Do people really run to 7DMT?

Not worth running for. Not worth waiting for. After riding 1 time, you will have the same "that's it" feeling that me and my family had. We gave up FP+'s later in our trip to get on other attractions.

I also found it to be very tight on the knees, I wasn't comfortable on it at all. I'm not particularly tall around 5'5". I may ride it this trip with my DD who hasn't been to WDW in several years, but only so she can experience it.

DS just hit 38 inches so we're going to try to take him on SDMT this summer. There is zero chance of me running like a loon at rope drop, so we'll FP it. At least if the wait is relatively short, if it turns out to be a crappy ride I won't feel like I've missed out too much.

Oh and I have to ask, where was the thread with the parent contemplating not feeding his kids so he could ride a rollercoaster?! I'd love to read that!

This thread is so interesting to me! I know a lot of people don't think 7DMT is worth it, but it is a favorite in my family! Although, I think that is because I have young children and for them, it is completely thrilling! They also adore seeing the dwarves at work in the mine ;) I definitely think families with smaller kids are probably the ones who will likely want to ride this again and again.

That said....I don't plan to wait in a standby line for it on our trip! However, we did obtain a FP+ for each day we will be in Magic Kingdom.

It's a cute ride and I would use a FP for it again, but no way would I ever run to ride it!

On our last trip, I was able to get a FP+ so our wait was not long. My family thought the ride was fun but very short. I think I would have been disappointed if we had waited 90 minutes or more like some people do.

This^ At times the wait was over 240 minutes. Also, a cast member we met in line at HS told us we can rock the train in the Mine. That was fun and never would of know to do if we hadn't struck up a conversation with her.

Worth it for first time .. People "run" to it at rope drop because they don't want to wait 90+ minutes during the day.

It is just that in demand because it is a family-friendly coaster (and smoother, than the Barnstormer).
My son (who was exactly 3 at the time) .. loved it.

I thought it was fun, but not as good as BTMRR.

Just like any ride at Disney .. worth once .. and worth getting a FP (or going to it at RD) simply due to long lines.

I think it's a good ride, well themed, and a perfect "first coaster" for kids, but I wouldn't be in that mad dash for it. We'll get Fast Passes for it if we can but otherwise I don't think we'll worry about it.
