rarely does anyone charge a fee...sometimes ( usually) they just bring an extra plate and you do the spliting yourself. why should they charge a fee unless they have a cover charge..because you are spending less? some people just go someplace for dessert or order a salad instead of an entree? should they pay an extra fee too? should they charge you a fee if you use a coupon or the entertainment book? in those cases you probably are spending less than someone who splits an entree and gets an appe or dessert.
Some restaurants do charge a fee and they split the meal in the kitchen and bring it out on two plates.

It just makes me so sad to see so many people think we that #1 either they are better than others or #2 that people who can not afford to spend tons on meals and things should stay home. It is all in how smartly you spend your money. Are you saying that it is better for somebody to go on a trip and spend thousands of dollars just to stay at only the best places, eat only the best food and buy anything that they want and just put it on a credit card or not pay their bills just to be able to do this??? :confused3 Yet a family who pays all their bills, does not put anything on a credit card and comes to Disney but does not spend tons of extra money on the trip is wrong and should stay home just so others do not see them share a meal or something?

Your whole post was well said! I agree! What is important to one person may not be for another... that is what it comes down to. You makes your own choices and no one should tell you they are wrong unles they are illegal or hurtful or something. I am with ya, let me go where, when and how I want to MY Disney trip with my money that I worked for, TYVM :thumbsup2 Right on kid!

Normally I wouldn't jump into this kind of thread - but I just have to ask a favor -

We are going in June for a family reunion and though we won't be squeezing too many people in our rooms (we got an extra one), won't be pool hopping, won't be tying dirty diapers on our kids strollers, making salads from the condiments (eeeww) or doing anything else mentioned here - I will be sharing my meals with my daughter!! I have a medical reason for not eating a full meal - I physically can't or I will be turning green and running for the nearest garbage can - so I order a light salad or soup and my daughter (age 20) and I share a meal so that I can get a little of each food group without paying for something that I will never (and can't) eat! Restaurant portions are getting way too big and for some reason the waiters never believe I'm under 12 when I try to order a child's portion!! :rotfl2:

So please, when you see us sharing our meals, please keep your rude and obnoxious comments and stares to yourself. And I won't point out that you're picking your nose or scratching your butt in public (when you think no one is looking!!) :lmao:

Enjoy your WDW magic!

Can someone post the mug refill polocy? I don't believe there is any policy prohibiting sharing or the resale of mugs, and let us assume the the buyer washes it before they use it. Hasn't buying and selling used goods become a national obsession due to ebay?

One can sell a used mug. It just cannot be used at the resort that is on it. But you can use it at your home or in your car.

Policy from allearsnet:

"Most of the WDW Resorts have a "Refillable Mug" program in their food court area (aka Fast Food-Counter Service). You purchase a mug for around $11.99 and are entitled to "free" or less expensive refills for the duration of your stay. The refills are available from the beverage dispensers and usually include: coffee, sodas, ice tea, and hot chocolate. No other purchase is required to get your mug or your refills.
The mugs have the hotel logo on them and signs state that they are for use at that hotel for the duration of your visit"

While I wouldn't pool hop and don't care about refillable mugs as I've never purchased one, I have better things to do than sit around and dictate what I think everyone else should do. What I think doesn't matter a whit as people will do what they want to do anyway.
I'm just thinking maybe this is why my doctor swears I don't have a blood pressure and will live to be 1000 years old. :rotfl2: "Don't sweat the small stuff" is my motto. I go to WDW to relax and get away from stress, not to worry about what everyone else does.
All I can say is everyone have a great trip-I know I will.

LOL! :rotfl2: Yet, you still read and posted to this thread. Maybe you don't care specifically about what is being discussed here, but it's pretty clear that you are as "worried" about other people's choice of discussion topics, as you accuse them of being regarding mugs and pool-hopping. You're no different than the rest of us.

Thanks for the good wishes. I'm sure everyone here WILL have a great trip. :goodvibes

Stiil don't see where it prohibits sharing or transferring a mug.

Does everyone really think Disney cannot police itself against all these so called abuses? Do you really think they are unaware of any of these practices? Do you really think they need "Dis Crusaders" watching their back? Just like my boys were told in Kindergarten, "Don't worry about what everyone else is doing. Worry about following the rules yourself, and let the teacher (in this case Disney) worry about the others." Disney (just like the classroom teacher) will sometimes look the other way when less important rules/policies are violated, and Disney (the teacher) does not need the rest of the class(Dis posters) telling the rest of the class what is right or wrong, or tattling.

Way to go Sanctus! I am a single mom and I earn a modest income, so I look for free dining and good airfares and take advantage. I save up and I get an extra check twice a year...one for Christmas, the other went toward WDW last year and will again this year. Could I spend my money on something else, yep I sure could. I could take more mini vacations to the Dells with the kids instead, we could get expensive meals, go to full price movies instead of matinees, I could spend more money on my clothes, I could have a fancier car than a Saturn without power locks and windows, I could give up my payless shoes for some name brand ones. You have to weigh what's important to you and your family. None of this stuff is more important to me or my kids than a happy family vacation.
Quite frankly though I have been amusing myself with this thread but I don't get where anyone gets off saying "if you have to share burgers, you shouldn't be there". I don't think anyone said in all the posts that they "HAD" to share a burger but it seemed more like a choice which some consider frugal enough to be worth it. It's like saying "if you can't pay full price for a movie instead of matinee then you have no business there". I can afford the full price but it isn't worth the price difference to me to go to see the same movie a couple of hours later. It's just silly that this thread went there. Hey and btw what about Mr. Footlong, I'm beginning to wonder about his drama

I pretty much could have written this post. We don't spend alot of money on expensive clothes or eat out a lot (we have mostly chain restaurants anyway). We decided that we prefer to go places and do things. I also don't see the point in spending any more money than you have to for things.

I've noticed that attitude as well, and it would be funny if it wasn't so disheartening. I know some people's logic is that "Everyone who pool hops and builds salads from the condiment bar is costing me money because Disney has to raise prices to compensate." Technically, I suppose this is true, although I'd throw their own logic back in their faces. If you're pinching pennies so tightly that you'd worry about Disney raising its prices because you see someone piling a couple of extra lettuce leaves on their plate at the condiment bar, maybe it's you who can't afford to be there. ;) You ought to be home where you can strictly monitor the dispensing of leafy vegetables from your refrigerator.

I'm more than a bit surprised at the biting comments to each other on this thread. From both sides. I see people attacking each other...and then they think that if they put a little 'smiley' it covers for their attacks.

It a shame this happens on a 'Disney' forum.

I did not mean my laughing face to be rude to anyone at all. I thought that in general was a funny comment thats all.

I personally do not think I attacked anyone in my whole long post. It is just not me to attack people. i just stated my opinions and what I thought was sad about the whole thing. I agree with you that it is sad when I see people say bad things to one another on the Dis since it is a board about the happiest place on earth but I know you will find that anywhere. Sad but true.

Anyways, sorry if you took my smileys the wrong way. :goodvibes
