Do small purses require bag check?

We are trying to avoid the bag check line a couple of the days on our upcoming trip and I was wondering if my wife's small purse that only holds her phone and small wallet would require a bag check. Thanks to anyone who can answer this!

Every bag requires a bag check. If you want to skip it, just stick your wife's stuff in your pocket or have her put it in her pocket.

At AK a couple of weeks ago they had a "small bag" bag check line that was a lot shorter. I did not see this at all the parks, but it might be something to look for if she has a small bag with her.

Even if it's a wristlet, if they see it they'll send you through back check

Every bag goes through bag check, big or small.

I'd also be wary about stuffing pockets. People with stuffed pockets are more likely to be selected for screening before park entrance and it's known that on occasion people with stuffed pockets are asked to remove them for review.

Yes. Even a wristlet that holds just a phone is a bag.

Quick question. How do I post my own post? I only know how to reply. Sorry that this is irrelevant.
I'm on my phone now, so I can't tell you the exact wording on the pic version if the site, but look up on the top of the page for a thing that says "start a new thread" or something similar, and click that and create the subject line and post there. Hope this helps!!

Thank you so much! I'm on an iPhone so I think it'll work.

Each park let me skip bag check with one of those small iPhone purse/holder for our December/January trip. I still had it unzipped so they could take a quick peek.

That is not the case anymore.
They started enhanced screening after the Paris bombing attacks.

We just got back and there were security CMs directing people where to go in each park.
Their 'script' was "absolutely no bags, stay to the center. Any bags at all, go to a bag check table. Any bag, fanny pack, comtainer needs to be checked, no matter what size."

We did see people with small bags, fanny packs or camera cases try to go into the no bag line. They were sent back to get checked.

I got chosen for random screening several times on our last trip. I only cary a small Vera Disney backpack and had already gone thru the insanely long bag check lines and then went thru the extra screening. The extra screening was just a couple of minutes - much less than the first bag check line.

I am going bagless on the next trip. The lines are just too long now because they are checking each bag so thoroughly. Add in the amount of stuff that most guests bring into the park and the bag check lines just move so slowly.

But to answer the original question, yes, even a small bag has to go thru bag check. I did see a small bag line a couple of days, but not at every park.

I get through with no problem with everything I need in my cargo shorts pockets. I keep my hands free and sail through the no bags queue.

I have been asked to empty my cargo shorts pockets, I had on boys shorts since women's cargo pants are joke the pocket won't even hold a small flip phone. Anyway, they were a tad baggy and I had my phone in one pocket and a poncho in the other one so they were kind of bulging. Add that to the baggy factor and the guard asked me what was in them. I had no problem pulling out my poncho and phone and sort of kind of spread them open so he could see down in there. I wouldn't have even had a problem had he wanted to pat them, I've traveled abroad to a few countries where they don't have the machines and have had many a pat down and not always by women officers. I've also been selected to go through the screening, most of the time when I was along and no bags. No big deal, I just put my phone in the bin and walk through. I've been looking into the running belt type things that just look like a stretchy belt but have a zipper pocket for money/cards and another pocket for the phone and another small pocket with a hook for keys. I plan on carrying my phone in my hand through security so there won't be any lumps and bumps. I'm also thinking about getting some sort of light weight small cloth bag that will hold my rain jacket to put in the cell phone pocket while going through security. I'll carry my jacket in my hand (it's clear plastic like the CMs wear) and after I'm done I'll put the the jacket in the bag attach it to the keys hook and sort of tuck it/dangle it from the belt. I wear sundresses so there are no pockets. Looks like this. http://www.amazon.com/Upgrade-Eazym...F8&qid=1460906805&sr=8-12&keywords=money+belt something like this for the rain jacket http://www.papermart.com/net-shower-bag-with-loops/id=14330#14330

I was at Epcot and HS yesterday. I don't know if this is a new development, but we had the most thorough bag checks ever. Everything in my backpack was taken out, wristlet opened, tin of altoids shaken, it was noticibly more thorough than any bag check I've gone through.

We are going to do the same, but I am still concerned that bulges in our cargo shorts will cause problems. If I have my small, compact camera dangling from my wrist, no camera bag, can I still walk through the no-bag line? Then I can slip it into a pocket when we get through the gate.

Are these long lines mostly in the morning? I don't carry a bag so that I can avoid the bag check, but will want to enter the park late in the day to take pictures, and will need my camera bag. Just wondering if the long lines are all day long....:rolleyes1

It looks like your last trip was in 2015; things are much tighter now after the Paris bombings then they were in 2015.

We just got back and saw some people with obviously full cargo shorts pockets bring pulled out of the no bag line and told to empty their pockets.

Any bag, no mater how small will be checked.
We went at various times and there definitely were longer lines in early morning than later.
One thing we noticed at MK - for the morning, they set up tables near the Guest Relations outside of the gates. As guests were coming in from the buses, they were going there, making long lines. A security CM was telling people to keep going to the left, where the bag checks were before. We did and found very short lines there.
The lines fluctuate with the arrival of boats, monorails and parking lot trams at the other parks.
