Do we need Park Hoppers?

Hi there - this is our third trip to the World, and for the first time I am debating the extra cost of Park Hopper tickets.

I am certain that on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday we will not need hoppers.

Wednesday is a sort of question mark - but I am certain I could make do without park hoppers that day.

Friday is the tough day - I am not certain what we will do during the day, if anything, and will go to Epcot at 4 for the evening. Definitely.

So - I see us 'possibly' needing a hopper for one day during our seven day visit.

Here's my question - can I buy an extra park day (so an 8-day ticket instead of 7) for only an additional $20 and use that to get into the second park on that one day - instead of forking out the $200 it would cost to get park hoppers for the week?

And is the only way to get into the waterpark with the waterpark and more option - I don't really want to pay for it when we are going in December and chances are we won't get to a waterpark.

Thanks for any info you have.

no - you cannot add the 8th day and use the extra day to get into 2 parks.

you can pay oop to get into a waterpark when you are there if you find the weather to cooperate and you have time to fit it in. you do not need to add wp&m.

First you can't use two days of admission in one day, if you want to hop you have to get Park Hoppers.

Second you can buy just a one day admission to a water park for around $46. You should only buy the WPF&M if you plan on going to a WP or DQ more than once.

You can't do this unfortunately.

You can however buy a water park ticket at the ticket window of the water park (Blizzard Beach is the only one open at this time).

Water Park Single Day Tickets

All prices listed below are before tax.

Blizzard Beach Ticket (Ages 10 and Over)
$46.00

Blizzard Beach Ticket (Ages 3-9)
$40.00

Purchase at any Disney Water Park.

Always get the best information here! I'm going to have to think about this now - can I upgrade to park hoppers when I get there if we decide we want them?

I am finding I forget a lot of what I used to know 'off the top of my head' when planning our last trip! :rotfl:

Our upcoming Thanksgiving trip is my 10th trip and we've never used park hoppers. But now DD and I have annual passes, so I bought my DS a 7 day park hopper pass (the other two men in the family aren't going with us). So we plan on park hopping to take advantage of evening EMH, and to eat at Epcot, where the best restaurants are. If we just wanted to park hop for one day out of a 7 day trip, I wouldn't spend the money. But that's just me. :goodvibes

Yes, you can add the park hopper option at any time. Be aware that it's a flat fee of $54 plus tax per ticket to upgrade to a hopper regardless of how many days.

We find the ph option to have teriffic value. Sure you can go without them, and everyone has a budget to stay within, but they make eveyrthing so much easier.

You can change plans for weather, you can cycle back to parks just to hit stuff you missed or want to do again, you can go to a park just to take advantage of am emh, and you can be more flexible with your adr's (not needing to go to the park where you have the adr).

If you're adding them at the park, make your decision earlier rather than later in the week - because the fee doesnt change if you do it on the last few days of your trip, and you could have used it earlier in the week.

Several parts to this answer.

1. The cost to add hopping (or WPF&M) is $54 ($57.51 including tax) per ticket. It does not matter if it is adult or child, one day or ten day, first day of use or last day of use, the price is the same.

2. A base ticket is one major (theme) park per day. You are allowed to re-enter the same park if you leave it on one day, but it can only be used at the one park.

Note that the ticket will state on it either "Not Valid For Park Hopping" or "One Theme Park Per Day". That should be a hint.

If you put the ticket in the turnstile of another park the display on the Guest side of the turnstile will be "ACCESS DENIED". The top line of the display on the Greeter side will give information about the ticket, and the second line of the display will say "CROSSOVER NOT PERMITTED". The turnstile will not unlock.

This is because Disney charges $5.00 per day over four days on a ticket, but charges $54 to allow hopping. It does not make economic sense for Disney to allow this.

If you actually have multiple tickets (more than one physical ticket per person) as opposed to multiple day tickets, you can use these tickets for multiple entries. But it makes absolutely no economic sense as a separate ticket costs a lot more than adding hopping to a ticket.

Or, as I recently told a Guest who was arguing with me about using a different day on the ticket:

The turnstile computer thinks today is Friday. The turnstile computer at the other park also thinks today is Friday. The two turnstile computers talk to each other. If you can convince this turnstile computer that today is not the same Friday as the other computer thinks, it will let you in.

3. If you are only planning to have one water park or Disney Quest day you are much better off purchasing separate tickets.

If you add the Water Parks Fun and More option to your MYW ticket it will cost $57.51 (including tax) per person, adult or child. It will add one WPF&M entry per day on the base or hopper ticket (but two entries on a one day ticket).

If you purchase one day water park or Disney Quest tickets they cost $48.99 adult and $42.60 child. If you are an Annual Passholder or DVC Member you can purchase one day water park tickets at an approximate 10% discount.

This upgrade may be done at any Park (including water parks or TTC) ticket booth or Guest Relations Office. If it is on your room key it can also be done at the Resort Lobby Concierge.

(Note each person must have their own ticket. Even though it adds multiple entries to your ticket, you can only use one ticket for one person.)

Also, if you are planning to do three or more water park visits within a year there is a definite price advantage to purchase Water Park Annual Passes.

We have two unusual policies at the water parks concerning ticketing. Both involve use of a one day water park ticket.

One is we will allow full value of the used WP ticket to upgrade to a WP AP as long as it is within 14 days of use.

The other, which is the only time combining tickets is allowed, is we will merge a used WP one day ticket with a MYW ticket to add the WPF&M option and only charge the difference in price.
