I remember reading awhile ago that the park tickets will have expirations . Did this happen. I am thinking of buying a ticket for a future use to save money but don't know what year I would be going. I am not talking about the part where the ticket expires 14 days after first use, I am talking about unused tickets.

Unused WDW Multi-Day tickets don't have an expiration date.

For 1-day tickets only:
Tickets purchased after February 28, 2016 must be used by December 31, 2017, but the amount paid for an unused, expired ticket may be applied towards the purchase of a new ticket at the current price so long as the new ticket purchase price is equal to or greater than the amount paid for the original ticket.

So far, only single-day tickets will expire. (And even then, they still have value towards the purchase of a new ticket.) But those aren't the type of thing you'd be buying for the future anyway.

At Disneyland in California, park tickets sold for that resort do have expiration dates (including multi-day tickets). Unless it's a ticket for a specific special event, you can also apply the value of an unused, expired ticket toward a new ticket.

This info is specific to WDW for tickets purchased domestically, I don't know the other property ticket options or the WDW tickets purchased abroad options.

In addition to previous answers, right now there is a $79 1 day hopper special that an AP holder can purchase for someone. That ticket must be purchased in person and is only valid on that day.

Buying tickets for the future that are 2+ days I don't think there is any case where they expire or need to be upgraded to current value, it's only 1 day normal price tickets that do that...

Thank you for your quick replies. Good to know it was only for one day tickets.

We are going in October and we won't be back till 2019 for Star Wars land if I buy 2 tickets next year and 2 later in the year will they be good in 2019?

There's no guarantee the rules won't change.

Right now, any multi-day tickes you purchase would still be valid in 2019, but things could change.

In 2008 we bought 10 day non-expiring tickets and only used 4 days from them. We will be in the Orlando area in early October and were thinking of using one of the 6 days left on our tickets to go to the Food and Wine Festival. What is the procedure for this? I assume we will need to go to Guest Services. Will they give us Magic Bands for the one day that we want to visit? Thanks in advance for any advice that can be offered.

Your paper tickets will be transferred onto RFID enabled "paper" (read: plastic) tickets. The RFID component enables you to use all the features a magic band would except for pictures being loaded automatically. Should you like to view your ride photo from Test Track you can tap your card on the reader below your picture. Not sure if the new frozen ride has pictures or videos. Just as an FYI magic bands are never given away with tickets but with resort stays (the exception being Annual Passes where the bands are sent AFTER you activate your tickets)

Thanks, Disney_Alli! Actually, our non-expiring tickets are plastic, but may not be RFID enabled. We haven't used them since 2008 because we've purchased APs a couple of times since then. Pictures are not important to us, so that's not a problem. We'll be going back in March and staying on property and will get Magic Bands then. I appreciate your speedy response.

Have a great trip!

I know the No Expire are not sold anymore, but can they still transfer the ticket entitlements to a new RFID card? And can that be done at all ticket locations or only at guest services?

Yes, old No Expire tickets are still valid. If the ticket was purchased prior to the RFID card days you will need to go to Guest Services to get them to issue you a new RFID card. This will have whatever remaining entitlements you had tied to it. The only downside is that you most likely won't be able to link it to your MDE account in order to reserve FP+ prior to your trip. I ran into this January last year. I had 9 days left on a 10 day no expire from 2012 and my ticket was not an RFID card. It did not have any kind of number on it that could be used to link it to my MDE account. Long story short, after multiple calls and emails, despite being told there was a way to get it linked before the trip so I could do FP+, they could not and I had to visit Guest Services on my first day that trip to get the ticket media swapped over to the new card. They recommended Guest Services, not just a ticket window, but I don't know if that's a requirement. Man I wish I had gotten wind last year of the end of the No Expire ticket. My Disney trips are almost always long weekends with 2 or 3 days in the parks and the NE tickets just made that so much more cost effective. If I had realized they were going away, I would have invested in 3 or 4 more of them to keep for future use.

Thank you! We have a 10 day PH + WP NE childs ticket with only one Waterpark entry used when DD was 9. She will need it converted to an adult ticket. So hopefully the rest of the days won't expire within 14 days if we only use a couple park days next visit.

1. Yup. Do that for free at any ticket booth or Guest Relations.
2. They won't. The ticket will stay "non-expiring."

Have a great trip!
