Do babies sail for free?

My son is looking to book his wife and 12 mos. old daughter, using a cast member discount. He is getting a charge for his baby. I thought babies are no charge?

Nope. Babies are charged. They take up a space on a lifeboat, they are charged.

Yes, there is an infant rate. I think it is for 6 months up to 3 years old.

Yes, there is a charge for each passenger, even infants. But I do believe the charge for an infant is less than for an older child, as long as there are more than 2 people in the stateroom. The second person in each stateroom is charged the full adult fare regardless of age.

Yes. It's unclear from the original post if the OP's son is a crew member on the ship and is paying for his wife and child to sail or if it is all three sailing. But, unless things have changed, the the CM rates are set per person because they are ridiculously low already. Those are not per-age.

I booked a cast rate yesterday for 2 A and 1 C (age 1) and the 3rd head was only about 200 less than the first 2

For the littles first cruise last Jan that was booked normally it was much closer to 1/3rd the cost

But in comparison our 3 day was over $200 a person a day vs our booked 7 day is just under $140 a person a night.. including the travel insurance

To me it’s different than the parks as her being on board takes a non replaceable spot, a lifeboat seat & she can enjoy 90% of the offerings the other kids do

That used to be the case many years ago - if I remember correctly I believe children were only charged port fees up until they reached age 3.
