Do I have to prepay for Enterprise?

I tried to make a reservation with Enterprise since they had good rates, but they want a credit card number. I don't want to prepay. Plus, it says there may be additional fees. Anyone know how much those may be?

This sounds strange. I have used Enterprise many times and I was never asked to give a credit card at the time I made the reservation. Also, all fees were listed up front. How are you making the reservation? On-line or phone? Are you dealing directly with Enterprise or with a third party such as Travelocity?

Probably depends on how you book and the rules for the rate you are booking.

I've never been asked for a credit card to reserve a car directly with Enterprise. As the PP noted, sometimes discounted rates or rates booked through third parties require full payment in advance. Most regular rates, including many specials, don't require payment in advance. Sometimes a credit card will be required but the payment will not be due in advance. You should check the fine print wherever you are booking to see if the card number is needed just to hold the reservation, for a deposit or for full payment in advance.

I made the reservation with Enterprise. What surprised me was seeing they wanted a credit card but they didn't actually ask for the number, so I was jumping the gun. They had a great rate with the drop off at Disney.

Good to know there won't be any surprise extra fees.

Extra fees are for things like refueling if you don't fill up before returning, damage to the car etc. What you see on the quote is what you will pay barring any of the aformentioned items.
