Do you bleach your room?

I'm one of those crazy people who does bring their own sheets...and towels....but that's because I'm allergic to whatever detergent they use. I have multiple severe chemical allergies and the last time we went without bringing sheets adn towels I ended up in the ER with hives becasue of the sheets.
I have to do that whenever I travel.

I being lysol wipes but only for the plane because of my peanut allergy.

We bring hand sanitizer ebcasue I cannot use the soap in the bathrooms. It has a chemical that makes me break out.

My doctors are continuously amazed with the fact that I do not get sick that often cosnidering I have asthma adn a suppresed immune system and their convinced it's becasue my immune system is stronger than it would normally be on these meds. because we DONT use all of these chemicals, etc.

I have gotten a rash from the chemicals in the sheets/towels as well and for the first time, I am bringing my own washclothes/towels on this upcoming trip. I mean, I'm glad they use bleach to kill everything, but holy cow - it does a number on my skin! I have never cleaned the room before, but I think after reading this, I may wipe down just the handles. DD already had the flu, so I'm not overly worried about that specifically and if we get sick, I would guess it would be from the plane more than from the room.

I do the usual hand sanitizer, maybe wipe the remote. Other than that I guess I live dangerously too. So far I'm still surviving....

IMO, people who do this type of OCD cleaning are the ones who do not build up immunes and get sick alot.. I dont bother with none of that crap, I do wash my hands after the bathroom tho, thats bout it. I am hardly ever sick and if I am its a day or two then back to normal.. How can your body grow strong if you never let it fight... Just my 2cents.

I agree completely. And you will read that folks who do this still complain that their kids are getting sick. I do none of it and no one gets sick. With all of the public transportation, whether trains, subways and planes I take I/we must have a great immune system. Even my 4yo granddaughter doesn't get sick when she goes with us to WDW 3 trips a year and we don't do this crazy compulsive cleaning and she sucks her 2 fingers when she'd tire. I think some people go too far and make it worse. Now if we could only work on the 2 yo granddaughters "3 second rule".

I totally agree. My son had it already and neither my husband nor I got it. This was over a month ago.

Besides, antibacterial won't kill H1N1. You need antiviral. Something with alcohol in it. And wipe down all of WDW, not just your bathroom or hotel room.

So true! 4 out of 5 of my family got H1N1 at WDW earlier this month, and we brought the Purell and Clorox wipes and did everything we could to avoid it. There were people coughing everywhere. If someone has H1N1 and coughs in the air near you, you're exposed.

No... A little dirt never killed anybody. I am not saying I will tolerate filth but I don't get paranoid and bleach out everything/bring my own sheets/cover all other furniture in plastic ;)

Our bodies need to build immunity somehow.

Be sensible -- wash your hands, don't be touching railings then stick your fingers in your mouth, etc but don't be so paranoid that you live in some clean bubble afraid of every germ.

For what it's worth, if you were to get H1N1 from your hotel room, chances are (depending on the length of your vacation) you won't actually get sick until you get home. H1N1 typically takes almost a week to gestate before you start showing symptoms. So at least the vacation isn't ruined. :)

I never really thought about doing these things. I wash my hands regularly and I am careful not to touch my face but that's about it.

I have never been called a clean/germ freak by any means but I will admit that for our upcoming trip (leaving Monday) I will take precautions against getting sick. My daughter currently has an ear infection which followed several days of croup late last week, I will do my best to make sure that is all for her (at least for now.) I will have hand sanitizer with us at the parks, wash hands frequently and at the resort room I plan on bleaching the tub, wiping down the remote, door handles, fridge door, etc. Hopefully we'll all stay well.

I should never have opened this thread. I have tendancies toward OCD that I try to keep in check. And now I am rethinking how I pack for my trip in January.:eek:
