We're thinking about having a nice breakfast or two on our trip next week (Aug. 17 - 22). Would we need an ADR for breakfast at Boma, or Kona Cafe, or Olivia's?

By the way, don't worry, we've had our dinner ADRs for months now.

I'd say yup! If it were me, I wouldn't risk it if it really meant that much. Better to be safe then sorry:goodvibes

I would probably make one just in case, but you may not actually need it. The year before last we had such a fantastic dinner at Boma (and we had missed our arrival night ADR at another restaurant so we had table service credits to burn) that we stopped at the podium on our way out and asked about a breakfast reservation later that week, they were able to accommodate us easily. I think that most people who have breakfast at the resorts are either grabbing a quick counter service meal or they are lingering at the resort for the day (possibly checking out and traveling home). Not too many people want to waste their precious park time at a resort restaurant for breakfast or lunch.

I haven't been to the other two restaurants for breakfast, but we do breakfast at Boma once or twice per trip and it has never been very crowded or hard to get an ADR. It is quite a bit larger than Kona Cafe (not sure about Olivia's - I've never seen it).

I always tend to make breakfast reservations. For Kona Cafe, I would say definitely because the restaurant is quite small. We walked into Olivia's once for breakfast and got seated after about 20 minutes (it was a Sunday morning around 9:30-9:45). Not sure about Boma, but it's a larger restaurant than either Kona or Olivia's. But I would say to be sure, make breakfast reservations.

We never make them and we've had breakfast at all 3 spots. We never had to wait at Olivias, and waited a couple of minutes once or twice at Kona. We usually can get a seat at Boma, but one time we did have an almost 20 minute wait.

you need ADRs for any place you wish to be guaranteed to dine. most don't penalize you if you can't show, so there's no harm. and if there is harm in way of theoretically preventing someone else dining there by being a noshow, then you needed the ADR to begin with.

that said, time of year and time of meal will make a difference and walkups are probably possible but not guaranteed.
