of an issue with all those railings in the parks...have you ever seen the kids wiping their runny noses and then run their hands along those railings??? Yuck. So, we wash our hands at least once every hour, we use hand sanitizer in between, and try not to touch common areas in the parks.
