My DFi just got $300 worth of gift cards as a surprise gift at work:goodvibes and we were planning on using these as extra souvenir/snack money for our anniversary/ engagement trip in August. Will these be accepted at the parks?

Sure...they are excepted anywhere they take a normal Visa card which is basically everywhere.

They will be accepted but you would have to keep track of totals. I know also sometimes on the Visa Gift Cards when you use them for dining (anywhere not just at Disney) they will allocated an extra 15-20% on the card and all of it will not be able to be used right away. If I were you I would either use that Visa and put as a down payment on your Keys to the Kingdom Card and just use that or get Disney Gift Cards with the Visa from Target or Walgreens.

I have a $300 VISA gift card from Verizon that I am planning to use for food and other purchases next week. Will let you know if I encounter any difficulties!

I would use it to purchase Disney Gift cards... with the visa card, you will need to keep track of your balance, with the Disney gift card, your balance will be printed out on your receipt. Just less to keep track of when you are having a good time is always a good thing :rotfl:

Good idea! Can you purchase Disney Gift Cards at the resorts or in the parks? My local Disney store is closed for "refurbishment" (lol)...

Thanks!

You can purchase a Disney gift card at the resort store or any other store on property. If you plan on using all the money while at Disney I would do this as I have found I can use any card once for less than face value and then I am stuck and not able to use it again on property.

i used to work at borders before it closed. Most times we couldn't take the gift cards if people didn't know the balance as it just messed with our system (long story)

so I agree with everyone.... use it to buy gift cards! i know they also sell disney gift cards at target, or they do in the one in the town next to me! :thumbsup2

We use Visa, Mastercard and American Express gift cards all the time at Disney World (a work perk for my husband). We never keep track of the balances since we figure when one runs out, we'll just switch another card or use something else. We also carry a small amount (about $25) in cash with us. Never had a problem.

I tried to use the Visa Gift Cards called Vanilla and they were not able to be used at any of the WDW stores or resorts, I did have a Visa Gift card I got at my local Credit Union that worked fine but those Vanilla gift cards I got from Sams and Walgreens did not work. Our trip was in December 2011.

I read in another post someone having an issue with them. I had a vanilla visa GC, and I went to Walgreens and used it for a Disney GC. Had no problem. Someone else went to Walgreens and they wouldn't let them use a GC to pay for a GC, but at Target they were able to. So now I have a $100 Disney GC that I know I will be able to use!
