I'm planning on taking $1000 with us on our 8 day trip. Our food qs meal plan and tickets are already taken care of, but this will have to include our luggage fees ($100 round trip, $80 for parking at airport and 1 character meal @$50). It is only me and my DD14 (which she has $200 of this money too. So after all those expenses Ill have $530, is that enough?

I would think you will be fine. On our last trip, our kids each had $50 Gift Card each to spend, and DH and I only bought a Beach Club print and some Mickey hand measuring spoons! :rotfl: But we have been a few times so souvenirs aren't as big of a draw anymore. I guess it is up to you and your own spending habits. Have a great trip!

Well that breaks down to about. $66.00 a day, with food not a concern, personally I think that is plenty of money. It all depends on how expensive your taste in souvenirs is.
For some people that would be way too little.
It is a very subjective question.

I only Plan to have $80 with me it the parks.
I am not on a food plan.

I know I can eat for about $40-50 a day (mostly CS, but I have looked at the menus and know how to do it)
Leaving myself with $30-40 pocket money.

Aside from one or two special items, I collect pressed pennies (the perfect 51 cent souvenir) Disney Pins (pretty expensive in the parks but I try to ebay some ahead of time to trade,), maybe a plushie or two. I would LIKE some of the bigger items and the World Showcase is full of things I cannot afford but I am a great window shopper and can enjoy looking at them without HAVING to own them. So $30 goes a long way with me.

The only place I think this will not be enough is the Start Tours shop. I collect Start Wars stuff. ;)

That is so funny because my plan for purchases is a (David Doss) Beach Club print and those Mickey hand measuring spoons too. :rotfl:

OP, since your meals are taken care of I think that is plenty of money to bring. I am budgeting $500 for 5 of us so I would think what you have for 2 is definitely enough.

I think it is enough. We are a family of 5 & not on a the dining plan.

I am taking around $1300 which will pay for all our food & what few things we decide to buy. I am expecting to come home with some money.

I try to start with $100 a day and roll over the extra to the next day. I never spend that much per day and Disney trips are one of the few times that I am pretty free with my cash. The last day, I take the leftover to DD and spend it on something stupid. I paid $75 last year for a Christmas tree skirt.

Hope the op doesn't think I'm a hijacker, but on my last trip my DH kept yelling at me to buy myself something and I also bought the Mickey hand measuring spoons!!!

But to answer the question, I think you will have plenty of money.

I invest the approximate $75 in trip insurance for emergencies. We had a dental emergency one year that out of state would not be covered. $500 while on vacation. That was the only year I did not take any out and needed it.

Considering you already have meals taken care of, that would be plenty. We took $800 last week which covered food (even a couple of table service restaurants) plus souvenirs. It was an 8 day trip (including the drive home). Just depends on how much you plan on spending on souvenirs and extras.

I've been debating this as well...it's just the three of us, dh and ds (12) and I think we're planning to bring around $1500. We are on the dining plan as well...but out of our 8 days there will be spending two at the beach...so I'm sure our meals those two days will be at least a few hundred.

I think you've got enough but everyone keeps saying your meals are covered when I think you might find yourself spending a bit out of pocket for meals. Are you planning on bringing anything for breakfast in the room? You'll get 2 meals a day and 1 snack. You could use the snack for breakfast but I would think you might want an icecream or other treat in the parks some days.

I always manage my vacation money that way. I have a separate cash allowance per day, that is all I can spend that day.. if there is leftover it keeps rolling over, so any bigger purchases get to wait till the end of a vacation if I have enough left.
