Do people really run to 7DMT?

The QUALITY of the ride has nothing to do with what people go to first. It is the LENGTH of the line that people do first. And this ride does get very long lines.

That being said, I LIKE the ride. Being in Fantasyland, I wasn't expecting blazing fast speed. So the speed it had was a little more than expected. I thought the visuals and things to do in line were very good too. Maybe when it is less new, the lines will drop a little but I think it will be a popular attraction for that area of the park.

DH and I are going in May for 4 days (one day for each park) and our arrival day is our MK day and has morning EMH. We have a FP+ for it that night, and we have been on it before using FP+. But we have never been on it using the stand-by queue and we'd like to do it at least once, so we'll head there first thing with everyone else, but there will be no running because a 15 minute wait isn't going to kill us.

We can do a mean power walk though :rolleyes1

I should say that my opinion on 7DMT might be clouded by the fact that my children who were riding (then 5 & 3) needed to use the restroom so my sister left the line with them (it was a 2 hour wait).
I then got a call, people were literally blocking her and refusing to let her come back to us. We complained to the CM and he (very nicely) gave us fast passes and we got on immediately.

So in November of 2014, I could not get a fp+ 60 days out nor any day after that for our 10 day stay. There isn't a ride that I will stay in line for for longer than 20 minutes. Since the wait times were always around 80 minutes, we didn't ride it.
Trying again this coming November.

Everytime I've gone to MK, they'll be either out of fast passes for it for the day I want to go, or the wait time is an hour and a half. So I found a POV video on Youtube and watched it there, and all I said to myself was "That's it?! That's what people stand in line for?"

3. It is that POPULAR and IN DEMAND, yes.

It's hard to find a more diplomatic non-answer concerning the merits of 7DMT than this.

Robo, have you ever considered a career in politics? ;)

Well….

no.

Wow. We have FP+ for 7DMT for our trip next week. We couldn't go on it last year because DD was only 38", but she proved to be a thrill ride lover (I mean, as much as a two-year-old whose only thrill ride was the Barnstormer could be) so I scheduled a 7DMT FP+ now that she is 40".

BUT this makes me want to skip it. Will it be crazy at 11:00 even with a FP+? We're not that desperate to ride. It'll be there in two, three, or four years when we go again.

I do thank everyone who rushes straight to this ride that we will be able to enjoy our first planned attraction of the day (Enchanted Tales with Belle - a favorite of DD's from last year!) with little fanfare. :)

3. We're not that desperate to ride.

1. Why? There are many attractions that create long lines. That's why they offer FP.
2. Nope.
3. There's a bit of a difference between "like to ride" and "desperate to ride."

We'll be there at the same time!

On our last trip, I was able to get a FP+ so our wait was not long. My family thought the ride was fun but very short. I think I would have been disappointed if we had waited 90 minutes or more like some people do.

If you have a FP+, it's worth riding 7DMT at least once.

Not worth the run in my opinion. No one's seen Snow White in 50 years and splash mountain so much more fun.

What an odd thing to say.

I agree! We have seen it, and do see it still, and definitely more recent than 50 years ago!! Have always like it.

And, against popular opinion here, we also like the ride. How many coaster rides are very long anyway? We don't like the jerky, super fast coasters anymore, and love that the 7DMT is so smooth, plus it is very 'cute' inside. We've ridden it several times since it opened - every trip at least 2-3 times. Hopefully, the ones that say it isn't worth it will soon stop riding and the lines will go down. :rolleyes2

I've ridden it 4 times but I want to try it at night. And I adore the film and have seen it many times since 1966!

Yes they run and no it's not worth it. I think just because it's new
I agree. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is a nice, well designed ride, but too short and not as exciting as it could be. For a Disney World vacation I would book Seven Dwarfs Mine Train for a FP+ on one of my Magic Kingdom days, but not for every day at Magic Kingdom, and I would never plan any kind of strategies to try to get multiple rides on the Mine Train and I would never run to try to get on it. Once on the Mine Train per trip is enough for my family, given the long, long wait in the regular line and given the other rides that we prefer for FP+. I like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean better than Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. The Mine Train is a nice attraction, but I'm not going to sweat trying to get multiple rides on it. On the plus side, it is good to have a new, popular ride like Mine Train to ease the load on other attractions I prefer in Magic Kingdom. Another plus for the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train: it is not the Stitch ride, which would be better filled with cement.
