Do they take Visa/ Amex gift cards?

In the parks or at resorts do they accept gift cards other than Disney gift card as payment for food, or payments used on magic bands? We plan on using our MB for payment for food and shopping, but we received a bunch of gift card for Christmas, can we use those to pay off our balance? Santa was good to me this year, I'd like to use my gift cards at Disney if I can.

My mother gave me a Visa gift card that she wasn't going to use and I used it to purchase an item at Memento Mori and it worked just fine! I think they should work everywhere else that takes cards, but I haven't tried using them anywhere else. I try to avoid the Visa/Amex gift cards.

I used a bunch of amex gift cards a few years ago without any issues.

Yep and sometimes your remaining balance will even print on the WDW receipt.

Yet I tried to use an Amex g/c last May, at OKW. It wouldn't work. The CM tried 3 times, telling me that their system has a lot of issues with non-Disney gift cards. Long story short.....I had to use my credit card to settle my room account. And I didn't want to do that!! That's not how I had budgeted for the trip.
I've used it, since then, at the Dolphin (to pay for my from), and here at home at a Benny's discount store. It was a $500 card, so it would have been nice to use it at WDW.

She was probably trying to run it as a gift card in the system and not a charge card. When I worked in food and beverage years ago I never had any issues with any credit brand gift cards.

Worst-case, if there is a problem, take the card and buy a Disney Gift Card for the amount of the Visa/Amex gift card - of just do it before you go to use it. Especially if that is the money you intend to use for the trip and only for the trip, there's no real reason not to.
